Contra Costa County Fair RV Park

Unnamed Road, 1201 W 10th St, Antioch, CA 94509, USA

3.0
The owners are rude and disrespectful. Nobody cleans up after their dogs , there’s permanently residing noisy/destructive neighbors who have immunity from getting in ANY trouble. There’s never any parking for actual residents because of all the people who come to sleep/ buy dope in the Parking lot. This place is a joke , go to Oakley or bethel island . Oh , and the amps blow if you use more than one appliance at a time inside your RV , my boyfriend had to pay out of his own pocket to replace the breaker for TWO SPACES because the manager “couldn’t get a hold of the maintenance guy” . A JOKE - Alisha Swafford

Contra Costa County Fair RV Park Introduce

Introduction / Overview

For RV enthusiasts and travelers navigating the vibrant East Bay Area of California, the Contra Costa County Fair RV Park presents a uniquely positioned and highly accessible option. Situated within the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds at 1201 W 10th St in Antioch, CA 94509, USA, this RV park offers a distinct experience, blending the convenience of urban proximity with the functionality of a fairground setting. It’s designed primarily for "Overnight Travelers and Fairground Event Participants," making it a suitable choice for those passing through or attending events at the fairgrounds.

The park features a total of "18 spacious sites," each equipped with "full hook-ups, including electrical, water, and sewer connections." This ensures that RVers can enjoy a comfortable and convenient stay, with essential amenities readily available. The availability of 30 Amp service caters to most RV needs, and sites are described as "level with either grass or gravel," aiding in easy setup upon arrival. The park operates on a "first-come, first-serve basis," as "reservations are not accepted," requiring some flexibility from prospective campers.

However, it's important for potential visitors to be aware of varied past experiences. While the official information highlights convenience and amenities, some customer reviews indicate areas that might impact a guest's stay. Feedback mentions concerns about "rude and disrespectful" owners, issues with "nobody cleans up after their dogs," and "permanently residing noisy/destructive neighbors." Other practical concerns raised include "never any parking for actual residents" due to external traffic, and electrical issues where "the amps blow if you use more than one appliance at a time inside your RV," potentially leading to out-of-pocket expenses for repairs. These points suggest that while the park provides essential services, the actual experience can vary and may not always meet every expectation for tranquility or consistent maintenance.

Despite these considerations, for many, the fundamental offerings of full hookups and a convenient location within the fairgrounds may outweigh potential drawbacks, especially for short-term stays or those directly attending fair events. The park's policy on maximum stay, limited to "30 consecutive days," further reinforces its role as a short-term or event-oriented lodging option rather than a long-term residential solution.

Location and Accessibility

The Contra Costa County Fair RV Park is strategically located within the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds at 1201 W 10th St, Antioch, CA 94509, USA. This address places it firmly in the East Bay Area of California, a bustling region with a blend of urban development and access to natural attractions. Antioch is a significant city in Contra Costa County, providing a wide array of services and amenities for travelers.

The park's location offers excellent accessibility for RVers traveling through California. It's situated a "short distance from Highway 4," a major state route that connects directly to other significant highways, including State Route 160, Interstate 5, and Interstate 80. This connectivity makes it a convenient stop for those exploring Northern California, whether heading towards the San Francisco Bay Area, the Central Valley, or even further north or east. The relatively flat terrain of Antioch and its surroundings generally ensures easy navigation for large RVs, from major roads directly to the fairgrounds.

A key aspect of its location highlighted by a reviewer is its proximity to "Antioch Speedway," which hosts "dirt-track racing" on "Saturday nights from Spring-Fall," potentially leading to a "loud and dusty" environment during these times. Additionally, the RV sites are described as being "directly between" the Speedway and a "flea market" on "Saturday & Sunday" mornings and afternoons, suggesting that visitors should anticipate potential noise and activity, particularly on weekends. This means the park, while convenient, may not always offer the quiet, secluded atmosphere some RVers seek.

Beyond the fairgrounds, the park's location in Antioch offers access to various local attractions and conveniences. It's "just a short block from the Antioch Marina," providing opportunities for fishing and water recreation. The fairgrounds are also "near many services and businesses such as hotels, restaurants, and shopping centers," ensuring that campers have easy access to supplies, dining, and other necessities. Nearby points of interest include Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve and Antioch Water Park, offering recreational activities. Despite some potential noise from fairground activities, the Contra Costa County Fair RV Park's central location in Antioch makes it a highly accessible and convenient base for exploring the East Bay.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For Californians, especially those residing in or frequently traveling through the East Bay Area, the Contra Costa County Fair RV Park in Antioch presents a highly practical and situationally suitable option for their RV accommodation needs. While some considerations regarding noise and management have been noted by past visitors, the park's core offerings cater to specific local needs, making it a viable choice for many.

Firstly, its location within the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds is a significant advantage for locals. For those attending events at the fair, participating in activities, or simply visiting friends and family in the Antioch area, the park offers unparalleled convenience. It eliminates the need for long commutes and provides immediate access to fairground happenings. This makes it an ideal base for short-term stays related to local events or quick visits.

Secondly, the park's provision of full hookups (electrical, water, and sewer) at all 18 sites is a crucial amenity for RVers. This ensures a comfortable and self-sufficient stay, which is particularly appealing for those who prefer not to rely on external facilities. For Californians who own RVs and are looking for a straightforward, functional place to park for a few days, the guaranteed hookups are a major draw. The pet-friendly policy further extends its suitability, allowing local RV owners to travel with their beloved animals, a common preference in California.

While the "first-come, first-serve" policy and the potential for noise from the adjacent Antioch Speedway and flea market on weekends mean it might not be the quietest retreat, these factors are often acceptable for locals seeking convenience over absolute solitude. For Californians who understand the nature of fairground parks and prioritize easy access to urban amenities and highway networks, the Contra Costa County Fair RV Park fits the bill. It’s a pragmatic choice for a stopover or a temporary base while exploring the diverse attractions of Contra Costa County, from the Antioch Marina to local shopping and dining.

In essence, the Contra Costa County Fair RV Park serves as a practical, amenity-rich, and strategically located option for Californians looking for short-term RV accommodation in the East Bay. Despite some reported challenges, its fundamental offerings make it a suitable and convenient choice for local travelers and fairground visitors alike.
