Chess Falls Campground, as part of the Mahaffey Camp & Conference Center, operates with a clear rate structure that, while not always featuring short-term "promotions" in the typical commercial sense, offers significant value, particularly for seasonal and extended stays. For Pennsylvanians considering this welcoming community, here's what to keep in mind regarding their pricing and offers:
Seasonal Campsite Rates: A key offering for those looking for an extended outdoor experience is the availability of seasonal RV sites. While specific current rates require direct inquiry, historical rates show options for full hookup sites (water, 30 amp electric, sewage) as well as sites with water and electric only, and even some without sewage connection. These seasonal rates generally provide a more cost-effective option for long-term stays compared to nightly rates.
Daily and Extended Stay RV/Tent Rates: For shorter visits, the campground offers per-night rates for both RVs (with various hookup options) and tents. Historically, there have also been discounted rates for longer stays, such as 9 nights/10 days, compared to accumulating individual nightly rates. This provides flexibility for both weekenders and those planning slightly longer vacations.
Winter Storage & Short-Stay Storage Permits: For seasonal campers or those needing temporary storage for their RVs, the option for winter storage permits and short-stay storage permits is a valuable service. These often come with specific pricing and conditions, sometimes including occupancy fees if staying on the unit during the storage period outside of the main Family Camp event.
Meal Ticket Options: During major events like Family Camp, the Dining Hall offers meal tickets (e.g., a 27-meal ticket for breakfast, lunch, and dinner) which provide a discounted rate compared to purchasing individual meals. Child rates (e.g., half price for children under nine) are also typically available.
Membership/Community Value: While not a direct monetary promotion, the strong community aspect and the collective participation in projects and events can be seen as a significant "value-add" that enhances the overall camping experience and fosters a sense of belonging.
Given that the campground consistently undergoes "new upgrades," it's always best for Pennsylvanians to contact the Mahaffey Camp office directly for the most current and specific rate information, availability of seasonal sites, and details on any special offers.

Chess Falls Campground Reviews
Family-friendly seasonal campground that all the camp family will chip in to give a hand with projects and events. With many new upgrades.
Apr 08, 2025 · Wendy LuteA community of people who enjoy the outdoors. How long it will be America's affordable housing is anyone's guess. Let's hope that lot rates remain reasonable,
May 27, 2023 · Ronnie Ray JenkinsWe go there as much as possible and the people are so friendly. just love being at camp always a great time n lots of fun. It's our home away from home can't get any better than that. Absolutely beautiful place to be at. Love it there so much. We could stay there forever.
Sep 14, 2024 · Mary PerusoGiving it a 5 star for now. I've been with my wife for almost 20 years now; almost 11 of those are married, and it's a great community. Safest place a child could be. Friendly people and a great atmosphere. New owners took over and they started adding electrical service; if one would like to hook their campers or such to have electrical access, and bathrooms accessible to the public.Drive very slowly through the area, due to the fact that children run around constantly and everyone watches everyone's child. So the people will let you know; or you could be asked to leave or removed from the premises, if you drive over 5mph or are just being dangerous in general. It was a small community of somewhat locals and some out of towners, but more and more are flocking there because of how nice it is. I'm not sure if there are any trails, but the river is literally right over the embankment where the campers are. Fishing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, rafting and so many other activities to do. They have events frequently during the summer like potlucks that literally everyone contributes to, bingo every so often, fireworks during the 4th of July, music with a DJ once in a while and more.Just with the amount of people there, there's always something to do. There's picnics, family gatherings, small parties and everyone gets along. It's not rare to have someone just pop up and start a conversation or invite strangers to eat with them. Now, the reason I'm saying I'll give it 5 stars for now is because of the amount of people and newcomers starting to appear. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but sometimes letting a small camping community get too big, will start to lose the appeal it has. But like I've said, we welcome everyone and no discrimination, violence or crime has ever happened since I've been going down there over the last 15+ years. And from what I understand, there hasn't been any problems years and years prior either. And that's what makes it feel safe and is a very welcoming area. My family goes down every weekend, and my children love it down there. So many friends, friendly people and just a beautiful area in general. We just ask that you respect the locals, respect the land, respect the children and respect mother nature while you're here. Very wonderful area and I hope it continues to be such.
Aug 02, 2023 · Bo WestoverNice quiet place to camp along side the river. People are friendly and helpful. Showers and restrooms are clean, they have a basketball court and fire rings through out. Nice place to visit
