Carter's Cove Campground is conveniently located at 8758 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg, VA 23185, USA. This address places it strategically within the historic heart of Virginia, specifically in the greater Williamsburg area. For us, as Virginia locals, this location offers an ideal balance: a tranquil setting removed from the immediate tourist buzz, yet with extremely easy access to some of our state's most significant historical attractions and natural beauty.
Pocahontas Trail (Route 60) is a well-traveled artery, providing straightforward access to Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown – collectively known as the Historic Triangle. This means campers can enjoy a peaceful retreat and still be just a short drive away from world-class historical sites, museums, and family-friendly entertainment. The campground's location near the York River further enhances its appeal, offering potential for water-based activities like fishing or boating in the surrounding area, though direct river access from the campground itself is not explicitly detailed in reviews. The surrounding terrain is described as "flat" with a mix of "wooded and open areas," contributing to the quiet ambiance and offering pleasant surroundings for walks. Accessibility from major Virginia cities like Richmond, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach is excellent via interstate highways such as I-64, making Carter's Cove a practical and desirable destination for weekend getaways or extended stays for many Virginians.

As a campground that seems to cater significantly to "long term tenants" and is praised for its quiet, community-oriented atmosphere, Carter's Cove Campground might not feature widespread, publicly advertised "promotions" or "special offers" in the same vein as larger, more transient-focused RV parks. However, local, family-run, or community-centric campgrounds often provide value through different means. For us, as Virginia locals, inquiring directly is always the best approach, but here are potential areas of value or "offers" they might provide:
- Competitive Long-Term Rates: For those seeking extended stays, Carter's Cove likely offers competitive monthly or seasonal rates that provide significant savings compared to nightly or weekly rates.
- Off-Season Pricing: During slower periods, such as late fall, winter (beyond the "3 little snows"), or early spring, there might be reduced rates or greater availability, making it an attractive option for a quieter getaway.
- Word-of-Mouth Incentives: Given the strong community aspect and friendly staff, there might be informal perks or small courtesies extended to repeat visitors or those referred by current residents, although these wouldn't be publicly advertised.
- Military/Senior Discounts (Potential): Many campgrounds in Virginia, particularly those in areas with a strong military presence like Williamsburg, offer discounts for active military personnel, veterans, or seniors. It's always worth asking if they have such programs.
- Referral Programs: If it's a tight-knit community, they might have a referral program for existing tenants who bring in new long-term residents.
To confirm any specific pricing structures, long-term stay options, or potential discounts, the most reliable method for locals is to contact Carter's Cove Campground directly using the phone numbers provided. We have been staying here while working in the area. Many long term tenants. Quieter than any other place we have been. Towering trees above, and 4 beautiful seasons! The manager, maintenance man, and everyone else have been great to know!Only 3 little snows this year-perfect! Hardwood trees giving plenty of shade.
Jul 12, 2022 · Dorell ProshekMr Bobby and the entire community was just welcoming and sweet. Don't let the initial view of this place deter you. I made friends and miss it already. If I ever find myself traveling back through VA, this will be my go to.
Apr 28, 2022 · Neykia DeclouetIt's quite lots of shades. Too many cats. You get charged for extra vehicle. The ground person only cleans one side of the campground. Lots of ridiculous rules.
Jun 04, 2025 · owner pcPlease don't look at the few negative reviews to form your opinion. This place is designed for people who are working and not interested in partying every night. Quiet and very well maintained. Not trashy, and daffodils are planted everywhere. Mr Carter is a very nice Southern gentleman and he is particular about his tenants.
Mar 13, 2021 · Judith JonesNice little campground. My husband stayed there for about a month while working in the area and really enjoyed it. He said the guy that works there is extremely pleasant to work with and friendly. When the kids and i visited overnight to go to water country, we really appreciated the proximity to all the fun too! Would definitely stay again.
