This was a good connection for church that used the facilities for a two day retreat for over 100+ people. I believe owner mentioned usually not having a big group in the winter. I really thought I was going to be cold the whole time but the chapel area with all the people and the heater on for awhile got too cozy...this was everyone's first time. We did advice all to bring good walking shoes since it is a good distance to walk to dinning commona and use stairs to get to the cabins. I was happy that there was lighting around cabins. Some cabins have a full bathroom. Those who do not would use the stalls that were in the bottom. For a few people it was a bit difficulty to follow GPS at night time. Signal gets cut off once on the site. There's at times some spotty signal. Overall all establishments were in fair order, might need some TLC but all is good for the purpose of what we needed especially during winter time. - Uriel Ramirez Torres

Capital Mountain Camp Introduce

Nestled in the picturesque Sierra Foothills of Weimar, California, Capital Mountain Camp offers a unique and inviting setting for those seeking a retreat from the everyday. This isn't your typical drive-up campground; it's a dedicated facility primarily designed to host groups, making it an excellent choice for church retreats, youth groups, family reunions, and other organized gatherings. Capital Mountain Camp provides a secluded and beautiful environment where participants can truly disconnect, bond, and engage in a variety of activities amidst stunning natural scenery. Its focus on providing a structured yet relaxing experience for larger parties sets it apart as a specialized destination in Northern California.

The essence of Capital Mountain Camp lies in its ability to facilitate meaningful connections and activities for groups. Feedback from visitors highlights the effectiveness of the facilities for events, even accommodating over 100 people in various seasons. Guests appreciate the warm and "cozy" common areas, even in winter, indicating thoughtful heating solutions. While acknowledging that some areas might need a bit of tender loving care, the consensus is that the "establishments were in fair order" and perfectly suited for their intended purpose. The camp's strength truly shines in its ability to create an environment conducive to fellowship, learning, and recreation, all while being immersed in the beautiful Californian landscape. It’s a place where you can forge stronger bonds and create lasting memories without the distractions of urban life.

Capital Mountain Camp is situated at 2150 E Weimar Cross Rd, Weimar, CA 95736, USA. Its location is a key aspect of its "secluded get-away-from-it-all vibe." Tucked away in the Sierra Nevada foothills at approximately 2500 ft elevation, the journey to the camp itself signals a departure from the bustling pace of life. Access is generally good via Interstate 80, about 15 miles east of Auburn, by taking the Weimar Cross Road exit and following E Weimar Cross Road for about 5 miles to its end. This ensures a sense of privacy and immersion in nature.

While the remoteness contributes to its charm, it's important for visitors to be aware that cell signal can be spotty or cut off once on-site, encouraging genuine disconnection. GPS might also be challenging at night, so careful navigation during daylight hours or prior planning is advised. However, this intentional lack of constant digital connection is often seen as a benefit, promoting face-to-face interaction and engagement with the surroundings. The natural beauty of the area is undeniable, with "beautiful scenery" providing a stunning backdrop for all activities. Nearby attractions include Rollins Lake (approximately 5 miles away, offering an afternoon outing opportunity), and the general area offers opportunities for hiking, biking, boating, and exploring charming gold towns like Auburn, Grass Valley, and Nevada City.
