Access to the island is a distinctive part of the experience, via "a long gravel road that turns into a causeway leading to Goat Island." This charming approach immediately signals that you're entering a special, secluded retreat.
Lake Belle Taine itself is part of the larger Mantrap Chain of Lakes, known for its excellent water clarity and quality. This atmosphere hints at a friendly, community-oriented environment where outdoor play is encouraged. While the setting feels wonderfully remote, the town of Nevis is conveniently close, offering local shops and restaurants if needed. The staff is known for being "super friendly," and the office is easy to find, offering essential supplies and information. It's important to note that while sites can accommodate a "good variety of both tents and campers," visitors with "very big ones" should "call their office for details on your rig," as "some sites cannot fit very big ones." Campers' Paradise Reviews
I am not sure why this place doesn't have 1,000 stars, but to each their own. We took our son here to surprise him for his birthday and could not be happier.Yes, it is difficult to get in to, but there is a reason for that. People have been coming here for generations and once you visit, you will see why.You arrive on a long gravel road that turns in to a causeway leading to Goat Island. You are greeted by hundreds of mature trees and winding roads with kids riding their bikes all over like we were back in 1980. The office is small and always has a friendly face behind the desk. They have souvenirs, ice cream, and a small selection of groceries. You can also purchase ice and firewood there. In addition, they have a pontoon, fishing boats, kayaks, and other equipment you can rent.Behind the office is the beach area. There is a volleyball court, playground, and a beautiful beach with all kinds of fun things, including water trampolines. There are some campsites up by the beach and cabins as well. If you drive down from the beach area there is a little arcade that has fun games-and the ones that you can actually play until you win instead of blowing your allowance for nothing. The campsites are thoughtfully spread throughout the island. Each has an electrical hookup, but no water or sewer. They have water by the bathrooms to fill up and a guy comes every Thursday to pump black tanks if you need that service. Otherwise, the closest dump site is in Akeley at the campground there ($10).They have some interior campsites, most of which are very roomy. The beachfront sites are beautiful, some are more shady than others. We stayed in 65, which is more open, but there were still plenty of trees between sites for privacy. Our site had a gorgeous sandy beach and the kids were in the water all day. We were able to bring the rental pontoon right up to our site too. If you have a boat, you can park that by your site if you have a waterfront site, or there are several spots on the island you can park it too. There were a good variety of both tents and campers. Call their office for details on your rig, some sites cannot fit very big ones. They also know of a camper rental place too, in case you want to tow your boat or don't feel like tenting.Overall, super friendly, clean, and just stunning surroundings. Lake Belle Taine goes on for days and is crystal clear. We found some decent fishing spots, but there are a lot of areas that are nothing but sand. It is a great recreation lake. Highly recommend!Photos include our site 65, and some of our rentals one is at site 4 and the other was an interior site across the way.
Aug 23, 2024 · Amanda Luther2025 was our first year camping at Campers Paradise and I hope to return again very soon. The showers/ restrooms were very clean and well kept, the beach offered hours of tanning and swimming fun, and the campsites are large and private- surrounded by tall trees. We enjoyed every minute of our stay.
Jun 21, 2025 · Amber GarrettAmazing experience! We had an inside spot and it was perfect! Not to close to people, very quiet and amazing workers! They even brought water to us when we forgot to fill on our way in!
Jun 17, 2021 · Stephanie DavidsonWas a nice campgrounds, site was nice, lake and fishing were great. Facilities were maintained beyond expectations.
Aug 16, 2023 · Roland AumockGrew up coming here and had the greatest of memories. This last weekend I was able snag a reservation for a tent site and brought my two little boys for what I'd hope would be a great experience. Within the first half hour I had a staff member (later found out it was a gal named "Lynn"?) approach and reprimand me for not returning my firewood cart quick enough. I apologized and said I was on my way to walk it back, but hadn't even had it 20 minutes. She aggressively yelled, "we only have four of them!!!!". Mind you, I'm a 39 year old rule following, accommodating woman. The interaction was bizarre to say the least. Then, the next morning the same woman attacked me by the restrooms stating my car was parked there too long. I packed up and left immediately. NEVER AGAIN. What an icky, mean human.
