This family-owned and operated campground offers a unique blend of natural beauty, extensive amenities, and a vibrant community spirit. This article will provide a comprehensive look at Camp Sequoia, highlighting its convenient location, the wide array of services it provides, its standout features that keep campers coming back, and why it's an ideal choice for locals seeking their next Michigan adventure.
Camp Sequoia is conveniently located at 2675 Gady Rd, Adrian, MI 49221, USA. This prime position places it within Lenawee County, a region of Southeast Michigan known for its charming small towns, agricultural landscapes, and recreational opportunities. The campground’s accessibility is a significant advantage for Michigan residents, being approximately an hour’s drive from major population centers like Ann Arbor, Toledo (Ohio), and Jackson. This minimizes travel time, allowing more precious moments to be spent enjoying the camping experience rather than on the road.
Adrian itself offers a welcoming community with local shops, dining options, and essential services readily available. Furthermore, Camp Sequoia's location provides easy access to a variety of regional attractions. It's close to the Michigan International Speedway (MIS) for racing enthusiasts, Cabela's for outdoor gear, and the scenic Irish Hills area. Within a short drive, campers can explore numerous all-sports lakes, antique shops, golfing greens, and cinemas, ensuring that there's always something to do, regardless of your interests. The campground's setting on a nature preserve offers a peaceful retreat, yet keeps you connected to the vibrant offerings of the surrounding Michigan landscape.
Camp Sequoia prides itself on offering a wide range of services and amenities designed to ensure a comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable stay for all types of campers, from overnight visitors to seasonal residents. While specific details are always best confirmed directly with the camp, general offerings include:
Diverse Campsite Options: The campground offers both seasonal and weekender/overnight campsites. All sites are spacious (approximately 30'x60'), grassy, and mostly level, equipped with water and 30 or 50 amp electrical hook-ups. Many sites feature mature shade trees, while others are open for those preferring no tree coverage. While individual sewer hookups are not available at all sites, a dump station is provided, and a local company offers pump-out services weekly.
Modern Bathhouse: A recently remodeled bathhouse with showers, flush toilets, sinks, and dressing rooms ensures comfort and cleanliness for all campers.
On-Site Store: A camp store (Bill's Sugar Shack) provides convenience for purchasing essentials like firewood and ice, and perhaps even some treats.
Private Fishing Lake: A private 15-acre fishing lake (or 12-acre lake/small pond, depending on source interpretation, always best to confirm with them) is stocked with various fish including Bluegill, Bass, Pike, and Sunfish. Rowboats and canoes are available for rent, offering a relaxing day on the water.
Laundry Facilities: While not explicitly mentioned in all sources, many comprehensive campgrounds like Camp Sequoia offer laundry facilities for longer stays.
Pet-Friendly Policy: Pets are welcome, with current vaccination records required. There's even an enclosed dog park and miles of trails for walking your furry friends (with leash rules and unattended restrictions applying).
Flexible Payment Plans: As highlighted in reviews, management, specifically Kim, has been accommodating with payment plans for seasonal campers, offering options to divide costs into multiple payments.
These services are curated to enhance the camping experience, allowing campers to relax and fully immerse themselves in the natural surroundings and activities.
Camp Sequoia truly shines in its commitment to providing a vibrant and engaging atmosphere for all age groups, making it a highly-rated destination for Michigan families. Reviewers consistently point to several key highlights:
Abundance of Activities: The campground offers a wide range of activities scheduled every weekend throughout the summer season. These include themed weekends (e.g., Hawaiian Luau, Mexican Fiesta, 70's theme, Halloween, Western), pool relay races, craft sessions for kids and adults, Bingo, Euchre tournaments, horseshoe tournaments, and more. A large dry erase board on the office deck keeps everyone informed of the daily schedule.
Spacious Swimming Pool: A large in-ground 25' x 60' swimming pool, open from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend, is a major draw. It features a shallow end (3'), middle section (5'), and deep end (9'), surrounded by a large cement deck with umbrella tables and lounge chairs for relaxation.
Christian-Based Community and Chapel: Camp Sequoia is a Christian-based campground, offering non-denominational worship services every Sunday morning at 9:30 AM in their charming Log Cabin Chapel. This provides a unique spiritual component for those seeking it, and the chapel is also available for weddings or vow renewals.
Expansive Grounds and Trails: Located on over 100 acres described as a "nature preserve like park," the campground features woods, hills, fields, and miles of well-groomed trails perfect for walking, biking, or golf cart rides. This natural setting allows for appreciation of local wildlife, including deer and fireflies.
Athletic Field and Dog Park: A large athletic field includes a softball/kickball diamond, volleyball, horseshoe, cornhole, and a half-basketball court. An enclosed dog park ensures that furry family members have a dedicated space to play.
Friendly Staff and Community: Reviews frequently praise the accommodating nature of the staff, particularly Kim, and highlight the friendly and welcoming atmosphere created by fellow campers. This contributes to a strong sense of community, especially among seasonal residents.
Live Entertainment: Periodically throughout the summer, Camp Sequoia hosts live entertainment and local bands, adding to the festive atmosphere.

We were captivated by the natural surroundings and reminisced about our ideal spot, which was conveniently situated across from the trails. As we prepare to conclude our season, we are seeking a nearby campground to minimize travel time. This establishment is conveniently located within an hour’s drive. Mar 26, 2025 · Ken WilsonMy family and I have been camping here for almost 15 years. Our kids have grown up here over the summers. We could not have picked a better place to call our summer weekend home. There is always lots to do either with events planned or taking a hike on the trails or play corn hole against my kids or the neighbors.

Mar 26, 2025 · Jamie WilsonI wish I could rate this place at zero but you can't. That's the number they deserve. Over priced, VERY stereotypical, different rules for different folks depending on how much the owner likes you. Priced for full hookups but no full hookups available. Do yourself a favor and go pretty anywhere else. Other seasonal campgrounds in the area have a waiting list. This place doesn't. Bet you can figure out why real quick if you try.

Sep 05, 2023 · Raymond JacobsVery nice campground. Spots are spacious. We have a 46' and have plenty of room for both vehicles. The only drawback is they have no sewer connections. They offer free tanks or you can pay $20 weekly for a service to take care of it. 30 & 50 amp service. Power seems to be good so far. Lots of activities for children like pools & playgrounds. Very quiet considering the place is completely full.
