Camp Rumslinger

141 Clonch Dr, Ferguson, NC 28624, USA

4.0
I do not recommend this “campground” they have 40 plus chickens that get in your things and poop all over your stuff. The owners do nothing about it. We stayed here for about 2 months and paid the most for the smallest lot. The owners tried to sue another couple here in the campground bc they didn’t like them. The owners walk around with their guns pointed at people’s camp site. They have no amenities, no walking trails no bathhouse no dog run, nothing! Save your money and sanity do not stay here!! - Brittany Marks

Camp Rumslinger Introduce

For North Carolina locals seeking a distinctive and perhaps more unconventional camping experience, Camp Rumslinger in Ferguson, NC, presents an option worth considering. Unlike typical campgrounds that might boast extensive recreational facilities, Camp Rumslinger appears to cater to a specific niche: those looking for a quieter, more self-sufficient, and potentially longer-term stay. Its character, as revealed through diverse guest experiences, suggests a place where the focus is on a natural setting and essential comforts, particularly for remote workers or those seeking an extended escape into the tranquility of the North Carolina landscape.

It's important to approach Camp Rumslinger with an understanding that it might not fit the mold of a conventional resort-style campground. Instead, it seems to offer a more rustic and independent camping adventure, where personal space, natural beauty, and the ability to live simply are key. This could be precisely what many North Carolinians are looking for—a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle, allowing for a deeper connection with the outdoors.

Location and Accessibility

Camp Rumslinger is situated at 141 Clonch Dr, Ferguson, NC 28624, USA. This address places it in a more rural and scenic part of North Carolina, specifically in Ferguson. For locals in the state, this location offers a gateway to the natural beauty of the western part of North Carolina, providing a sense of escape from more populated areas.

Ferguson itself is a small community, suggesting that Camp Rumslinger benefits from a tranquil environment away from heavy traffic and urban noise. While direct proximity to major highways isn't explicitly detailed, its location in North Carolina implies reasonable accessibility for those traveling from various parts of the state. This makes it an appealing destination for residents seeking a genuine outdoor experience without venturing too far. The scenic surroundings, as highlighted by one review, contribute significantly to the appeal of this location. It's a place where you can truly immerse yourself in the natural landscape, perhaps enjoying mountain views or peaceful forest settings, which is a major draw for North Carolinians looking for an authentic camping experience.

Services Offered

Based on customer reviews, the services offered at Camp Rumslinger present a mixed picture, suggesting a more independent and less amenity-rich camping experience. However, for those seeking specific provisions, some key services are highlighted:

  • Excellent Internet Connection: One significant highlight for remote workers or those who need to stay connected is the "excellent internet connection." This is a crucial service for modern campers and digital nomads, enabling work-from-home capabilities even in a natural setting.
  • Trash Pickup: The convenience of "trash pickup" is a valuable service, ensuring a clean and tidy campsite without the need for campers to manage waste disposal off-site.
  • Access to Fresh Eggs: A unique and delightful offering mentioned is the ability to "purchase fresh eggs." This adds a charming, rustic touch and provides campers with fresh, local produce.
  • Proximity to Groceries: While not a direct service of the campground, being "20 min from grocery stores" is a practical highlight for longer stays, ensuring essential supplies are within reasonable reach.

It is important to note that some reviews indicate a lack of traditional campground amenities often found elsewhere. Specifically, mentions of "no amenities, no walking trails, no bathhouse, no dog run, nothing!" suggest that campers should be prepared for a more self-contained experience, where their RV or tent setup provides most of their living needs. This focus on essential services like internet and trash, combined with a natural setting, caters to a particular type of camper who prioritizes connectivity and basic convenience over extensive recreational facilities.

Features / Highlights

Camp Rumslinger possesses several unique features and highlights, though some aspects are subject to varied guest perceptions. It's clear that the campground offers a distinct kind of experience:

  • Scenic Beauty and Natural Setting: One review praises the "beautiful scenery," indicating that the campground offers picturesque surroundings. This natural backdrop is a major draw for those seeking tranquility and a connection with the outdoors.
  • Spacious Area for Pets: For dog owners, having a "large area for our dogs to run along the creek" is a highly appreciated feature, providing ample space for pets to exercise and enjoy the natural environment.
  • Affordable Pricing: The sites are described as having a "reasonable price," making Camp Rumslinger an attractive option for budget-conscious campers, especially for extended stays.
  • Availability of Fresh Local Produce: The ability to "purchase fresh eggs while there" adds a charming and convenient farm-to-table element, offering a unique local experience.
  • Accommodating Management (from one perspective): One reviewer specifically noted that "Tabitha was a pleasure to work with and very accommodating," suggesting that guest service can be a positive aspect for some visitors.
  • Quiet and Unconventional Atmosphere: While some may view the lack of traditional amenities as a drawback, for others, it highlights a quiet, less commercialized camping experience that focuses on self-sufficiency and immersion in nature.

It is crucial to acknowledge that some reviews also highlight significant concerns, such as "40 plus chickens that get in your things and poop all over your stuff," and "owners walk around with their guns pointed at people’s camp site." These contrasting views indicate that the experience at Camp Rumslinger can be highly subjective and may not suit all campers. Prospective visitors should weigh these varied experiences when considering a stay.

Promotions or Special Offers
