Camp La-No-Che

41940 Boy Scout Rd, Paisley, FL 32767, USA

4.0
The arrival at this place was beautiful, unlike anything I’d ever seen. The place is big, Definitely can’t run out of options of things to do. The water is beautiful, The facilities are mediocre, but they are there!! And for it being a camp I kinda think that’s a big deal. I’m not sure what that powwow was or how it was Native American, that was rather disappointing. However it was quite interesting to see that there is a great outlet for boys and girls of young ages to be able to Learn and obtain life skills that you cannot get from being indoors or on video games . I gave this place three stars because there was a tick problem there!!! please beware bring something to kill ticks because it’s a lot like Las Vegas There, were the herpes comes back with you.. - kamryn Stinson

Camp La-No-Che, located at 41940 Boy Scout Road in Paisley, FL 32767, stands out as a true gem, offering an "unparalleled experience" for Scouts and non-Scouts alike. Nestled on the north shore of Lake Norris and near the southern border of the Ocala National Forest, this extensive 1,480-acre (and sometimes cited as 1,600-acre) facility is far more than just a place to pitch a tent; it's a dynamic hub for outdoor education, skill development, and unforgettable adventures.

One visitor perfectly captured the initial impression: "The arrival at this place was beautiful, unlike anything I’d ever seen." This speaks to the sheer scale and natural splendor of the camp, immediately setting the tone for an immersive outdoor experience. The sheer size of the camp means you "Definitely can’t run out of options of things to do," a significant advantage for active families and youth groups. From waterfront activities on Lake Norris to various land-based programs, there’s an adventure waiting for every interest.

While one reviewer mentioned facilities being "mediocre, but they are there!! And for it being a camp I kinda think that’s a big deal," another offered a more glowing assessment: "Camp LaNoChe has everything you could ever hope for in a camp. Plenty of Merit Badges, High Adventure, Extracurricular Games and Activities, both tent camping as well as sites with 5 Adirondacks Screened Cabins which sleep 6-10 per cabin." This broader perspective highlights the comprehensive nature of the camp's offerings, going far beyond basic necessities. The presence of "laundry facilities at the camp, medical staff, and plenty of camp rangers who all are ready to help when needed" further underscores a commitment to guest well-being and convenience.

Camp La-No-Che is particularly renowned for its robust programming, especially for youth. As one reviewer eloquently put it, it's a "great outlet for boys and girls of young ages to be able to Learn and obtain life skills that you cannot get from being indoors or on video games." This mission-driven approach to outdoor education is a core part of its identity, making it a valuable resource for fostering growth and independence. While one comment touched on a "powwow" being "rather disappointing" in its Native American authenticity, the camp's dedication to exposing youth to diverse experiences and skills remains a strong point.

It's important for potential visitors to be aware of the natural environment, as one reviewer candidly warned about a "tick problem" and advised bringing "something to kill ticks." This is a common reality in Florida's natural areas, and preparation is key. However, this natural challenge pales in comparison to the immense benefits and opportunities the camp provides. In the subsequent sections, we will delve into the precise location and accessibility of Camp La-No-Che, the extensive services it offers, its remarkable features and highlights, how to contact them, and ultimately, why it is an ideal choice for Floridians seeking a truly comprehensive and enriching outdoor experience.

It sits on the north shore of Lake Norris, a large, beautiful lake that forms a vital part of the camp's extensive aquatics program. Furthermore, Camp La-No-Che is nestled near the southern border of the vast Ocala National Forest, providing a pristine backdrop and opportunities for extended exploration into one of Florida's most significant natural treasures.
