The campground's proximity to major attractions is a significant draw for local explorers. It's only about 20 minutes (roughly 14 miles) from the entrance to Mesa Verde National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its Ancestral Pueblo cliff dwellings. Jun 24, 2025 · jeff warnWe stayed here 1 night on the way back from Colorado to AZ. We will definitely be back in the future. If you like quiet (no road noise) and nice views this is the place for you in Cortez. We were in the Star Pad which is on a level concrete pad with full hookups (NOTE: only a few RV sites). They also have some basic cabins, Tee Pee's and tent camping and one small house. A really nice setup under cover for games (ping pong, corn hull and other games, couches/chairs). Also - looked to be a great kitchen. Basically also making this into a hostel. It is owned and run by a very nice couple. There is a map upon entry to help you find your way or ask to be texted it. Also..google maps says it is 3.6 miles on gravel when in fact it is less than 0.5 miles on a good gravel road.
