Boulder Creek Campground

Baker Lake Rd, Concrete, WA 98237, USA

4.0
Not a bad campsite but the campsite map makes it appear that #10 is the longest walk from the car but #9 was twice as far. My only complaint was no TP in the restroom on my last day of an 8 night stay. It still didn't have any when I left at 9:45 so I left a spare roll I brought just in case. Lol - Bill Martin

This article is crafted to provide a clear, engaging, and informative overview of Boulder Creek Campground for Washington locals. We'll explore its specific location and accessibility, the essential services it offers, and the unique features that make it a favorite among those who prioritize peace and natural exploration. Our aim is to help you determine if this quiet, forested gem aligns with your vision of the perfect Washington camping trip.

Location and Accessibility

Boulder Creek Campground is located on Baker Lake Rd, Concrete, WA 98237, USA, deep within the scenic Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Its position along Boulder Creek, close to the larger Baker Lake basin, provides a lovely forested setting.

To reach Boulder Creek Campground, typically from Sedro-Woolley, visitors take State Route 20 east for approximately 16 miles to milepost 82. From there, turn left (north) onto Baker Lake Highway (Forest Service Road 11). Continue for about 17.8 miles, and the sign for Boulder Creek Campground will be on your right. While it's accessible by standard vehicles, including trailers and RVs, it's important to remember that you'll be on a Forest Service road, which may be unpaved in sections and subject to varying conditions. As with all forest campgrounds, checking current road conditions with the Mt. Baker Ranger District before your trip is highly recommended, especially during shoulder seasons or after heavy weather. Its location, though somewhat remote, is a key part of its appeal, ensuring a quiet experience while still being within a reasonable drive for most Washington residents. The proximity to other campgrounds and attractions around Baker Lake means you can explore the wider area easily from your base at Boulder Creek.

Services Offered

  • Single-Family Campsites:

Boulder Creek Campground offers 10 single-family campsites. These sites are designed to accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs, providing flexibility for different camping styles. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring with a grate for cooking and campfires (always check for fire restrictions).

  • Group Campsite (Site 1):

A significant highlight is the dedicated Group Site 1. This site is described as "awesome!" and "very spacious," offering a private and secluded area separate from the other individual campsites. It comes with its own bathroom, which is shared but conveniently located at the edge of the group site. This makes it ideal for larger gatherings, ensuring privacy and ample space for your group.

  • Vault Toilets:

The campground provides vault toilets for sanitation. While rustic, reviews generally indicate they are well-maintained, though it's always wise to bring a spare roll of toilet paper, just in case, as one past visitor discovered.

  • No Potable Water:

A crucial detail for all visitors: Boulder Creek Campground does not have potable (drinking) water available on-site. Campers must bring their entire supply of water for drinking, cooking, and sanitation. This requires careful planning and sufficient hydration for the duration of your stay.

  • No Cell Service:

Consistent with its remote forest setting, there is "zero cell service up there." For many, this is a welcome feature, allowing for a complete digital detox and an uninterrupted connection with nature and fellow campers.
