Boone KOA Holiday Introduce
For North Carolina residents yearning for a refreshing escape to the cool, crisp air of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Boone KOA Holiday offers an inviting and convenient retreat. Nestled in the scenic hills just a short distance from the vibrant town of Boone, this campground provides a tranquil setting that perfectly balances the allure of mountain serenity with easy access to local attractions. It's a cherished destination for families, couples, and solo travelers alike, consistently praised for its peaceful atmosphere and well-kept grounds.
Boone KOA Holiday holds a unique distinction as one of the highest KOA campgrounds east of the Mississippi, boasting an elevation of nearly 4,000 feet. This elevation contributes to an average summer temperature of a comfortable 73 degrees, offering a delightful respite from the summer heat found in lower elevations. Visitors frequently commend the campground for being "clean and appeared to be well cared for," with many highlighting the friendly staff and excellent facilities. Whether you're pulling in a large RV, pitching a tent under the tall trees, or opting for the comfort of a cabin, Boone KOA Holiday is designed to ensure a memorable and relaxing outdoor experience.
From its quiet, secluded feel in the hills to its proximity to the charm of Boone, this campground strikes an ideal balance. It’s a place where you can unwind by a crackling campfire, explore the surrounding natural beauty, and still be just minutes away from dining, shopping, and entertainment. For North Carolinians, Boone KOA Holiday truly embodies the spirit of a rejuvenating mountain getaway, offering everything you could ask for in a camping destination.
Boone KOA Holiday is strategically located at 123 Harmony Mountain Ln, Boone, NC 28607, USA, positioning it perfectly for those looking to explore the natural beauty and attractions of North Carolina's High Country. Despite being "very quiet and secluded in the hills," as noted by a reviewer, the campground is remarkably accessible and not far from downtown Boone, NC.
This prime location offers a significant advantage for locals. It's close enough to the amenities and charm of Boone, including Appalachian State University, local restaurants, breweries, and shops, typically just a few miles away. This means campers can enjoy the peace of the campground while having easy access to town for supplies, dining out, or exploring the local culture.
For those traveling by road, the campground boasts "easy access from Blue Ridge Parkway on US 321 or 421." However, the KOA website provides specific GPS tips and directions, advising against certain narrow or unpaved roads to ensure a smooth journey, especially for RVs. They recommend routes that involve traveling on US 421S through downtown Boone to NC194N/Jefferson Hwy, then a left onto Ray Brown Road. This attention to detail ensures that even larger rigs, like the 35' fifth wheel mentioned in a review, can navigate to the "nice new gravel" sites with relative ease, despite some sites being a "bit tight" for very large vehicles. The elevation of nearly 4,000 feet not only provides cooler temperatures but also offers scenic mountain views, making the journey and the stay equally rewarding.

Boone KOA Holiday Reviews
Campground was clean and appeared to be well cared for. Our site is a pull through with noce new gravel and a newer retaining wall. Nice picnic table and a small fire pit. The site is a bit tight for our 35' fifth wheel and our truck, but we squeezed them in. The site is only a little out of level, so we were able to easily level the rig up. Not far from Boone, NC, but very quiet and secluded in the hills.

May 03, 2025 · FDS FROMDSOUTHThe staff are super helpful and nice. Most sites are at least a bit shaded but everyone found a way to connect to their satellites. Wifi is fine, not great. Showers and baths are clean with good water pressure even though they are a bit dated. On site putt putt is designed for little ones but made me feel very accomplished. LOL. Grounds are nice and attended to frequently. Lots to do within driving distance.
Oct 30, 2024 · Belinda isahappygirlAfter many years of camping up at the Boone KOA, it still is the best, most relaxing and enjoyable place to camp. You won't be disappointed. Simple but has everything you need. Quiet, peaceful, a few donkeys and even a cow or two in the distance. Just a great place.
