Blue Lake Campground, while known for its seasonal focus, provides a range of services aimed at supporting its long-term residents and occasional transient visitors. Understanding these offerings helps set expectations for a stay at this unique Indiana campground.
- Seasonal Campsites: The primary service offered by Blue Lake Campground is its provision of seasonal campsites. This means that a significant portion of the park is dedicated to campers who rent their spots for the entire season, creating a stable and familiar community. These sites typically come with necessary hookups for RVs, such as electricity and water, though specific amenities might vary per site.
- Limited Regular Campsites: While the majority are seasonal, the campground does offer a few regular, non-seasonal campsites. These are available for shorter stays, catering to those who might be passing through or looking for a brief camping experience. Availability for these sites may be limited due to the campground's seasonal preference.
- Access to Water Activities (Conditions Apply): The campground is located near Blue Lake. While customer reviews mention issues with the "beach" and water quality (seaweed and algae), the availability of kayaks for free use suggests an effort to provide water-based recreation. It is prudent for visitors to inquire about current lake conditions and available watercraft.
- Friendly and Accommodating Staff/Community: Although not a formal "service" in the traditional sense, the campground's consistently highlighted feature is the friendliness of its staff and the overall community. This creates a welcoming atmosphere where visitors feel comfortable and supported during their stay.
Blue Lake Campground possesses several distinct features and highlights that contribute to its unique character and appeal, particularly for its dedicated seasonal campers and visitors from across Indiana.

Many campers return year after year, forming friendships and creating a welcoming, almost "retirement community" like atmosphere. This sense of belonging is a major draw for those seeking a consistent and friendly camping experience.
- Exceptional Friendliness of Residents: Consistently praised in reviews, the people at Blue Lake Campground, both fellow campers and staff, are noted for being "VERY friendly!" This genuine warmth and openness contribute significantly to the positive overall experience and create an inviting environment for newcomers and long-term residents alike.
- Peaceful Lakeside Setting: Despite specific conditions on the beach, the campground's location on Blue Lake offers a serene and picturesque backdrop. The natural surroundings contribute to a relaxing atmosphere, ideal for those looking to unwind and enjoy the tranquility of an Indiana lakeside setting.
- Complimentary Kayak Use: A thoughtful amenity mentioned by a reviewer is the availability of kayaks for free use. This provides an opportunity for campers to enjoy the lake, offering a pleasant recreational activity, especially for those looking to get out on the water.
- A Sense of Tradition: For seasonal campers, Blue Lake Campground represents a summer tradition. Blue Lake Campground Reviews
This was a nice campground but needed a lot of work. Also, this was mostly seasonal campsites with very few regular campsites available, almost seemed like a retirement community. I will say everyone here was VERY friendly! The beach had so much seaweed and algae I wouldn’t let the kids swim. Paddle boats were not available although they let us take the kayaks for the day for free. Overall it was okay, not a bad experience, although I wouldn’t recommend to my friends or family.
Jun 17, 2025 · Natalie FeldbaumerWe love this seasonal campground. The campground community is what makes this place great! Every summer we look forward to spending our time here.
Apr 23, 2025 · Kevin DrewMan I don’t even know where to start. We tent camped for 2 nights. Price was $70 for both nights per site which I feel is very reasonable. The lake is beautiful. The beach is clean and very relaxing to chill out at.Bath house/ restroom is super clean and well maintained. The only negative thing I can say is I wish the shower water was adjustable for temperature. The store/ office: everyone working is super friendly and makes you want to feel at home like they have known you forever. The ice cream is amazing, and they have all the essentials you’ll need if you forget something. Ice, firewood, aloe, advil, etc!The site we were on had full hookups for campers and what not, so it’s not like they put you off somewhere just because you have a tent.Definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs a getaway right on a beautiful lake! I will be back in the future
Jun 30, 2024 · Andrew StoltzThe park is ok. It's really not built for large rigs. Roads are kinda narrow. Unfortunately our site was right next to the over flowing dumpsters so our rig smelled of garbage each time we opened the door. There's a covered tent for the residents which is nice for them. Not us. They were partying until almost 2 am drove my dogs crazy all night. People walk right through your site when ever they want. Lots of stuff in the area to do which was nice. There's a lake there which looks very nice. And some pretty nice people there. The young girl is the office was super nice and polite. Shes only 16 but handles herself wonderfully. She tried to correct the people walking thru sites but it didn't help. I give her a 10 in customer care. She even came by in the evening to see if there was anything she could do. Laundry room was out of order the entire 2 weeks we were there. The maintenance man came by and cut the low hanging branches off our roof or we would have taken them with us, so that was nice.
Jul 23, 2024 · patricia winnegarSmall nice area for a get a away weekend. My family had a get together and the area is nice. The bathrooms are in good condition. The only complaint I have is that there are several children driving around on golf carts, but when my daughter was driving one, she got stopped and asked for her license once (which she does have) and told to slow down when she was completely stopped. Then my niece was driving around and then also immediately stopped. It seems they treat visitors different than those who live there. The other kids riding around were no older than 11 or 12 and I doubt they were told anything, as they rode around the entire day we were there. Just be aware if you have teens and they ride the carts.
