The Black Mountain Yellow Post Sites are conveniently located on the Black Mountain Truck Trail in Whitewater, CA 92282, USA. This location places it within a reasonable driving distance for many residents across Southern California, making it an excellent choice for a weekend trip or a longer outdoor excursion. While the name "Truck Trail" might suggest a challenging journey, access to these sites is surprisingly manageable. According to visitors, the road leading to the yellow post sites is "easily driveable even in a 2 wheel drive," with "paved" switchback turns for smoother navigation. However, it's important to note that while some sedans might make it, "4x4 and high clearance is recommended" for optimal comfort and to handle any unmaintained sections of the "90% dirt" road, which can have "some ruts and dips." Great quiet place to get away. Not too much traffic but occasional fellow 4x4 passing thru. Yellow posts are pretty tucked back from the road so you have some privacy. Road is easily driveable even in a 2 wheel drive. Some switchback turns long the way but there paved to make it easy. Great road, great scenery, great timeI prefer this one over Bee Canyon by alot.Enjoy.
Nov 30, 2024 · Robert SteeleThis place totally sucks.... just kidding. I fell in love with Black Mountain and selfishly want to keep it all to myself. But alas! 4x4 and high clearance is recommended by I've seen a small sedan with 4x4 make it up. The road is 90% dirt and not maintained, so there are some ruts and dips. Made it up with a 2nd gen Tacoma no problem. There are 4 yellow post camp sites that are massive and several hundred feet from the neighboring site. Group campsites were closed July '23. No amenities so pack everything in you need. Worth the drive! Pack well and check it out.
Jul 14, 2023 · Adam LeeAwsome place to go and tent it up for a few days. If you go to the right spot you can see the dinosaurs across the ten freeway. You'll need binoculars to do so.
