Big Sage Campground Reviews
Small campground directly off main road. Campsites are about 50 to 100 feet from the road. Campground itself is very easy to find and is less than 10 min from town. The best thing about the campground is its proximity to the water with plenty of sandy beaches. The kids loved playing in the water. We also saw multiple groups setting off paddle boards and kayaks from the beach. Other activities close by are a 9 hole golf course 3 min down the road and the boat ramp 5 min down the road. Not too many hiking trails nearby besides the paved trail running the length of the campground by the water. The worst thing about the campground is the total lack of shade trees. We visited memorial day weekend and the sun got to be too much. We brought our canopy and very glad we did as it was the only shade available at our camp site. Each campsite does have potable water and there are dumpsters on site for trash collection. There are a few spots with power but the majority do not. Generators are welcome and there were a lot when we were there so be prepared for a little noise during the day, especially if it's hot,There are a few vault toilets on site as well. The RV dump site is 5 min down the road (by the boat ramp) in a different campground but still within the state park.I'm not sure we will return just due to the no shade factor and the fact there are other campgrounds that are just as close to the water.
May 28, 2025 · Michael BaxterWe stayed at this beautiful Idaho State campground right on the banks of Lake Cascade. The park is well maintained, clean with several RV campsites either pull-thru or back-in, all have water and some have electricity. Our pull-thru site was almost perfectly level, water only and located near the shoreline, there is a pathway and landscaping between our site 212 and the water. The views are simply beautiful everywhere you look and we saw a pair of Bald Eagles flying around over the lake. Cell service was great with full bars on Verizon and 3 with AT&T.We had other arrangements at a National Forest campground across the lake but upon arriving there we quickly realized our rig wouldn't make it up the slope at the site with a hump at the top, we would certainly bottom out! We had to find other accommodations for the night, frustrating.Luckily for us we called the number on the website for Big Sage campground and found this beautiful site at Big Sage campground. We made it to our site and filled out the registration envelope but made a mistake on our registration not realizing that we should have received a 50% discount because we're over 62, After placing the envelope in the collection tube. In the morning I found Donna the camp host out and about, and told her I had made the mistake of paying full price, she quickly came up with a solution and contacted the rangers station. I received a call from Jenny at the Lake Cascade office who helped me with a great plan, all said and done we were able to make a new registration with the discount! Kudos to both Donna and Jenny for going above and beyond to help us out, Donna made sure everything worked out. There are several RV campgrounds and parks along Lake Cascade that are run by State parks and recreation, all beautiful with breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding mountains, we will be back and stay longer. We recommend these amazing state parks to all looking for a beautiful place to camp and enjoy all that Lake Cascade has to offer. Thank you again Donna and Jenny for making our stay a wonderful experience.
Jun 07, 2023 · John E.Lake Cascade State Park is a great place to visit. Mid week is relatively quiet and not a lot of people on the beaches. Regular campsites are very good size...companion campsites are huge. Under an hour and a half drive from the Boise area. Good supplies in town nearby
Aug 19, 2020 · GeneGreat beach, sites are spaced nicely apart. Swimming good and cold. Host Fred works morning to night maintaining the place. Sunset views are awesome
Jul 29, 2023 · John BWe visited here for the first time today and its gorgeous. If we didn't have a cabin nearby we would camp here for sure. Its clean and has wheelchair accessible restrooms located throughout the campground. Accessible to beautiful beach areas and it looks like a safe place for kids to ride bikes and play.. and the sunsets are captivating. 💖🧡💛💙
