Battlefield Campground Introduce
shiloh national military park camping, shiloh battlefield campground
For those Tennesseans with a passion for history, a love for the outdoors, or simply seeking a straightforward and convenient base for exploring one of the nation's most significant Civil War sites, Battlefield Campground in Shiloh, Tennessee, offers a unique opportunity. This is not a luxury resort, but rather a "no-frills" campground that prides itself on its exceptionally close proximity to the hallowed grounds of Shiloh National Military Park. If your primary goal is to immerse yourself in the rich history of the Battle of Shiloh, or if you're a Scout Troop embarking on a historic hike, you'll find Battlefield Campground to be an incredibly practical and welcoming choice.
Battlefield Campground provides a simple yet effective solution for your overnight needs. It's a place where the focus is on easy access to the battlefield, a friendly atmosphere, and a return to the basics of camping. While some may prefer more extensive amenities, those who appreciate a direct connection to history and a budget-friendly option will find this spot ideal. The welcoming nature of the owners and staff, often highlighted by returning visitors, ensures that you'll feel right at home. It's a campground that understands its purpose: to serve as a convenient and comfortable launching point for exploring the solemn and educational landscapes of Shiloh National Military Park, a truly unique experience for locals and visitors alike.
Battlefield Campground is strategically located at 69 Jordan Rd, Shiloh, TN 38376, USA. Its most significant advantage is its direct adjacency to Shiloh National Military Park, literally right across the highway. This unparalleled proximity makes it an exceptionally convenient choice for Floridians whose primary interest is visiting the battlefield. You can easily walk or bike from your campsite directly to the park entrance, saving time and hassle with parking or travel.
While Shiloh itself is a smaller community centered around the National Military Park, the campground's location in southwest Tennessee places it within reasonable driving distance of larger towns for additional services and attractions. Savannah, Tennessee, is considered the closest town to Shiloh Battlefield, offering more amenities like dining and shopping. Corinth, Mississippi, just south of Shiloh, also provides various hotels and services, including the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center. For Floridians traveling from different parts of the state, accessing Shiloh is typically via major highways like US 72 if coming from the west (Memphis area) or I-40 West to Highway 22 South if coming from the northeast (Nashville area). The immediate surroundings of the campground are rural, characterized by open fields and some trees, providing a peaceful backdrop despite the noticeable but manageable road noise from the nearby highway. This combination of seclusion and direct access to a major historical site makes the location highly appealing for its specific purpose.
Battlefield Campground focuses on providing essential services for campers, emphasizing convenience and a straightforward approach to outdoor stays. While it might be described as "no frills," it aims to cover the fundamental needs for a comfortable overnight experience.

It is a field with some trees and a not great bath house. We camped 2 nights. Noise from the road is very noticeable because a lot of trucks travel on it.
Jun 27, 2025 · Christopher LindseyThis is a no frills campground. What you bring is what you have. Bathrooms need repair and upgrading badly. For me, this is the ONLY negative part for this campground. Owners are very friendly and easy to get along with. Right across the highway from the battlefield, easy access for Scout Troops to start their hikes. Definitely recommend this place! Our Troop has been there every year since 2005, except one (Covid).
May 13, 2023 · William RidgewayThe folks who own the place bent over backwards to help me and my family out. They had really low rates too. I was only minutes away from the entrance to Shiloh Battlefield, and I could see the battlegrounds from my campsite. During the weekend we bought homemade pies, jams, soap, and treats from the local Amish folks who set up a stand on the corner. The showers are hot and the views are wonderful. I plan on staying there again.
Apr 07, 2021 · Patrick SchwankoffIf you are visiting the area for the Shiloh experience, or just passing through as we were, this is the place to camp. Clean, spacious and so very close to everything. I stopped at the gas station a quarter mile away because my cell was not working. The owner gave me his phone to do what I needed. Complete stranger, did all he could to help. Says a lot about this community. The campground is perfectly placed. Hot water, showers, everything we could want. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners, Bill and Karen. Very nice people. Bill made sure we had everything we needed, had a good camp spot, and everything was going well. We sat and talked a while with Bill. Great guy. If you get the chance to stay near Shiloh Battlefield, this is where you want to camp. Take the time to talk to Bill and Karen, say hello. We didn't have time to visit the battlefield on this trip, and look forward to coming back.
Jan 10, 2021 · P GEven though it is close to the freeway, I am giving this campground 5 stars due to the gentleman who runs it , cleanliness, and pleasant atmosphere. Our main goal was to find a campsite where we could walk the civil war battlegrounds and this was an awesome spot. Our first night the guy who runs it showed up to introduce himself and offer help if we needed anything. The bathrooms and showers were clean and the battleground walk was great. No complaints and we will be going back again. Also our four dogs had a fun time :) for the history buffs- you'll love the museum down the road.
