Bass Lake Park

Fox Lanes Rd, Hinton, WV 25951, USA

3.0
Just up river from Brooks Falls and opposite the Chute. Close to Hinton, Bluestone Dam, the merging of the Greenbrier River to the New, and Sandstone Falls via the other side of the river. Good fishing on the river, hosts events for 4th of July and such. There was a time this was a great place. The owner has a special needs relative they refuse to properly account for. Wanders the park, yelling at folks, walks onto camper decks... you need to keep your doors locked or he has been known to just come on in. If you say you feel uncomfortable, you're out. Period. It's just a matter of time before something happens. Lock your doors. Water off in the campers Oct-Apr, bath house works though. Not a public campground. - Bo Lugknuts

The availability of a bathhouse, even with seasonal water adjustments to individual sites, indicates a level of comfort for campers.

However, it is crucial for fellow West Virginians to consider all aspects of the available information when deciding if Bass Lake Park is the right fit. The provided customer reviews highlight some very serious concerns that prospective visitors should be aware of. Comments such as "The owner has a special needs relative they refuse to properly account for. Wanders the park, yelling at folks, walks onto camper decks... you need to keep your doors locked or he has been known to just come on in. If you say you feel uncomfortable, you're out. Period. It's just a matter of time before something happens. Lock your doors" and "The owner is a money grubbing crook who will have you followed. Make up lies and try to ruin your reputation just bc she loves drama. Stay away from this place as long as she has anything to do with it!!" are extremely alarming. These direct accounts from real customers suggest significant issues with safety, privacy, and management. While the location and natural amenities are enticing, these serious warnings about potential disturbances and conflicts with management should not be overlooked.

Ultimately, while Bass Lake Park's geographical advantages offer an enticing portal to the New River Gorge's splendor, it is imperative for West Virginia locals to weigh these benefits against the very real concerns raised by previous visitors. Prospective campers are strongly advised to exercise caution, potentially seek more current reviews or directly engage with the campground management to address these issues before making a reservation. The decision to camp here should be made with a full understanding of both the natural beauty it offers and the reported challenges.
