While every camping experience has its nuances, this KOA is designed to be a comfortable and accessible spot from which to explore the stunning Oregon coastline.
Our beautiful state is renowned for its diverse landscapes, and the Southern Coast is particularly captivating with its rugged cliffs, expansive beaches, and charming seaside communities. The Bandon / Port Orford KOA Journey positions you perfectly to discover these treasures, whether your passion is tide pooling, lighthouse hopping, or simply enjoying the ocean breeze. It aims to provide the essential amenities that make a camping trip enjoyable, while also serving as a central hub for day trips to iconic Oregon attractions.
For local Oregonians, finding a reliable and feature-rich campground along the coast can enhance weekend getaways and longer vacations significantly. This KOA offers a setting that, while varied in site types, generally provides a quiet environment and a range of facilities to support a comfortable stay, allowing you to focus on the exploration and relaxation that the Oregon Coast famously offers.
The Bandon / Port Orford KOA Journey is conveniently located at 46612 US-101, Langlois, OR 97450, USA. Its position directly on Highway 101, approximately 18 miles south of Bandon and 10 miles north of Port Orford, makes it easily accessible for travelers navigating the Oregon Coast. This strategic placement allows campers to effortlessly reach two of the Southern Oregon Coast's most beloved towns, each offering unique attractions and local charm.
Being nestled between Bandon and Port Orford means a wealth of activities are within a short drive. Bandon is famous for its dramatic sea stacks, Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint, the Coquille River Lighthouse, and its charming Old Town with unique shops and galleries. Port Orford, Oregon's oldest townsite on the coast, boasts a unique "dolly dock" where fishing boats are craned into the water, Battle Rock State Park, and the historic Port Orford Heads State Park with its old Coast Guard Station and scenic trails. Further afield, but still accessible, are attractions like Cape Blanco State Park and Lighthouse, the westernmost point in the contiguous United States, and Floras Lake, popular for windsurfing and kiteboarding.
The campground's direct highway access simplifies arrival and departure, making it an efficient choice for those traveling with RVs or trailers. While the highway is close, many sites are tucked away in the 8 acres of native Oregon trees, providing a sense of seclusion and quietness from the road noise. This blend of accessibility and a natural setting is a key advantage for Oregonians looking to explore the beautiful and rugged Southern Coast.
RV Sites: The KOA offers a variety of RV sites, including pull-through options with 50-amp service. Many sites are surrounded by trees, offering a sense of privacy. Some RV sites may have unique hookup layouts (e.g., central connections making hose/cord routing tricky) or be unlevel, which guests should be aware of. Full hookup sites include water, electric, and sewer. Water/electric-only sites are also available, with a dump station on property (for a fee) and a "Honey Wagon" service for pumping tanks (also for a fee).
Tent Sites: The campground provides individual tent sites, some with water and electric hookups on a gravel tent pad, and others with no hookups for a more rustic experience. These sites are often tucked into the woods, aiming for that "in the forest" camping feel with picnic tables and fire pits.
Rental RVs/Cabins: The campground offers rental accommodations, including RVs and cabins. One rented RV experienced issues with cigarette smoke smell, a potentially broken heater (space heater provided), drafty windows, and an uncomfortable master mattress and pull-out beds, indicating variability in rental unit quality. Basic kitchen supplies are provided but may be minimal.
Restrooms and Showers: The campground provides clean bathrooms and hot showers, which are frequently praised by visitors, making freshening up after a day of exploring convenient.
Laundry Facilities: Laundry facilities are available, a helpful amenity for longer stays or cleaning up after outdoor activities.
Seasonal Heated Pool and Hot Tub: A large, heated seasonal pool and a 14-foot-long hot tub are available, typically open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. These are great for unwinding and fun for the family.
Recreation Room: A recreation room is on-site, featuring some movies, a few old games, and possibly a pool table or other entertainment options. It also serves as a book exchange and a place to relax or watch TV.
Fenced Dog Area: A dedicated, fenced area for dogs is available, making it convenient for pet owners to let their furry friends exercise safely. Non-aggressive pets are welcome on a leash at RV and tent sites, and in accommodations for a fee.
Camp Store: A small store is available for purchasing basic necessities, including firewood. However, some guests noted that the firewood purchased was wet, making it difficult to start a fire.
Wi-Fi Access: Wi-Fi is available, though its speed may be minimal, suitable for basic Browse rather than heavy streaming.
BERG Bike Rentals: Pedal go-karts are available for rent, providing a fun activity for kids and families to ride around the park.
Gaga Pit: A gaga pit is located in the playground area, offering a fun, active game for all ages.
Friendly and Helpful Hosts/Employees: Many visitors highlight the welcoming and supportive nature of the campground hosts and employees, which significantly enhances the overall experience.
Wooded and Beautiful Campground: The 8 acres of native Oregon trees provide a naturally beautiful setting and contribute to a sense of privacy between campsites, creating a more "woodsy" feel than some other KOA locations.
Quiet Atmosphere: Despite having many sites and amenities, the campground is often described as very quiet, contributing to a peaceful and relaxing stay, particularly beneficial for those camping in their own RVs or tents.
Excellent Base Camp Location: Its prime location between Bandon and Port Orford makes it an ideal base for exploring the vast array of attractions, beaches, and activities along the Southern Oregon Coast.
Kids' Bike Riding: The park's layout and internal roads are enjoyable for children to ride their bikes around, providing a simple yet popular recreational activity.
Clean Facilities: The cleanliness of the bathhouses and showers is consistently praised, a crucial aspect for comfortable camping.
Privacy in Many Sites: Thanks to the trees and strategic fencing, many campsites offer a good degree of privacy, enhancing the feeling of a secluded escape.

Bandon / Port Orford KOA Journey Reviews
We rented an RV the Big Country over spring break. The hosts are very nice and helpful. We arrived Thursday night and did self-check in, we were excited to stay in an RV since we used to have one. When we opened the door we were hit with an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke. There were several cans of air freshener and some empty plug-in air fresheners, but it really didn't help. We opened all the windows and tried to air it out since I am very sensitive to smells.I think the heater was broken in the downstairs area because they provided a space heater, but the windows were also drafty. The mattress in the master is not conformable if you have any back problems, don't rent this RV. The pull out beds are really only for kids, way more uncomfortable than the master. The trailer was sweep clean. It had lots of cobwebs in the windows and on the ceiling, it needs a deep clean. The kitchen had just the minimum supplies to make very simple meals, the kitchen cleaning supplies were lacking, the scrub brush needed to be replaced, I tossed it the trash because it was disgusting. The bathroom was well stocked with towels. A pod type coffee maker is provided but I highly recommend bringing your own. We purchased wood/lighter/fire starter at the little store but the wood was wet so we could never get our fire started. We had very sad kids. They had a fenced dog area. They have a rec room that had some movies and a few old games. The campground was very quiet and would be a great place to camp with your own trailer/tent.It's about 30 minutes from Brandon and closer to Port Orford and there is a lot to see and do in this area so it is a good base camp. Our kids did enjoy riding bikes around the park. I would like to come back but stay in my own tent
Mar 31, 2025 · Alishia DrydenOk so some of the sites look super nice but you don't know what you get until you get there. We paid a lot for a tiny patch of grass between two roads, no trees, just a glorified lawn. And it cost just as much as the nice spots surround by trees. Would not recommend unless you get to pick your site.
Jul 02, 2025 · Amanda Smith-TreadwellTotal service oriented. Friendly personnel. Located about an hour from food & medical facilities. Sites are well kept, garbage is collected daily from site, and firewood is delivered to your site. Play equipment, pool,,hot tub, basketball court with balls. Great place
