When considering your next camping trip in Arizona's high country, AZ High Country Campground is worth choosing for several key reasons. The most significant factor is the warm and welcoming atmosphere created by the new on-site ownership. Their dedication to guest satisfaction and the community feel of the park transforms a simple stay into a memorable experience. Furthermore, its strategic location offers the best of both worlds: a quiet, shaded retreat surrounded by nature, with easy access to the resources and attractions of nearby towns like Show Low and Heber-Overgaard. The full-service amenities for RVs, including full hookups and a propane station, add a layer of convenience that is hard to beat. While some reviews mention tight spaces for large rigs or spotty cell service, these are minor considerations that can be planned for, especially given the great water pressure and working utilities. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Absolutely the best campground we've stayed at in Arizona. The owners are on site, very friendly and always willing to help with your needs.Bathrooms/showers are under full remodel (no photos at this time), lots of mature trees and shade, not far from Show Low, Heber-Overgaard or forests. Very, very quiet and peaceful.Full hookup sites and propane fill station on site.Would absolutely recommend, and will return next fall.
October 13 · Brian JansenUnder new ownership. These folks treated us like family and we really enjoyed our stay. They spent a lot of time with me on the phone before hand to make sure they had a spot I would be happy with. I feel like it’s a little tight to move around with my rig but we were able to get in and out. Only used the facilities once on the way out and it was clean and in order. I would like to visit again if we can get a big flat spot. The water pressure was great and the sewer and power worked fine. The WIFI did not work and low cell phone signals. Be prepared with StarLink or something if you need to work remote.
July 21 · NeomaxizondweebyThis rustic campground with full hookups is wonderful. The sites have lots of shade and there is plenty of room between sites. The hosts Mike and Susan have happy hour every night at 4 just outside their home so you get to meet your neighbors. It is very quiet at night and you can hear the elk calling from the meadow and the coyotes yipping. We highly recommend this campground and will definitely be back. If you want concrete pads and the sterile campground experience- go elsewhere.
September 18 · B BergThank you for not allowing Pit Bulls in your facility. It is your property and you have that right. If you do not feel it safe for yourselves and those of us who choose to own a non agressive breed, "Thank You!"You have my business and we appreciate your concern.
June 18 · Allen Thomas MMy wife, daughter and I had the opportunity to spend a few days here in early July. The camp hosts were outstanding. They provided excellent input on the area and even took one day to go ATVing with us - showing some of the more beautiful parts of the Rim - elk, deer, wild horses, all manner of birds. We love rock-hounding and were able to find a wide variety of rocks. We also loved their afternoon Happy Hour (4ish). We sat under awning while watching the rain blow in, met several people from back home (literally within a mile of each other back in IL), and simply had a blast telling stories and laughing lots over a couple of drinks. If you are looking for a spot to park your rig for a bit and get out and explore the Rim, The Arizona High Country Campground, could be the right place for you and yours.
