Arapaho Bay Roaring Fork Campground Reviews
I wasn't sure how great a remote campsite would be, but I was pleasantly surprised. Most of the sites that are closest to the lake have beautiful 180° views. The campground itself is far enough away to be remote, yet close enough to civilization to drive for supplies, firewood, etc. (there's even firewood available at the camp hosts' spot). I also have to say that -- for a campground -- these are the cleanest restrooms I have ever seen. The staff who take care of them must take great pride in their work! In addition, every site appeared to have a large bear box, which will fit most decent size coolers and plenty of other supplies. Campsites also have a nice permanent metal grill with an adjustable grate.Personally, I stayed at site 59. It is a little bit of a walk from the parking space, but it boasts views of the lake, the mountains, and a nearby stream. A nice thing about it. Is that the restrooms are not too far away... But the fact that it is close to the lake and to the stream would make it a good spot for both adults and children. Just remember to bring some sort of shade, as there are not any trees near site 59.
Sep 22, 2024 · James BrewsterAbsolutely beautiful area.We stayed in the Moraine loop which was fairly quiet considering the number of sites. Some sites are definitely bigger than others so check the tent pad size before you book.Walking around, I think the Roaring Fork loop might be a little louder, it has more sites on the water. There is not much for shade and it gets hot quick in the summer afternoon sun so pack accordingly.Vault toilets are immaculate. Also, there are active bears in the area. We saw one in our site, on our “Grizzly Bear Foundation Certified Bear Proof” Yeti cooler. Just because they can’t get in, doesn’t mean they won’t run away with it up a mountain. So make sure to follow the rules and pack everything away at night.
Jul 04, 2025 · Courtney KnitterWonderful campground, lake front spots, only $25.Firewood onsite is $9They have a few vault toilets throughout the campgroundSome tent only spots (no vehicle at campsite but vehicle is only 30-40yards away)Mostly drive up spots vehicles directly next to the campsiteWe stayed in early Sep, was warm in day & cold at night. Great stargazing we saw the Milky Way with our bare eyes.Road to the campground is very well maintained too for a dirt road it was no problem, campers & trailers would be fine to get here.
Oct 10, 2023 · Jordan KlotzHorrible. Camp host was extremely rude. When we talked to her, my husband was standing on what looked like a mat but come to find out was her solar panels (placed right in front of the door to her RV). My husband apologized profusely and didn't do any damage but she continued to say "Oh my god." about 20 times and then acted pissy. Move your solar panels where they can't easily be stepped on if you are so worried about them.Didn't get to stay here but the area looked beautiful. The camp sites were super close and no privacy at all. It was challenging for individuals with big RVs. Thankfully we just had our pop-up camper (15 ft) but anything bigger was proving difficult to back into these itty bitty spots. We will not visit again.
Jun 14, 2025 · Lauren RobinsonWonderful spot to camp!! View of Lake Granny. The Continental Divide Trail is easily accessible. Toilets are clean. Stage 2 fire ban made for an interesting food panic, but we managed. Definitely gets cold at night, so layer up!
