What sets American Legion Memorial Park apart are the unexpected services it offers, especially for a park that operates on a donation basis. These amenities significantly enhance the comfort and convenience for campers.
RV and Tent Camping: The park accommodates both RVers and tent campers, providing an "open space camping" environment. Sites are "dry camping" in nature, meaning individual hookups aren't always at every spot, but shared electrical access is a notable feature.
Electrical Access: A major highlight, as enthusiastically noted by visitors, is the availability of "electrical" hookups. This is a rare and highly valued amenity for a campground that operates on a donation system, allowing campers to power their devices or RVs.
Free Wi-Fi: Another exceptional service is the provision of "free Wifi that is pretty fast." In remote Montana, reliable internet access at a campground is a significant bonus, enabling campers to stay connected if needed.
Pit Toilets: Basic sanitation is provided through a "pit toilet" or "nicely done outhouses," ensuring essential restroom facilities are available.
Hand Pump Well (Non-Potable Water): The park features a "hand pump well that has non potable water." While not for drinking directly, this water source can be useful for general cleaning or other non-consumption needs. Campers should still bring their own potable water.
Shelter with Screens: A "shelter with screens" is available, offering a communal space for cooking or relaxing, which can be "very helpful for dealing with the mosquitos" in the area.
Donation-Based Stay: The campground operates on a donation system, allowing visitors to "make a donation that fit our budget." This flexible payment model makes it incredibly accessible and affordable for a wide range of travelers.
American Legion Memorial Park offers several compelling features that contribute to its "amazing place" reputation.

Jul 20, 2022 · Alexandar BarrattThis is a great stop in the beautiful big hole valley. Wisdom is full of really nice people and this campground has everything you would need. Wifi, toilets, water, and electricity and all for free. Don't be a cheapskate, if you use the facility, leave a donation.
Aug 29, 2018 · Okie NomadsAmazing place. Year-round access. Honor system! Very clean restrooms.
Oct 16, 2024 · Chuck DuncanThis camp is free, though donations are appreciated. It has a shelter with screened windows, a covered porch, and electricity plus outside spaces with fire pits and picnic tables. There is an outhouse with two stalls and a pump for NON-potable water. THERE IS Wi-Fi!A notebook inside the shelter says more improvements, like trees and an osmosis system for drinkable water, are planned.
