Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - West Michigan Reviews
Horrible management from the corporate level all the way down to the managers of this so-called “resort.” This place used to be a great family campground until it got bought out by the greedy corporate world. We had a seasonal here for years until Howard and Gayle became the managers. I’m not sure either of them could manage to find their way out of a paper bag, let alone a 350+ site “resort.” They took over management when bath houses were newly remodeled. Took less than one season for them to become inundated with black mold. There are many, many other issues I could point out to expose their lack of management as well as their inability to maintain the facilities and proper customer service skills.Prices have rapidly gone up since becoming a “resort,” to where an average family can no longer afford to stay here. What used to be a $2000 seasonal is now nearly $5000. There are several other local campgrounds without all the chaos, better customer service, and cleaner bathrooms all for the same rate that this “resort” used to charge. I encourage everyone to go support those small locally owned campgrounds before they all become overpriced “resorts” like Adventure Bound. Save yourself the money and the frustration of having to deal with Gayle and her crew. I’m telling you, she’s nasty!
Jun 05, 2025 · MartyMy wife, kids and I recently stayed at the West Michigan Campground from Friday, June 13th to Friday, June 20th.The weekend there was great (we found out there was a person from corporate visiting) and then the week was a 180 (corporate must have left). Terrible, rude employees, the Men's Bathroom was without soap for 3 days, the showers/bathrooms didn't get cleaned for well over 36hours (until I complained about them). The pool was fun except if there was the slightest wind we were told we couldn't have the umbrella open OR if you didn't have on the dang wristband. Which we were harassed about when asking for new ones (ours broke) even though we were trying to follow their rules. In summary, what started out as a promising weekend became a week of disappointment after the corporate person left. For almost $100 dollars a night, I would expect high standards regardless of if a corporate person is visiting or not. Honestly, this Campground is not all that great to begin with except for the pools. The bathrooms/shower house are outdated, the mini golf course is in dire need of an upgrade and the staff all could use some customer service training. The only thing it has going for it is the pool/Pirate Cove Slides and the newer playground. If you were to ask me if we would recommend Adventure Bound West Michigan, I would say no. Save your money and if you really want to use the Pools, then just make a day trip and pay the small usage fee.
Jun 21, 2025 · W DOur stay had some highs and lows. Right from the gated entrance, our first interaction with staff was less than welcoming. An older gentleman greeted us, but unfortunately, he came across as unfriendly and uninviting—not the best first impression.our experience improved once we got to the main office/store. Rebecca assisted us both times we stopped in, and she was absolutely wonderful—friendly, helpful, and very informative. We rented their on-site RV at site 36. The spacing between rentals was quite tight, seems like it was just for that particular site. We also noticed that our site didn’t have a picnic table, but after calling the office, one was delivered quickly—so we appreciated the responsiveness there.I had to clean out a disturbing amount of trash—plastic bottles, wrappers, latex gloves, a soiled diaper, breast milk bags, and foil from the fire ring just to be able to use it to make s’moresOn the plus side, the amenities were a huge hit with our kids. The water slides, two outdoor pools, and the little train ride really made their day and were definitely the highlight of the trip.Overall, we had a decent stay, but there are some key areas—especially cleanliness (RV could use a good sweep/walk through again just before guest arrive (dead bugs laying on the dishes in the cabinets and dirt on the queen bed mattress cover. Completely understand we are in the woods but for the RV rental cost. And first impressions—that needs attention to make this a truly great experience.
Jun 19, 2025 · tinarenaemThe waterpark was amazing, but the miniature golf was not very functionable. Didn’t know where to start and stop was full of Pineneedles not cleaned up at all. The beach had no sand to where you could just hang out. It was kind of more of a fishing spot, the staff was not that friendly. They seem to be overworked , camopsites were great! More friendly people and cleaner would be a great place to stay if not so expensive, to expensive for middle class families,,
Jul 02, 2025 · Rose RomineI wish so badly I could give a good review because I've been coming here since I was a child but I'd give it less then zero. My mom died when I was ten so my childhood memories and traditions really count to me but this year broke me. I get it.... Any bad review doesn't stop them from selling out so they'll never ever get better. They will Never change.... They'll tight lip smile with their stick up their asses and wave away the unhappy people because they get away with every bad thing. I walked into my motel room and it smelled so so bad!!!!!!! My car sick son had to sit outside in the hall for a half an hour before he could even ever the room long term without throwing up. I stayed in this exact room two years ago and the toilet DIDN'T flush...it was SO AWFUL.... Fast forward two years later same thing...... I sat in the bathroom and filled the trash can with water from the shower to try to get the toilet to flush and after five tries gave up. (I'm not embellishing because it really was more like 8) $120 for a new toilet by the way..... I just had to do it for my own home. It's wasnt that financially devastating and I have functioning plumbing.,...But no. They won't try to fix anything. It's gross here. White trash.. podunk.....and they treat you sooo poorly. Like you're the problem that they have a job.....It's like handmaids tale... You're the guests but bow down to the all empowering adventure bound employees because they HATE their jobs so much but can't find a real job and take their summer anger out on the guests.....I do house keeping.....I walk into homes every day I wish I could live in but I'll never be able to. The best I get to do is clean their toilets... This was My one escape to feel good aaallll year long (I literally only take two days off a year......) and I was treated so so so bad...My childhood kept me coming back... But their customer service broke me this time..... Have fun coming here everyone.. GOOD LUCK...I wish you all the best.....Also there's wifi specifically for motel guests.... Not a single staff member knows the password. It's all chaotic here. No one knows anything. They love to be entitled and power driven for sure ..but basic hotel customer service.... It's laughable.... They don't care about that
