1000 Islands Campground Reviews
I gave it 2 stars because they are one of few locations that give a Passport America discount on weekends. And the staff/site hosts are great. The sites were a fair size. You will need extra long water hose, electrical and sewage because of the configuration. The water spigot is to low to allow for you to hook up a water filter. There are very few amenities. I think kids would be bored within half a day.The showers are ok.There are NO laundry facilities. The skyview picture is deceiving. You can't access the water from the campground. They charge $1/ night for dogs. I'm not sure why as there is no off leash area or poo bags provided. And although I told them we have a service dog, I checked the receipt afterwards and get charged us. (Not allowed guys!!)Check out is 11 and check in is 4. I'm not sure what they need a 5 hour window for.The only reason to stay here is if you have Passport America. If you don't, it makes zero sense. There is what appears to be a new campground less than 2 miles up the road. (Swam Bay Campground and Marina) for $7 more a night, they are filled with amenities. Have paved sites. And are on the water! If I had to pay full price, I'd pay the extra for Swan.
Jun 12, 2025 · Jimmy OGreat campground! The staff were awesome, bathrooms very clean, walking distance to Grass Point State Park and close to both Clayton and Alexandria Bay. Lovely convenience store and delicious ice cream next door at Gal's Place. We'll be back!
Aug 13, 2024 · Vicki Herzl WatkinsWe are Canadians and I found this campground by fluke when searching Google to research our family vacation. We stayed here for 4 nights. The campground is decent size and the camp hosts are very friendly. The sites are a good size but we lucked out with a huge site and a 19 foot trailer. The washrooms are well kept and modern. The shower house is also nice with 4 separate rooms each having a shower, toilet and sink. I never had to wait to use the shower as we were here throughout the week and it wasn't busy. Weekends would likely be different as it sems ti be mostly seasonal sites. There is no pool, but the small playground would be good for younger children. Firewood is $5 a bundle which is a great deal. A 6 minute drive will bring you to the closest hamlet of Clayton which has a beautiful waterfront park, a grocery store and many quaint little stores. We did the Clayton Island Tour out to Rock Island Lighthouse. Back to the campground tho......as previously mentioned I am Canadian and my cell phone would not allow me to make any calls. I needed to get in touch with my family Dr. over a concern for my teenage son. Not knowing what else to do I went to the office, explained my situation and the camp host on duty allowed me to use the office phone to call my Dr. I offered to pay the long distance charge and was told not to worry about it. I would 100% reccomend this campground if you are in the area.
Aug 08, 2024 · Diane LawrenceBooked this last minute after spending a 90 degree night at Keewaydin without hookups. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The spots were more spacious than Keewaydin. The bathrooms were spotless. There was a dump station which was super convenient. Very convenient location close to Clayton and Alexandria Bay. We would definitely stay here again!
Jun 24, 2024 · Jennifer WojcikMy daughter and I spent 5 nights in one of the "Glamping tents". It was so nice not having to put up and take down our tent. Bathrooms and showers were ALWAYS clean. Everyone was friendly. Location is perfect, 10 mins from Clayton, Alex Bay and Wellesley Island. Cute ice cream place within walking distance (Gals Place), which is also a small store and Deli. Also within walking distance to the Beach at Grassy Point Park. Such a nice place!!
