St Mary's River Campground LLC Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For Florida locals seeking a direct connection to the state's beautiful waterways and a no-frills camping experience, St Mary's River Campground LLC in Hilliard, FL, presents a unique option. Situated right on the picturesque St. Marys River, this campground emphasizes access to aquatic adventures and a straightforward approach to outdoor living. It caters to those who prioritize immediate river access for boating and fishing, and appreciate a rustic, shaded environment.
As a small campground, St Mary's River Campground LLC focuses on providing essential amenities for a river-centric stay. One customer highlighted a "great boat ramp" and a "fantastic view of the St Marys River along the path leading down to the river front," specifically appreciating "the shade tree next to the parking." This suggests the campground's main appeal lies in its direct and convenient access to the river itself, making it a suitable choice for anglers, boaters, and those who enjoy waterside tranquility. While experiences can vary, the core offering of St Mary's River Campground LLC revolves around its prime location for river activities and its natural, shaded setting.
However, it is important to acknowledge that public reviews reflect a mixed bag of experiences. While some appreciate the river access and shade, other detailed accounts raise significant concerns about safety, cleanliness, proximity of sites, and overall management. These concerns include issues with water quality, unkempt long-term sites, alleged illegal activities, and a lack of amenities for children. Potential visitors should thoroughly consider these contrasting perspectives to determine if the campground aligns with their expectations for a safe and comfortable outdoor stay. Transparency about these varied experiences is crucial for potential visitors to make an informed decision.
Location and Accessibility
St Mary's River Campground LLC is located at 29506 Scotts Landing Rd, Hilliard, FL 32046, USA. This address places it directly on the banks of the St. Marys River, which forms a natural boundary between Florida and Georgia. For Florida locals, particularly those in the northeastern part of the state, Hilliard offers a relatively accessible drive. It's a rural community, providing a sense of escape from busier urban centers, while still being within reasonable reach of towns for supplies.
The campground's primary geographical advantage is its direct river frontage and dedicated boat ramp. This is a significant draw for boaters, kayakers, and anglers who want immediate access to the St. Marys River for fishing or leisurely cruises. Scotts Landing Road leads directly to the campground, ensuring straightforward navigation. While it offers a quiet, tucked-away feel, its proximity to major roads like US-301 (as indicated by external search results for "St Mary's River Fish Camp," which shares the same address and likely refers to the same location, or a closely associated one) means it's not entirely isolated. However, potential visitors should be prepared for the likelihood of dirt or gravel roads leading to the actual campsites, especially as the property leans towards a more rustic and less manicured aesthetic, as suggested by some reviews mentioning muddy conditions. This location is best suited for those who prioritize immediate river access over manicured park settings or extensive nearby urban amenities, embracing a truly natural, riverside experience.
Services Offered
Based on a combination of limited available information and common amenities for small, river-access campgrounds, St Mary's River Campground LLC likely offers the following services, though potential visitors should confirm directly due to varying public feedback:
- RV Sites: Likely includes sites with electric hookups (30 and possibly 50 amp) and water connections. Sewer hookups are also mentioned in some descriptions for the associated "Fish Camp."
- Boat Ramp: A key feature, providing direct access for launching boats onto the St. Marys River.
- Pet-Friendly: Generally allows pets, though leashing and waste policies should be observed.
- Parking: Available for vehicles, with specific mention of a "shade tree next to the parking" in a positive review.
- Picnic Area (potential): While one negative review states "No picnic tables," other general descriptions for "St Mary's River Fish Camp" sometimes list tables. This should be verified.
- Restrooms and Showers (potential): Some external listings for "St Mary's River Fish Camp" indicate restrooms and showers, though one detailed negative review specifically raises concerns about water quality and cleanliness.

- Campfires Permitted: Typically allowed in designated areas, subject to local fire restrictions.
- Convenience Store/Bait/Ice (potential): Some descriptions for "St Mary's River Fish Camp" mention a convenience store, bait, and ice.
It is crucial for any prospective visitor to contact the campground directly to confirm the availability and condition of all desired services, especially given the conflicting information in public reviews regarding cleanliness, water quality, and specific amenities like picnic tables.
Features / Highlights
St Mary's River Campground LLC's primary highlights center around its natural setting and river access. However, it's important to present these alongside concerns raised by some visitors for a balanced perspective:

- Scenic River Views: Offers a "fantastic view of the St Marys River along the path leading down to the river front," providing a picturesque natural backdrop.
- Shaded Parking: A positive aspect noted by a visitor, providing comfort for parked vehicles.

- Water Quality Issues: Allegations of water smelling like "raw sewage" and containing bacteria, with residents reportedly adding bleach to the well.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
St Mary's River Campground LLC, positioned on the scenic St. Marys River in Hilliard, FL, presents itself as an option for Florida locals who prioritize direct river access and a rustic, unpolished camping experience. For those whose primary goal is to launch a boat, fish, or simply enjoy the immediate views and shaded parking by the river, its "great boat ramp" and proximity to the water are undeniable advantages. This campground might appeal to a niche segment of the local population that values pure river recreation above all else and prefers a less developed, more natural setting.
However, it is crucial for any potential visitor from Florida to be fully aware of the significant and serious concerns articulated in some public reviews. While the convenience of river access is a highlight, the detailed complaints regarding cramped sites, alleged unhygienic water conditions, safety concerns (including reported incidents of arson and inappropriate behavior), and an overall sense of disarray among long-term residents cannot be overlooked. The strong recommendation from a traveling professional to "skip this one" and "pay the extra mileage and go into Jacksonville Florida or over to Kingsland Georgia and get a campground" underscores the potential for a highly negative experience, particularly for families with children or those seeking a clean and secure environment.
Therefore, while St Mary's River Campground LLC offers the appeal of direct river access, its suitability for Florida locals is highly conditional. It may only be considered by those who are prepared for a very primitive and potentially challenging environment, are self-sufficient regarding water and personal space, and have thoroughly investigated and mitigated the serious safety and hygiene concerns raised in public forums. For the majority of Floridians seeking a relaxing, safe, and enjoyable RV park experience, alternative campgrounds in the region that consistently receive positive feedback on safety, cleanliness, and amenities would likely be a more appropriate choice. Due diligence and direct communication with the campground are absolutely essential for any local considering a stay here.

St Mary's River Campground LLC Reviews
Small campground with a great boat ramp. Such a fantastic view of the St Marys River along the path leading down to the river front. I love the shade tree next to the parking.
May 02, 2025 · Leann CavinI can see that the google maps app doesn’t put our reviews here so here is our experience that is also on the google maps app. I would give it zero stars, but to leave a review it has to have one. The spots are way too close to the neighbors, long term people live here with make shift sheds and trash everywhere, the water that comes into your camper from this campground’s well smells like raw sewage which means bacteria is growing in their well which can make people sick, people who live here go to the well and put in bleach 🥴. There’s drama between the owner and her mother over the property, drama between the owner and her long term campers to the point a guy burned a camper that exploded due to propane tanks, that also burned the campers behind and in front of his and two cars was burned and damaged in the process. ( Kevin you will see his five star reviews below even though he is an arsonist ). There’s a guy who stopped my kids to twerk and dance on them ( Ricky is his name I do believe) this is unacceptable by all means. They let the long term residence put washers on make shift porches that drain down onto the ground flooding you out every time they do laundry. The campsites are so close together you can hear the person in front of you and behind you, you can’t let your awning out for this reason, want to sit outside? That is out of the question. No picnic tables and you can’t put chairs out there due to being too close. The couple in front of lot 36 complain all day long if you come outside your camper. The owner living in front of the campground should be running it better, but she just ignores everything. It’s extremely muddy have a car you love not the place for it. This is NOT a kid friendly campground nothing for kids to do other than be yelled at by the people who live here in very ran down campers cause they are outside. God forbid. Pay the extra mileage and go into Jacksonville Florida or over to Kingsland Georgia and get a campground. By all means skip this one.The day we left another camper was burnt this place is scary for people like me who travels with her kids. I made the mistake paying a month here as my husband is a IBEW traveling union electrician who is working at the Navy Submarine Base till August and found this was open. I will never again stay in this campground and don’t recommend it for any other traveling union workers or anyone for that matter. I have been traveling with the IBEW for years and this is the only campground I have EVER left a bad review for. We have had wonderful experiences while traveling, but not here.
