SKP Park of the Sierras Introduce
For the adventurous California RVer, the **SKP Park of the Sierras** in Coarsegold offers much more than just a place to park—it provides a welcoming, cooperative, and amenity-rich community base in the stunning Sierra Nevada foothills. This is not a typical overnight campground; it is a dedicated RV park established as a nonprofit co-op park specifically for members of the renowned **Escapees RV Club (SKP)**. For those embracing the full-time or extended RV lifestyle in California, this park represents a unique opportunity to find a semi-permanent home with a supportive social network.
Often referred to simply as "Park Sierra," this destination was founded in the late 1980s and was designed and built entirely by volunteer full-time RVers. This heritage is evident in its thoughtful layout of 254 spacious lots set among winding, hilly roads that preserve the native oak, pine, and manzanita vegetation. The atmosphere is consistently described by California visitors as "friendly," "welcoming," and "incredibly helpful," underscoring the success of its community-driven model. The entire park thrives on the volunteer spirit of its owners and residents, creating a true sense of belonging.
While the park is membership-based, requiring an active Escapees membership for short-term stays, it also offers a unique opportunity for long-term commitment. Interested full-timers, like the satisfied customers John and Nancy, can "buy in" as owners in the park cooperative, gaining a designated site and a role in the community's operations. This model is particularly appealing to retired individuals looking to stay active and engaged, ensuring the park remains beautifully maintained and socially vibrant through collective effort. Whether you're staying for a few nights or planning a home base, the SKP Park of the Sierras is a distinctively Californian RV experience.
The SKP Park of the Sierras is ideally situated at **45323 Park Sierra Dr, Coarsegold, CA 93614, USA**, placing it in a prime location in Madera County’s Sierra foothills. Coarsegold is an historic Gold Rush-era community, offering a blend of rural tranquility with convenient proximity to world-class attractions.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My wife and I have recently became full timers and we found Park of the Sequoias one day searching for places to stay with full hook ups on the internet. We have lived in Fresno for 40 + years and didn’t know this place existed. One day we took a drive and met Dave the camp manager and he was so welcoming. He explained who they were and took us on a tour of the many amenities they had to offer but then he told us that the park was a membership park through escapee’s and that we could also buy in as owners in the park. He encouraged us to stay a few times to get a feel for the park and the people before making a decision so we did. The people here a so friendly and the staff is incredibly helpful and nice. We stayed for 9 days and after meeting the people here we can’t wait to come back. Laundry room was very clean the clubhouse is huge with pool tables, gym, darts, a library, and a full kitchen for club cooking events. Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to enjoy the calendar events due to most of our time was getting things fixed in Fresno but we did enjoy our evening walks through the park and meeting people. We became members of Escapee’s and our next step is to stay a full month in October and become owners in the park. When you buy in, you get an assigned site with a storage unit on site, you volunteer your time as the park in maintained by the group of owners and your assigned to a community that meets your area of expertise. Very appealing for being retired to keep busy.Thank you all for such a great timeSincerelyJohn & Nancy
September 14 · John MortonWe enjoyed our visit so much! Every single person we met was kind and helpful. They have a beautiful clubhouse with many games and activities. The lit pickleball court made it easier to play in the cooler evenings after we were done with our daily travels. Large spots with very nice landscaping.
July 10 · Eric and Nichole JIt doesn't get any better! I'm a full-timer who has camped in every state. I love coming back here when in California. There are tons of events in the clubhouse and fantastic people.
August 30 · E EJoined Escapees RV Club when I bought Althea last August, $50 annually. SKP parks are member only, check if it will work for you, it does for me. Been saving my 1X $50 discount per year on a week stay. Got in this afternoon. Memorial Day weekend and I'm here for 7 nights, for $210 cash/check. Add 3% if using plastic. If you need to Big box store, Fresno 40 min. away. Coarsegold is 10 min. N, has limited retail, but Oakhurst has more shopping options. Haven't checked out showers yet (I don't shower in Althea, I use camp showers or $1 day basic Planet Fitness for showers. Plop down on exercise machine for a few minutes, then off to s**t, shower & Shave. Less than 1 hr to S entrance of Yosemite, even closer to Sierra Natnl Forest. Highly recommend SKP Park of the Sierras. They give you a site specific wifi router, it'll cost you $150 of you don't give it back. Ookla speed test showed 15MB down, 9MB up.
May 21 · John ElertThis little secret of the Sierras is a co-op RV community that is like nothing else I've ever seen. It's a terrific little stop over for an overnight RV. Stay on your way to Yosemite. Everyone is super friendly
