Silverton Lakes South RV Park & Cabins Introduce
Welcome to Silverton Lakes South RV Park & Cabins, your ideal and convenient home base nestled right in the historic downtown area of Silverton, Colorado. Situated at an elevation of over 9,300 feet amidst the spectacular San Juan Mountains, this park offers a slightly different experience than its sister location, providing guests with walkable access to Silverton’s historic main street while maintaining a peaceful atmosphere. It functions as a versatile lodging option, featuring dedicated RV camping sites, cabin rentals, and being officially categorized as a campground.
The park is highly regarded by travelers who prioritize a strategic location combined with necessary facilities. While some guests describe it as a "no frills" option, it excels in providing the essentials: a clean place to park, functional hookups, and a safe environment. Crucially, its central location is its defining feature, allowing guests to explore Silverton's charming historic district, museums, and local eateries entirely on foot—a rare luxury for an RV park in the remote Colorado mountains.
Silverton Lakes South RV Park & Cabins is designed to accommodate a wide range of vehicles, including large motorhomes and 5th wheels, with guests successfully managing to stay fully hooked up even with a 73-foot overall length (motorhome plus trailer). The park’s commitment to service is evident through the friendly and helpful staff in the office and their use of modern communication, such as providing excellent reminders and information via text messages to guests. This combination of location, service, and functionality makes it a reliable and preferred choice for many seasoned RVers visiting the heart of the Alpine Loop area.
The resort complex includes the historic Creekside Cabin, a 100-year-old gem that once served as the engine house for the Silverton Gladstone & Northerly Railroad, highlighting the property’s deep connection to the town's mining history. This mix of modern RV convenience and historic charm truly reflects the spirit of Silverton, making it more than just a place to park—it's a base for immersion in a unique Colorado mountain town.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Convenient location but tight spaces. No frills camping. Bath house wasn’t anything special. It had two private showers, but the shower was barely bigger than my tiny shower in my motorhome, so I never used it. People in office were friendly and helpful. It was a place to park our coach, but nothing special about it. They did offer a night of music and cornhole to get to know other campers, and they provided excellent reminders and information via text. It was close to town, which was nice.
August 15 · Sabrina CollinsExcellent, as usual, and we were able to leave our trailer hooked up to our motorhome with an overall length of about 73 feet. You will need plenty of power cord length as well as sewer hose length for this feat, though. At least in the site we were in.
September 01 · Brad and Shannon CallahanDuring our 7 week trip in the states, this has perhaps been our best stay!Veey clean restrooms and showers, very friendly and serviceminded staff, and a really great location. Close to town and good trail access for hiking and running really close by.I really hope to come back some day!
September 12 · Henrik Toudal OffersenThis is an absolutely perfect spot to stay in a cute town. They have an incredibly clean facility, great views, and even better owners and campers. There are multiple laundry mats, everything you need in the office/store, a safe campground, and lots of interesting people. The bathrooms, grounds, and public areas are spacious and clean. Don't waste your money anywhere else!
September 23 · Jessica ParkerFriendly service, super clean, and great location. It is by far the quietest park I have ever stayed at (we stayed at the in town location). I would stay here again and recommend them to others.
