Silver Lake RV & MH Estates Introduce
For many Indiana residents, the appeal of lakeside living combined with affordable housing options is a dream. Silver Lake RV & MH Estates in Angola, Indiana, presents a unique proposition, blending the convenience of a mobile home park with the recreational opportunities of an RV campground, all set against the backdrop of a beautiful lake. Whether you're seeking a permanent manufactured home site or a seasonal RV spot, this community aims to offer a comfortable and engaging environment in Steuben County.
Mobile home parks and RV estates offer a distinct lifestyle that can be particularly attractive for those looking to enjoy Indiana’s natural beauty without the high cost of traditional waterfront property. These communities often provide a relaxed atmosphere, a sense of belonging, and amenities designed to enhance outdoor enjoyment. For Indiana locals, understanding the dual nature of Silver Lake RV & MH Estates—catering to both long-term residents and seasonal campers—is key to determining if it’s the right fit for their housing or recreational needs.
Reviews for Silver Lake RV & MH Estates offer a valuable, albeit mixed, perspective on the community. A very positive recent review highlighted a great camping experience: "We’ve camped here 2 seasons now and have enjoyed our time very much! Campground is kept up nice, we felt safe along with knowing our stuff was safe. Owners were very easy to work with and talk to. They put on multiple fun, family oriented event events throughout the season. Our spot was right on the water. If we’re ever in the area again for work, we will absolutely be staying here. My husband will willingly drive farther than normal if we are able to stay at this campground!" This feedback suggests that the current ownership is providing a positive experience for campers, with well-maintained grounds, a sense of safety, good communication, and engaging family events, especially for lakeside spots.
However, a more historical review provides a stark contrast and cautionary perspective regarding the long-term mobile home park aspect: "You all should have seen Silver Lake Park back in the '60's when we had a cottage (mobile home) permanently parked there. It was a beautiful place - All trailers had skirting, all lawns were cut, the entire park was immaculate. I worked for the owners back then as a Summer job in '67 and '68, cutting grass and picking up EVERY scrap of paper. It was never fancy, but always clean and safe. The beach was nice and clean, and the owners had a raft with a diving board in the deeper water off the beach. The roads were always in good shape, and if a pothole developed, the owners repaired it immediately before it swallowed vehicles. There were basically 3 sections in the park. One area had full-time residents, one area had Summer and weekend residents, and one area was reserved for weekend campers. There were NO trailers or campers of any kind allowed down by the beach. This was a perfect place for all ages... I've driven through the park a few times in the last 10 years, and cannot believe the condition it has fallen in to. There seems to be evidence of an attempt to clean it up, based on a quick drive-by a few days ago, but it will never be how it used to be. I'm including a mid-'60's aerial postcard of the park... ALL mobile homes had to be skirted - no exceptions... There have been several owners since about 1972, all promising to clean the place up. Let's hope this time they mean it."
This historical review indicates a significant decline in the mobile home park's condition over several decades, though it notes a recent "attempt to clean it up." This suggests that while the RV camping experience may currently be very positive, potential long-term mobile home residents should thoroughly investigate the current state of the park, particularly the mobile home sections, to ensure it meets their standards for maintenance and aesthetics. It highlights the importance of visiting the property in person and asking direct questions about current maintenance efforts for the entire park.

This was a perfect place for all ages. I was a kid at the time doing lots of frog and turtle hunting and fishing. There were also many retired couples there year-round. I've driven through the park a few times in the last 10 years, and cannot believe the condition it has fallen in to. There seems to be evidence of an attempt to clean it up, based on a quick drive-by a few days ago, but it will never be how it used to be. I'm including a mid-'60's aerial postcard of the park. One more thing that I forgot to mention: ALL mobile homes had to be skirted - no exceptions. I added another shot, showing the beach area with it's yellow diving board raft. Note there are no trailers or campers or vehicles in the beach area. All the docks were towards the left in the photo. There have been several owners since about 1972, all promising to clean the place up. Let's hope this time they mean it.
Aug 08, 2021 · Tom BenderLast year I camped here. Now I live here & still camp here in the camping months. It's the best of both worlds ❤️ I watch deer & other wild life all year right out my window.
Jan 16, 2025 · Lisa BrownI ALSO spent Summers and weekends up on the hill and have a lot of fond memories. Tom Bender and his brother Gary were good friends of mine then.I also saved a man from drowning there once.
Jun 29, 2024 · RicNice view of the lake, lots of big shade trees, nice wide lanes but there's trash everywhere and the water smells bad of sulfer
