Shady Oaks Lakeview RV Park Introduce
For those of us living in Oklahoma, or looking for a place to stay while traveling through our state, finding an RV park that meets expectations for comfort, convenience, and a welcoming atmosphere is crucial. In Duncan, Oklahoma, Shady Oaks Lakeview RV Park is a location that may appear as an option for your mobile home or RV. When considering any accommodation, it's always wise to gather as much factual information as possible to make an informed decision.
This article aims to provide a clear and factual overview of Shady Oaks Lakeview RV Park, based on publicly available data and recent customer feedback. While the name suggests a pleasant, lakeview setting, it is important for prospective visitors to be aware of all aspects of the park's current status and reputation. Our goal is to present a comprehensive picture to help you, as a local Oklahoman or visitor, decide if this park aligns with your needs and expectations for a comfortable and stress-free stay in the Duncan area.
Shady Oaks Lakeview RV Park is situated at 10 Shady Oaks Ln, Duncan, OK 73533, USA. This address places it within the city of Duncan, a prominent community in Southwest Oklahoma. Duncan is a hub for trade and industry in its region and is known for its oil and gas history, as well as being the county seat of Stephens County.
The park's location on Shady Oaks Lane suggests a position that might offer some degree of natural surroundings or a quiet residential feel, potentially near a lake or water body, as indicated by "Lakeview" in its name. For accessibility, Duncan is well-connected by major highways, including U.S. Route 81 and State Highway 7. This makes it relatively easy to reach the park from other parts of Oklahoma, such as Oklahoma City to the north or Lawton to the west, as well as from northern Texas. The park's proximity to a city like Duncan means that essential services like grocery stores, fuel stations, restaurants, and various local businesses are generally within a convenient driving distance. However, it is crucial to note the recent customer feedback regarding access, specifically that the "gate is shut with private property-no trespassing signs all over" despite "signs still up on the highway." This conflicting information about accessibility is a significant consideration for anyone planning a visit, and prospective guests should verify current access before traveling to the location.
Based on its classification as an "RV Park" and "Mobile Home Park," one would typically expect a range of basic and essential services. However, the very recent customer reviews introduce significant caveats regarding the practical availability of these services due to access issues and management behavior. While standard expectations for such a park include:
- RV Sites with Hookups: Traditionally, an RV park offers individual sites equipped with essential hookups such as electrical connections (likely 30-amp and/or 50-amp), water, and sewer connections for self-contained RVs.
- Mobile Home Lots: As a mobile home park, it would typically offer lots for manufactured homes, which would also include utility hookups.
- Access to Common Utilities: This would imply functioning water lines, electrical grids, and a waste disposal system for all sites.
However, the explicit customer complaints about "private property - no trespassing signs" and issues with "water has even the slightest drip" or "water had been frozen up for a week" directly challenge the reliable provision of these fundamental services. The feedback suggests that even if hookups are physically present, their usability or the terms of their use may be problematic. It is paramount for potential visitors to understand that the reliability and accessibility of any services cannot be guaranteed based on the provided customer experiences.
When considering the features and highlights of Shady Oaks Lakeview RV Park, it's essential to balance the potential geographic advantages implied by its name with the very critical recent customer experiences. Typically, an RV park with "Lakeview" in its name would suggest:
- Potential Scenic Views: The name "Lakeview" would imply the possibility of scenic views of a nearby lake or water body, which could be a significant draw for nature lovers and those seeking a picturesque setting.
- Quiet or Secluded Setting: "Shady Oaks" might suggest a park with mature trees offering shade and a potentially more secluded or natural environment.
- Proximity to Duncan: Its location within Duncan would typically be a highlight for convenience, providing easy access to city amenities, shopping, dining, and local attractions.
However, the most prominent "features" highlighted by recent customer reviews are negative and directly impact the park's appeal:
- Accessibility Issues: The review explicitly states, "gate is shut with private property-no trespassing signs all over." This is a critical highlight, indicating potential inability to access the property despite highway signs. This directly contradicts the basic premise of an accessible RV park.
- Negative Management Interactions: Customer feedback strongly highlights extremely negative experiences with park management, describing the "old man that runs this place" as "hateful," someone who "jumps to conclusions," and will "jump down your throat." Specific incidents regarding water drips and frozen pipes are cited as examples of this problematic interaction.
- Unwelcoming Atmosphere: The sentiment "if u have any self respect you will not stay there" conveys an intensely unwelcoming and disrespectful environment created by the management. This is a severe detractor from any potential positive features.
Given this feedback, the primary "highlights" of this park, from a factual standpoint based on customer experience, are significant red flags regarding accessibility and management behavior, rather than positive amenities or natural features.

For us Oklahomans seeking an RV park in the Duncan area, it is imperative to approach Shady Oaks Lakeview RV Park with extreme caution, based on the direct experiences of recent visitors. While the idea of a "Lakeview" park with "Shady Oaks" sounds appealing, the provided customer reviews indicate significant and concerning issues that directly impact its suitability.
The primary reason this place might be "suitable" for locals is the ability to potentially verify its current status and avoid a wasted trip, given its proximity. Local residents might be in a better position to drive by and visually confirm if the "private property - no trespassing" signs and closed gate are still in effect before committing to a stay. If the park is indeed inaccessible or if management interactions are as described, it is unequivocally unsuitable for a pleasant or reliable RV stay for anyone, local or otherwise.
In conclusion, based on the critical and severe issues raised in recent customer feedback regarding accessibility and management conduct, Shady Oaks Lakeview RV Park, as it currently appears, is not recommended for locals or any travelers seeking a functional, welcoming, or problem-free RV camping experience in Oklahoma. Locals should prioritize their time and resources by exploring other, more reliably reviewed RV parks in the Duncan and broader Oklahoma region.

Jan 22, 2025 · Jason UnruhDo not stay here! The old man that runs this place is not only one of the most hateful people I have ever met, he jumps to conclusions, and will jump down your throat if your water has even the slightest drip... then jumped down my throat for leaving water dripping inside during freezing nights... I HAD NOT EVEN BEEN DOING THAT, MY WATER HAD BEEN FROZEN UP FOR A WEEK I WAS USING BOTTLED WATER! These people are just jerks and if u have any self respect you will not stay there.
