📍 **Location and Accessibility**
Roamer Sites boasts an enviable location at **59550 US-26, Sandy, OR 97055, USA**, strategically positioning it as the gateway to the renowned recreational opportunities of the Mt. Hood National Forest. Situated right off the main US-26 highway, the site offers excellent accessibility for travelers arriving in all sizes of adventure rigs, vans, and RVs. The proximity to the highway makes arrivals and departures straightforward, especially for those continuing their journey along the scenic route.
The park is nestled into a forested area that helps provide a sense of natural tranquility, even with the presence of other guests. This location is particularly appealing due to its close proximity to one of Oregon's most popular mountain biking destinations: the **Sandy Ridge trail system**. This world-class network of trails is just a mile away, a huge benefit for mountain bike enthusiasts. Furthermore, while the park is situated on the campus of a major action sports school (Wy'East Mountain Academy), the camping area is typically set apart in a secure, gated area, offering peace of mind for campers and their gear.
Crucially, the facility is committed to inclusivity and accessibility, offering **wheelchair accessible parking lots**, ensuring that a wider range of visitors can comfortably enjoy the amenities and the surrounding natural environment.

⭐ **What is Worth Choosing Roamer Sites**
Choosing Roamer Sites for your Oregon getaway is a decision to prioritize adventure, community, and convenience. While every camping experience has its quirks—guests have noted the very close, communal layout of the tent area and occasional highway noise—the advantages of this location far outweigh the minor challenges, especially for those who embrace the active lifestyle.
The primary reason to choose Roamer Sites is its **unmatched connection to action sports**. Being able to spend your morning mountain biking on the Sandy Ridge trails and your evening enjoying one of the best indoor skateparks in the Northwest is a truly unique proposition, particularly at the reasonable rates often offered. It’s an ideal choice for the skater, snowboarder, or mountain biker who wants their base camp to be part of the adventure. The feeling of having the world-class B.O.B. skatepark to yourself during private hours is described by guests as an "unbelievable" and "magical experience."
Furthermore, the **fantastic amenities**, such as reliable, fast Wi-Fi, heated bathrooms/showers, and the cozy features of the glamping tents (like the heated mattress pads for cold nights), ensure your stay is comfortable despite the rugged setting near the base of Mt. Hood. The presence of friendly, helpful staff, like the host Jim, also contributes to a welcoming environment where guests feel cared for and valued. If you are looking for a standard, quiet, secluded campground, this might not be the right fit. But if your perfect vacation involves secure parking, communal campfires, hot showers, and direct access to an action sports mecca in the beautiful foothills of Oregon's most iconic mountain, then **Roamer Sites** is undoubtedly the destination for you.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We recently stayed at this camp and want to share an honest, balanced review. The camp is well thought out and visually beautiful, nestled in a forest next to a really impressive action sports school for kids. Having access to the school’s amenities like the skatepark, gym, and bike trails when not in use was a unique and fun bonus. Jim, the host, was friendly, helpful, and clearly cares about the space. The canvas tents are set up in a large communal circle. While the tents themselves felt private, you are very close to your neighbors, and it’s a full communal experience. We appreciated the heaters and heated mattress pads, which made the cold nights more comfortable. However, a few things didn’t meet our expectations. The tents, while clean inside, had visible mold/mildew on the canvas walls—understandable in a damp forest for $55/night, but still off-putting. The beds were also quite hard. Quiet hours start at 10PM, but noise carried easily and other guests stayed up talking around the fire until 2AM, which made sleeping difficult. Highway noise was also present. The biggest challenge for us was dog management. We chose this place because of the leash rules, as our senior dog needs space. Unfortunately, several dogs were off-leash or poorly managed, including one from a neighboring tent whose long tie-out let them reach our tent, and other dogs completely off leash and uncontrolled by owners who approached our leashed dog. This made our stay more stressful than we hoped. There are only two single-use bathrooms for the whole camp. They weren’t as clean as we would’ve liked, and one was out of paper towels for a full day, with others’ personal items left behind in both.Overall, it met our basic needs. The gated access made us feel comfortable leaving bikes unattended, and the proximity to the Sandy Ridge trail system was a plus. But the close communal setup and lack of rule enforcement made it clear this style of camping isn’t the right fit for us.
May 09 · Rachel HollowayAbsolutely the best weekend getaway I’ve ever had was here. My partner and I skate, so we decided to rent a tent for two days in the roamer sites and skate the B.O. B. The rates are BEYOND reasonable, it’s winter but the tent stayed warm, dry and cozy even when it was below freezing outside at night, and the heated bathroom/showering rooms were PERFECT. It was too wet to skate the concrete jungle, so you better believe we will be coming back on a dry weekend because it looks incredible. The B. O. B. was an absolute gem, hands down the best indoor skatepark anywhere in the NW, to have it to ourselves was unbelievable. I am so stoked to have found this place, thank you Jim for a magical experience!!
March 12 · Patricia “Trish” LockhartWhat a fantastic place for camping. It is seriously the best spot ever. Glamping in the rain? Great prices, heated everything including bathrooms and showers. Firewood that’s dry and freely available, Yeap, coolest people ever for check in? Yeap!! It’s simply the best place for easy camping
June 27 · Mikhail RosenbergMy husband and I loved our weekend getaway here!! Unique campground located in a cute little mountain town. We enjoyed well maintained sites, reliable electric for our van, clean bathrooms, and hot showers!!! During designated hours we even had access to the skatepark, mountain bike trails, and fitness center which was awesome. Looking forward to coming back in the future!
September 21 · Lena PetersOutstanding campground to stay near the base of mount hood. Great gravel spots to park your Van/truck camper/rv. Reliable electric hook ups, bathrooms and showers are cleaned daily, great cell service, campground also has guest Wi-Fi.There are awesome trails to hike/mountain bike right in the back of the campground. Very dog friendly, my pup Louie loved the hikes and open grass field to play fetch in!Fitness center has everything you need to get a good workout in.Jim was an awesome host, very helpful and always friendly! His trusty side kick Goldie was definitely a bonus.I will definitely stay here again when I’m in the area!
