Riverboat Travel Park is conveniently located at 6232 Chef Menteur Hwy, New Orleans, LA 70126, USA. This address places it directly off a major thoroughfare, making it relatively easy to access for RVs of various sizes. While the park is situated right off the highway, guests should be aware that a U-turn may be necessary to reach the entrance, a common maneuver in urban areas. This location offers a balance between accessibility to New Orleans' famed attractions and being slightly removed from the immediate hustle and bustle of the city center. For those planning to dive into the heart of New Orleans, the park's position on Chef Menteur Highway provides a direct route into the city's popular districts. It's a strategic spot for local Louisianans coming from areas like Baton Rouge, Lafayette, or even the Northshore, looking for a convenient gateway to their New Orleans adventures. The ease of access helps minimize the stress often associated with navigating a large RV in an unfamiliar urban landscape.
Riverboat Travel Park offers a variety of services designed to enhance the comfort and convenience of its guests, catering to both short-term visitors and those seeking a longer stay. These services aim to address the fundamental needs of RV travelers, ensuring a more enjoyable experience.
- Fully Stocked Store: A significant convenience for any RVer, the park features a fully stocked store on-site. This store provides a range of basic needs, from common groceries and snacks to essential hardware items. This eliminates the need for frequent trips to external stores, allowing guests to quickly pick up forgotten items or replenish supplies without leaving the park premises.
- Pet-Friendly Environment: For those traveling with their furry companions, Riverboat Travel Park welcomes pets. While the park primarily features concrete and gravel, it’s important for pet owners to know that their animals are welcome to join them, though dedicated grassy areas for pets may be limited.
- Long-Term Stay Options: For guests planning an extended visit to New Orleans, Riverboat Travel Park offers monthly rates. Some long-term residents have reported a monthly rate around $750, providing a potentially economical option for those looking to stay in the area for a month or more. This flexibility is a key benefit for individuals or families needing a longer-term base.
Beyond its core services, Riverboat Travel Park also boasts several features and highlights that contribute to its appeal for RV travelers, particularly those prioritizing security and convenience.
- Enhanced Security Measures: One of the most frequently highlighted features is the park's commitment to security. Guests consistently mention feeling "safe and secure because of the front gate and tall barbed wire fences that keep your equipment locked away." This gated entry and robust fencing provide a significant deterrent, offering peace of mind to guests concerned about the safety of their RVs and belongings, a crucial consideration when staying in an urban environment.
- Knowledgeable and Welcoming Hosts: Several positive reviews emphasize the quality of interaction with the park hosts. Guests describe them as "beautiful people that gave solid advice for our tour of the Big Easy." This personalized guidance and friendly demeanor can greatly enhance a visitor's experience, providing valuable local insights and a welcoming atmosphere.
- Proximity to New Orleans Attractions: While not in the immediate heart of the French Quarter, the park's location offers relatively easy access to New Orleans' iconic sites. Guests can conveniently commute to areas like Bourbon Street, the Garden District, or the historic parts of the city for sightseeing, dining, and entertainment, allowing for a full New Orleans experience without being directly amidst the intense city bustle.
- Convenience for Essential Needs: The on-site store, offering both basic necessities and common hardware, stands out as a practical highlight. This feature minimizes the need for external errands, allowing guests to spend more time enjoying their vacation or focusing on their long-term stay.

Riverboat Travel Park Reviews
This is a great place to stay for New Orleans exploring. The site is right off the highway but you will need to take a U-turn to get to the front. We felt safe and secure because of the front gate and tall barbed wire fences that keep your equipment locked away. They have a fully stocked store for all your basic needs including common hardware. The hosts are beautiful people that gave solid advice for our tour of the Big Easy. We stayed only three nights and would have stayed longer if not for other planned travel. Three nights isn't really enough time to really experience New Orleans. We talked to a few people that were staying there for a longer term and they mentioned their monthly rate was $750. We definitely recommend this place to stay and when we return someday, we will stay here again! Pets are welcome, however, concrete and gravel stones everywhere with no grass. Thank you for giving us a great experience!
Oct 11, 2024 · Jason LDO NOT STAY HERE. Worst experience ever. Very dangerous neighborhood, no grass for pets, razor wire at the top of the fence on one side. Was like being in prison. Wish we could give negative stars. Spend the money and stay in the French Quarter or at the Jean LaFitte National Park. Our vacation was ruined staying here.
May 23, 2025 · Sara EvansAmazing staff/owner! Our Vehicle needed a jump on the first night after closing and they still came out and assisted us. Ray is such a funny gentleman. He is kind and very knowledgeable about the local area. Bathrooms are clean. Area is secure. Highly recommended this very affordable location.
Apr 04, 2023 · Colleen GrealishA lovely little rv park for short term stays in the heart of New Orleans. Owners were extremely friendly and helpful with directions as well as other questions we had. Highly recommend for a low amenity stay.
Jun 04, 2024 · Holly MachidaAs a self-contained unit, this was perfect. The surrounding area is rough, but you are in New Orleans,15 minutes to everything. The RV park is fenced and we felt safe the entire time. You have more than enough space, the hookups are good and the price is right. The owners are friendly, helpful and have a grocery store up front that was super convenient. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
