Possum Creek RV Park in Soddy-Daisy, TN, presents itself as a unique option, particularly suited for those seeking a more permanent or seasonal camping experience with close proximity to the water. This overview aims to provide a comprehensive and factual look at what Possum Creek RV Park offers, drawing insights from available public data and reviews, to help local users in Tennessee determine if it's the right fit for their RV adventures.
Possum Creek RV Park operates with a distinct character, reportedly catering more to seasonal or long-term residents rather than short-term overnight visitors. This focus can cultivate a more stable and community-oriented atmosphere, allowing residents to truly settle in and enjoy the natural surroundings over an extended period. Situated near Chickamauga Lake, it offers a setting that appeals to those who enjoy water-based activities like fishing and boating.
While some reviews highlight its rustic nature and certain challenges, such as site leveling and lack of full hookups, they also acknowledge the "beautiful property." It's important for prospective visitors to understand that this park might differ from more modern, amenity-rich RV resorts. Instead, it seems to offer a more traditional, laid-back RV living experience for those who prioritize a long-term connection to a specific location and its natural charm. This article will delve into its location, specific services, features, and why it might be an ideal choice for certain segments of the local Tennessee RV community.
Possum Creek RV Park is located at 1845 Lee Pike, Soddy-Daisy, TN 37379, USA. Soddy-Daisy is a city in Hamilton County, Tennessee, situated just north of Chattanooga. This location places the RV park in a prime spot for enjoying the natural beauty of the region, particularly its access to Chickamauga Lake and the surrounding outdoor recreation opportunities.
Lee Pike is a local road that leads into a more rural and natural area, suggesting that the park offers a peaceful setting away from the immediate hustle and bustle of urban centers. Its proximity to Chickamauga Lake means that water activities are a significant draw for residents. The park is also known in some contexts as Possum Creek Off-Road Park, which implies that it may share grounds or be directly affiliated with an off-road vehicle recreational area. This could mean access to trails and activities for off-road enthusiasts.
Accessibility to Soddy-Daisy and the broader Chattanooga area is relatively straightforward via major highways, making it reachable for RVers from across Tennessee. While the internal roads within the park might be "very steep, rough and difficult" as one review suggests, the overall regional access is convenient. This balance between a secluded natural setting and reasonable proximity to urban amenities makes it an appealing spot for extended stays.
- Seasonal/Permanent Sites: Based on customer reviews, Possum Creek RV Park primarily caters to seasonal or permanent residents, meaning that many sites are occupied by long-term setups. This suggests a focus on creating a stable community rather than a transient overnight stop.
- Electric Hookups: The park reportedly offers electric hookups (30/20/15 Amp), which is a fundamental service for RVs, allowing for power to the rig.
- Water Access: While individual sewer hookups may not be available at every site, water access is typically provided at each site or via communal spigots, essential for RV operations.
- Dump Station: A dump station is available for black and gray water disposal. However, one review indicates that navigating a large rig to this station might be challenging due to terrain. It's crucial for campers to utilize designated dump stations, as Tennessee state law prohibits the ground disposal of any drain water (gray or black).
- Restrooms/Showers: The park provides restrooms and showers. However, it's noted that these facilities might not be well-lit (no light in the restroom/shower area) and could be closed seasonally (closed all winter), suggesting a more rustic experience for some amenities.
- Pet-Friendly Environment: The Possum Creek Off-Road Park, which may be affiliated or share space, explicitly states they allow pets, suggesting a pet-friendly policy for the RV park as well.
- Limited Amenities: It's important to note that, according to reviews, the park does not offer laundry facilities. This highlights its more rustic and less amenity-rich nature compared to full-service RV resorts.
- Beautiful Property and Natural Setting: Despite some functional challenges, visitors consistently describe the property as "beautiful" and appreciate its natural surroundings, offering a serene environment for relaxation. Its proximity to Chickamauga Lake is a significant draw.
- Focus on Long-Term/Seasonal Stays: The park's primary focus on seasonal and permanent residents fosters a more established community feel, which can be a highlight for those seeking a stable and familiar environment for their RV living.
- Access to Chickamauga Lake: For water enthusiasts, the park's location near Chickamauga Lake is a major advantage, providing opportunities for boating, fishing, and enjoying the vast waterway.
- Primitive Camping Options (Implied): While focusing on RVs, mentions of "primitive camping" in associated search results for Possum Creek Off-Road Park suggest a broader outdoor offering for those who prefer tent camping, potentially within the same larger property.
- Off-Road Park Affiliation: For those interested in off-road activities, the connection to Possum Creek Off-Road Park offers unique recreational opportunities directly accessible or very close by. This might include dedicated trails for ATVs, dirt bikes, or 4x4 vehicles.
- Challenging Terrain for Rig Placement: While a challenge for some, the "unlevel" and "steep, rough and difficult" sites and roads can be a feature for experienced RVers who enjoy maneuvering their rigs in a more rugged, natural setting. This might appeal to those seeking a less manicured camping experience.

Its suitability for locals lies in its specialized offerings that cater to a specific segment of the RV community.

Possum Creek RV Park Reviews
Beautiful place, I didn't stay here was visiting friends. I love it.
Jun 10, 2025 · Tammy PierreThis is not a place for an overnighter. Basically these are seasonal permanent residents who have already chosen the few ideal sites. None of them are level. Many are a tremendous challenge to get your rig situated. I ruined a jack on my 24' TT after trying 4 different sites. Several of them face the wrong way so you're entry is facing the hillside instead of the lake. None of them have sewer. There is a dump station, but good luck getting your rig to it. There is no light in the restroom/shower area, which is apparently closed all winter anyway. There is no laundry facility. The roads are very steep, rough and difficult. It is common practice to just allow the gray water tanks to drain at your site. This would be somewhat acceptable if they were concrete pads and a hose was used to direct the drainage to a grass filter area, however since it drains right on the crushed granite, the place is crawling with ants so you will be fighting that all over the inside of your RV. It's a beautiful property but it's 50 years past being updated.
Oct 05, 2021 · Michael ScottWe had a great time here. Our lot was spacious and we was right by the water. We was here 6 weeks doing a nuclear outage for TVA and have zero complaints. If you stay here get a honey wagon to do your sewer. It is just easier than moving your camper every single time.
Nov 10, 2024 · FunTimesBeautiful, quiet, family oriented. We had water and electric hookupsUnfortunately, there was no sewer hookup, but they had a dump tank in a close central location. Plus, someone would come by and empty our black tank for a little money. It was worth every penny. We had a great experience.
Mar 15, 2023 · lewella manningWorse place ever. When we first went there not so great, but mgr said they were cleaning it up. Nasty and the resident area well check it out for yourself. However, it is open to the public to use the beach area any time and even just driving through. Remember if things are bad to contact TVA because they can't fix what they don't know.
