Plantation RV Park

1 Frederick St, Natchez, MS 39120, USA

3.0
Polite courteous staff making the most of what they have. However..... this facility proves you get what you pay for. The address does not agree with your GPS therefore it is difficult to find the place. The campground is located next to a busy highway and is part of or adjoins a trailer park full of old scary and abandoned trailers. This is the first site that I have camped at that I would be hesitant to allow my family to walk through at night. Management allows loud barking dogs. The site next to ours had a large barking dog that barked at everything that moved from sunup until after dark. Dog was on a long leash that came to within 7 feet of my truck door when I got out at night. Very unnerving. Only had one pull through site and the rest required backing up over a curb to park your rig in the site. Not very big rig friendly. The closest store had bars on the windows. Would not recommend this facility for any less that a dire emergency. - Craig Burgess

Frederick Street is situated near a busy highway, which, while offering easy access, also means proximity to road noise. The park's closeness to downtown Natchez means that essentials like food, fun, and tours are just minutes away, providing a practical base for sightseeing.

Conclusion: Why Plantation RV Park is Suitable for Locals

For Mississippians planning an RV trip to historic Natchez, Plantation RV Park offers a unique set of considerations. Its primary advantage is its undeniable proximity to downtown Natchez. For those whose main goal is to immerse themselves in the city's antebellum history, explore its charming streets, visit museums, and enjoy local dining and entertainment without significant travel time from their campsite, Plantation RV Park serves as a highly practical base. This convenience can be a significant factor for local travelers who value time and ease of access to attractions.

However, it's crucial for locals to approach Plantation RV Park with realistic expectations, informed by the experiences of previous guests. While the "polite courteous staff" and "making the most of what they have" indicate a certain level of dedication from management, issues such as GPS discrepancies, proximity to a busy highway, and concerns about adjoining areas with older trailers and barking dogs are important to consider. The feedback regarding utility functionality (laundry, Wi-Fi, showers) and site accessibility (tight roads, backing over curbs) suggests that while essential services are present, they may not always meet the highest standards of convenience or maintenance.

For a local Mississippian, especially those with smaller rigs or who prioritize location and affordability above extensive amenities or pristine conditions, Plantation RV Park could serve as a viable option for a short-term visit or in a pinch. It might be particularly suitable for those who are highly self-sufficient in their RVs and primarily need a place with hookups while spending most of their time exploring Natchez. The "reasonable daily rate" (as per some older reports) and the acceptance of discounts could also be appealing for budget-conscious travelers. Ultimately, for the local RVer, Plantation RV Park represents a functional choice for accessing Natchez, provided expectations are aligned with its current realities and the unique characteristics described by its visitors.
