Pearl Lake RV Campground by Rjourney Reviews
This used to be an affordable, fun family camp ground but since new ownership took over (R Journey) it has gone way down hill. Every month there are issues with billing being incorrect. There have been several new “fees” added on without any communication from the company. They are now threatening putting everyone on auto pay due to late payments but the bill is never correct to pay it. Last summer I stopped in the office several times to pay and kept getting told my bill was incorrect and they were “working on it”. During the winter months they started charging a $22/month fee after we were told the fee would only be charged during the open season. They communicated that they would be reading electric once a month. In the month of April they read my electric 2 days in a row. They charged me $5 each time and said that I used almost $9 of electricity in 1 day when we weren’t even there or running anything. Several others used less than $2 of electricity and got charged $27 in fees!Weekend site rentals used to be affordable as well but now they cost so much that families that have been camping here for 20 years are no longer coming. The price went way up with no improvements of the campground. The bathrooms don’t even have working faucets.

Jun 21, 2025 · Donald RaffertyI hate writing negative reviews. When we are on vacation, we love to give glowing reviews to those places that helped to make our time great. Unfortunately, I can’t do that with this campground. The website for RJourney campgrounds is really excellent – taking a country wide ‘brand and making it sound fantastic. I was drawn in as well – and booked a night in Redgranite, WI. Within an hour, I realized that the website spent more time on Exaggerations, and less time on truth. We pulled up to a building, not very well marked, and expected to check in. Check in time is 3; we arrived early (we never do) at 2:30. We would have gladly waited – if we were greeted by anyone. The office was closed – and locked – and the sign on the door indicated that it closed at 2, and would re-open at 9 the next day. HOW can someone check in at 3, if the office closes at 2? That was Question #1.On the door, there was a hangtag that said “Oaks 17”, a list of rules, and events for this coming weekend. Our name was nowhere at all. If I did not keep such detailed notes, I would not have any idea that Oaks 17 was for us. There was no map detailing the location – and the entire place looked empty. We drove around – and got lost. By the time we returned to the building, a woman was there. She was the ONLY part of this experience that rates anything positive. She described where our site was, and gave us a map that was blurry and hard to read. But, nonetheless, it was a map.I made this reservation for one night weeks ago. The site we were given was the LAST site in the entire park. There was no cell service, no wifi – nothing at all. We were a half mile from the “office” – we have family back east, and being completely without communication is unacceptable. We drove back to the office and I went in to speak to the campground staff. I politely asked if she had anything closer to the office, where we could get cell service at least. She was more than happy to put us in the FIRST spot in the park. There were over 120 empty sites – no one was anywhere in the front of the campground. WHY were we given the last spot? I have no understanding of that at all.The campground boasts of a “sand bottom swimming pond”. It was literally a murky hole in the ground. I never would have gone in to something that dirty. The water was stagnant and dirty. My husband went to the “ball field” for some exercise. The field was just another disappointment, with little to no grass, but plenty of dirt. It should be noted that an employee allowed her dog to use the field as its bathroom – and never cleaned up afterwards. The sites were completely uneven – even with levelers we were completely tilted forward for the duration of our stay. The sites are dirt sites without grass or stones, making both the outside and inside of our rig dirty. The water and electrical connections did work well – but, as expected, wifi is non existent. The website said we could pay for more than 1 free hour of wifi, but the staff was not forthcoming with how to do so.We got up early after our 1 night and headed to the dump station and garbage dumpsters, and left quickly. Pearl Lake was not inviting, not as advertised, and quite sketchy, to be honest. It seems like there is a section of the park for permanent campers that was pretty nice. But for anyone traveling through – skip this place. Let the buyer beware – I was very disappointed with this stay.
Jun 13, 2025 · Marla ZirinSince corporate took over this campground, it’s gone downhill. Undisclosed fees that show up with no explanation on your bills. Errors on bills. Corporate doesn’t communicate well with the people running the campground, which is frustrating for them and everyone involved. I used to love this campground, it was affordable! Not anymore. If you’re looking for a permanent campground, look elsewhere.
May 05, 2025 · Kristi ThomeAbsolutely loved it, very large campground. Everyone was so friendly. Pool/pond beech area is excellent. Allot for kids to do, also allot for adults. We will definitely camp here again
