Moondance RV and Campground Introduce
For Coloradans and visitors exploring the stunning landscapes of the Western Slope, a reliable and well-located basecamp is essential. Moondance RV and Campground in Grand Junction offers a straightforward and accessible option for both recreational vehicle travelers and tent campers. Operating as a combined RV park and traditional campground, Moondance aims to serve as a convenient and simple staging point for adventures across Mesa County and the wider Grand Valley.
Grand Junction is renowned for its breathtaking proximity to some of Colorado's most spectacular outdoor destinations, including the majestic Colorado National Monument, the vast Grand Mesa National Forest, and the popular mountain biking trails near Fruita. Moondance RV and Campground positions itself as a practical lodging solution for guests looking to maximize their time exploring these natural wonders while keeping the logistics of camping and RV travel simple.
The park is open year-round, accommodating different travel schedules and offering a consistent place to stay regardless of the season. It provides a range of services, from full hookup sites designed for big rigs to a dedicated area for traditional tent camping. The setting is described as a quiet location with picturesque views of the surrounding natural landmarks, including the Bookcliffs, which frame the Grand Junction skyline.
While the general atmosphere is focused on simple, clean, and affordable camping, travelers should be aware of varying site conditions and understand that it functions as a functional park for overnight and extended stays rather than a resort complex. For those who prioritize utility and location above luxury amenities, Moondance provides the fundamental necessities for a comfortable stay in this beautiful part of Colorado.
Moondance RV and Campground boasts a practical location that balances quick access to major roads with proximity to local attractions. Situated just north of Interstate 70 in Grand Junction, the park provides easy access for travelers arriving from or departing to other parts of Colorado and the Western United States. The official address is:
774 23 Rd, Grand Junction, CO 81505, USA
The campground is conveniently located between exits 26 and 28 of I-70, making it an excellent stopover point for those on a longer road trip or a hassle-free hub for local excursions. The elevation is approximately 4,200 feet above sea level, placing it in the desert valley floor region that characterizes the Grand Junction area.
The immediate surrounding area offers quick access to essential services. Within a five to fifteen-minute drive, guests can reach a variety of restaurants, shopping centers (including outlet and mall options), and a movie theater. For outdoor enthusiasts, the Redlands Parkway Boat Ramp and the Colorado River are only a short drive away, providing opportunities for water-based activities like fishing and boating. Major landmarks are also within easy reach:
- Colorado National Monument is approximately 30 minutes away.
- State Parks like Highline Lake and James M. Robb are also a short drive.
- Mountain biking trailheads can be reached in about 15 minutes.
In terms of general accessibility within the park, on-site parking is available for guests. For those concerned about connectivity, reliable cell reception is generally available in the area, and the RV sites typically include Wi-Fi access.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- Place is Beyond Messy. The Landlady Obviously would Rather Run Her Mouth About Clean Lots than People With Junk All Around their Campers. Do yourself a Favor and Stay Away From This Place it’s Disgusting and The Landlady is Disrespectful. Kind of Sad to See How She Treats People August 13 · Mike
- Owner and host were nice enough. However, the two tent sites are less than desirable with scrap campers surrounding the tent sites and uneven ground with astro turf. It could do in a pinch but didn't seem safe. Refund was given promptly and without any issues. June 17 · C P
- This place was a massive disappointment. If you have an RV this place would be fine but we were tenting and their tent sites are at the very back of the property by a scrapyard and also a bunch of abandoned campers that were spooky. Right beside the tent sites was the sewer and the lids didn't seal it off so we had an odorous breeze all evening. It is located right close to the highway and the traffic noise kept us from sleeping most of the night. It was by far the worst camping experience I ever had. They did have bathrooms and showers that were decently clean and nice but that's the only positive thing that was there. The picture I added is the view from our campsite September 26 · Mali Villeneuve
