For many RV enthusiasts across Texas, finding a suitable park involves more than just a place to hook up; it's about finding a community, a sense of security, and reliable services. Lone Star RV Park in Baird, TX, presents itself as an option for those looking for a spot in West Texas. Situated in a smaller town setting, it caters to both short-term travelers passing through and those seeking a longer-term stay. However, recent public feedback indicates a mixed experience for visitors, prompting a more cautious and detailed look for prospective guests from our great state.
Texas boasts a vast and varied landscape, offering countless RV destinations from coastal havens to Hill Country retreats and the open expanses of West Texas. Baird, with its historical roots and proximity to Abilene, offers a distinct, rural Texas experience. Lone Star RV Park, like any accommodation, has its own unique character. While the idea of a convenient stop along the highway or a long-term base in this region can be appealing, it's crucial for our local RV community to be fully informed by factual data and direct experiences. This overview aims to provide a clear, factual, and balanced perspective on what to expect at Lone Star RV Park, helping our fellow Texans make informed decisions about their next RV adventure. It's about ensuring transparency and managing expectations, so that your journey across the Lone Star State is as comfortable and safe as possible.
Lone Star RV Park is located at 1100 Walnut St, Baird, TX 79504, USA. Baird is a small city in Callahan County, West Texas, situated directly on Interstate 20. This makes the RV park highly accessible for travelers utilizing this major east-west interstate corridor, offering easy "in and out" access for RVs of various sizes. Its proximity to I-20 is a significant advantage for those looking for a convenient overnight stop or a base for exploring the West Texas region.
Baird itself is known for its historic downtown, including the Callahan County Pioneer Museum, and offers a quiet, small-town atmosphere. It serves as a good stepping stone to larger cities like Abilene, which is approximately 15 minutes east, providing access to more extensive amenities, shopping, dining, and healthcare facilities. While the park is easy to locate off the interstate, its address within the town of Baird positions it conveniently for accessing local services such as grocery stores, fuel, and restaurants that cater to travelers. This balance of direct highway access and small-town convenience can be appealing to many Texans, whether they are on a long journey or seeking a quieter long-term spot away from a bustling city.
Based on available public data, Lone Star RV Park advertises a range of services designed for RVers, including both overnight and long-term stays. However, it is essential to consider reported customer experiences regarding the reliability of these services.
Full Hookups: The park states it offers full hookups at its sites, which typically include water, sewer, and electricity (often 30-amp and 50-amp options to accommodate various RVs). This is a standard and crucial amenity for RV parks.
Wi-Fi Connectivity: Free high-speed internet (Wi-Fi) is advertised as available. However, a customer review indicates that the Wi-Fi connectivity has been inconsistent, with residents reportedly having to troubleshoot and even pay for fixes themselves to get it working reliably.
Laundromat: The park has a laundromat on-site, including a lounge area. This provides a convenient facility for guests to do laundry during their stay.
Propane Dispensing Station: An on-site propane dispensing station is advertised, with a service to pick up empty tanks and return them filled to your site, offering a notable convenience.
Recreation Room: A recreation room with amenities like a pool table, table tennis, and air hockey is listed as available for guest use.
Restrooms with Showers: The park advertises clean restrooms with showers, which are essential for tent campers or those in RVs without full bathroom facilities.
Mailboxes Available: For long-term guests, the availability of mailboxes is a useful service.
Dog Park & Dog Wash: The park features a dog park and a dog wash with temperature-controlled water, catering to guests traveling with pets.
Fire Pits & Free Firewood: Fire pits are located throughout the park, and free firewood is provided for guests, enhancing the camping experience.
Dump Station: A dump station is available for RVs.
Free Air Station: A free air station for tires is offered, a convenient amenity for RV maintenance.
Free TV Hookup: For daily/weekly sites, a free TV hookup for high-powered TV antenna is advertised. DirecTV is available for monthly guests for an additional charge.
Climate Controlled Storage Units: Limited availability of climate-controlled storage units is also listed.
While Lone Star RV Park advertises a comprehensive list of features, recent customer reviews highlight significant discrepancies and concerns that prospective visitors should be aware of.
Extensive Amenities (Advertised): The park's official website lists a wide array of amenities, including a dog park, dog wash, propane station, laundromat, recreation room, clean restrooms, mailboxes, fire pits with free firewood, dump station, free air station, and TV hookups. These, if fully functional and well-maintained, would make it a highly feature-rich park.
Security Concerns (Reported by Reviewers): A very serious concern raised by a reviewer involves feeling "scary" due to a "gang controlling who and where people can put their rv," with "20 people around my rv in masks and hats" in the dark. This points to significant safety and security issues that are paramount for any traveler, especially for women traveling alone.
Maintenance Issues (Reported by Reviewers): Multiple reviewers describe significant problems with park maintenance. This includes instances where water connections were hit by mowers, leading to multi-day outages, and residents having to repair connections themselves. Power outages due to "nonpayment" by management, taking hours to resolve, are also reported. Furthermore, the Wi-Fi is described as only working if "residents would have to go figure out why it wasn’t working then go spend there own money to fix it." The overall park maintenance (mowing, cleanup) is reported as only occurring "when the owner is coming into town."
Management Concerns (Reported by Reviewers): The property manager, Mary, is described as "not liking to get out of the office" and "lies about almost everything to get whatever she need accomplished." This indicates potentially poor responsiveness and trustworthiness from on-site management, directly impacting guest experience and problem resolution.
Sister Park Issues: Concerns are explicitly extended to "Sundance RV," stating that both parks suffer from the same issues regarding maintenance and management responsiveness, suggesting a systemic problem across affiliated properties.
Potential for Long-Term Stay (Advertised, but with caveats): The park advertises long-term rates and the ability to handle large RVs, which could be appealing for those seeking extended stays in the area, assuming the reported issues are resolved.
For direct inquiries regarding Lone Star RV Park, including availability, rates, or to address any concerns, the following contact information is provided. However, given the severe issues reported in reviews, exercising caution and thorough verification before committing to a stay is strongly advised.

Given the nature of the reviews, it would be prudent for prospective visitors to attempt to speak directly with park ownership if possible, and to thoroughly inquire about the management practices, security measures, and maintenance schedules before making any commitments. Checking more recent reviews on various platforms might also provide a clearer picture of current conditions.
Given the significant and concerning issues raised in recent customer reviews, it is critical for Texans to approach Lone Star RV Park with extreme caution. While its location in Baird offers convenient access off I-20 and proximity to Abilene, and the advertised list of amenities sounds appealing, the reported experiences suggest that the park currently falls short of providing a reliable, safe, and well-managed environment.
The core suitability for locals would typically involve a dependable place for long-term stays or comfortable overnight stops. However, severe reports of alleged "gangster activities," feeling "scary," inadequate maintenance (water and power outages, unkempt grounds), and unresponsive/untrustworthy management (the "lady manager... never believed all the gangster activities," "Mary the property manager doesn’t like to get out of the office... she lies about almost everything") directly contradict the fundamental expectations for a safe and pleasant RV park experience. For Texans, who value community, security, and functional services, these reported conditions are highly problematic. While the park advertises numerous features such as a dog park, recreation room, and free firewood, their value is diminished if basic utilities are unreliable or if guests feel unsafe. Therefore, until these serious concerns are demonstrably addressed and verified through consistent positive feedback, Lone Star RV Park, despite its convenient location, may not be suitable for Texans prioritizing security, consistent services, and a well-managed environment for their RV stays. Prospective visitors should conduct extensive due diligence and consider these severe warnings.

Lone Star RV Park Reviews
My experience was scary. There is a gang controlling who and where people can put their rv. The lady manager was kind to me ,but she never believed all the gangster activities going on. I really doubt that the owner knows what is going on. When we was getting ready to leave, a couple of the people apologized to me. I wish I had never gone there. I was only 1nof 3 womin the park. In the dark I experience 20 people around my rv in masks and hats, some were women. The police need to patrol the place.
Jun 18, 2025 · Melinda WinsettIf it was possible to give negative 5 star I wouldn’t hesitate, Lonestar RV and Sundance Rv are sister parks, At both park they are only mowed and cleaned up when the owner is coming into town. When they do come out and decide to half way mow they hit the water connection on the Rv spot, After they shut off the water they have the residence go two more more days without fixing it or they would wait until the residents got so fed up with going without water the residents would fix the water connection. The power would always be turned off due to nonpayment which would take hours for them to pay the bill to have it reconnected, as far as the wifi the only time it works is when the residents would have to go figure out why it wasn’t working then go spend there own money to fix it just to have Wi-Fi. Mary the property manager doesn’t like to get out of the office of the RV, she lies about almost everything to get whatever she need accomplished, t, I would never stay at either one of these park ever again.
Sep 20, 2024 · ashley jonesDo not stay here if you enjoy amenities! Rude and you can’t ever get them on the phone. Constant electricity issues, wifi issues and broken water lines. Went with out water 2 days when we first got there. Go into Abilene or Clyde. Same thing at the sister park Sundance Rv
