Lake Waco Marina and RV Campground

3201 Over Flow Rd, Waco, TX 76712, USA

3.0
Avid camper here and fisherman, never in all my years of camping and fishing have I met a campground where one is not allowed to park the boat at the camper to charge the batteries, instead being asked to park in a non secure lot without power that was too small to get into anyway. Zero customer service on trying to figure it out. What makes this bad is there is no mention of this rule in the terms when paying, only signs at the park, so it’s a bait and switch and they don’t care, I highly recommend staying some place else, which seems to be a mutual feeling amongst the reviews, perhaps the owners/managers can learn from the reviews. In response to the Marina responding to my review, they in fact did not kick us out. We asked for a refund and that we would leave so that we could stay somewhere else, the overflow storage parking area they have is in fact lighted yes, but it is not large and there may be a camera, but the last time I checked, the camera does not stop anyone from breaking into your possessions , then you only hope that the camera is good enough to get any detail details so you could find who might break into your things. They also did not try to work with us. They just said move your boat and I did try and I could not fit in the overflow parking. And the final thing legality threats, I made zero threats, and I never once did and I do not do that, so there are multiple bits of misinformation coming from these people, I would highly recommend staying somewhere else and avoiding this place as much as possible. - Erik Davenport

In Central Texas, Waco provides a vibrant blend of history, culture, and fantastic water recreation, particularly on Lake Waco. One unique option for RVers looking for a lakeside experience is the Lake Waco Marina and RV Campground.

The Lake Waco Marina and RV Campground positions itself as a prime destination for those who want to be right on the water. It’s an RV park that comes with the added convenience of a marina, suggesting easy access for boaters and anglers. The promise of pulling your boat up to your RV, as mentioned on their website, paints a picture of ultimate accessibility for water enthusiasts.

However, it's essential for fellow Texans to approach this campground with a clear understanding of its specific operational policies, particularly concerning boat parking. While the location itself offers scenic beauty and proximity to Lake Waco's activities, some past guest experiences highlight areas where clarity and customer service could be improved, particularly regarding rules not explicitly stated during booking.

This article aims to provide a factual and balanced overview of Lake Waco Marina and RV Campground. We'll detail its location and accessibility, outline the services it reportedly offers, highlight its key features (including its unique marina access), and provide contact information. Our goal is to equip local users with the necessary information to make an informed decision, ensuring their lakeside RV adventure in Waco is as smooth as possible.

Location and Accessibility

Lake Waco Marina and RV Campground is situated at 3201 Over Flow Rd, Waco, TX 76712, USA. This location places it directly on the banks of Lake Waco, providing campers with immediate waterfront access and often stunning lake views. Lake Waco itself is a large reservoir managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, offering extensive opportunities for boating, fishing, and various water sports.

Accessibility to the campground from major roads is generally good for Texans. It's located off main routes that lead into Waco, making it relatively straightforward to reach with an RV. While the specific "Over Flow Rd" might suggest a less-trafficked area, its proximity to the lake implies it's within a recreational zone that is well-known to locals. The campground's website emphasizes its convenient drive to downtown Waco for shops, restaurants, and visiting iconic attractions like the Magnolia Silos, indicating good road connections to the city center.

Being on the shoreline, the park aims to offer direct water access for guests, with boat launches available. For those interested in activities beyond the water, the surrounding Waco area provides numerous options. These include various trails for biking and hiking, allowing campers to explore the natural beauty surrounding the lake. The proximity to the "Minnow" restaurant next door, a casual spot for drinks and eats, also adds to the on-site convenience, reducing the need to drive into town for basic refreshments or a meal.

However, it's worth noting that access to and navigation within the overflow parking or specific areas might be challenging for larger rigs, as indicated by some past reviews. Nonetheless, for those seeking a true lakeside RV experience with close proximity to Waco's urban amenities and direct water access, the location of Lake Waco Marina and RV Campground is a significant draw.

Services Offered

Lake Waco Marina and RV Campground aims to provide a range of services that cater to RVers and those looking to enjoy the Lake Waco experience, with a strong emphasis on water access. While specific details can sometimes vary, the general offerings are designed for a comfortable stay by the lake.

  • Full Hookup RV Sites: The park primarily offers RV sites equipped with 30-amp and 50-amp electricity, water, and sewer connections. This provides all the necessary utilities for a self-contained RV stay. Some sites are noted to be "deluxe waterfront" or "lakeview," indicating varying levels of view and proximity to the water.
  • Back-In and Pull-Through Sites: The campground offers both back-in and pull-through sites, accommodating different RV sizes and preferences. Sites are designed to fit vehicles up to 50 or 70 feet long, depending on the site type.
  • Restrooms and Showers: The park provides restrooms and showers for guest convenience. Their website mentions "air condition and heated restrooms including hot shower toilets and sinks."
  • Boat Launch: Given its marina designation, the campground offers boat launch facilities, making it easy for campers to get their vessels onto Lake Waco.
  • Marina Slips: For those with boats, the presence of numerous marina slips makes it convenient to moor boats directly at the marina. While the rule regarding parking boats at individual campsites has been a point of contention in reviews, the marina itself serves this purpose.
  • Dump Station: A dump station is typically available for RV waste, as is standard for full-service RV parks.
  • BBQ Pits and Picnic Areas: Several "bbq pit picnic areas on the lakes edge" are available for guest use, perfect for outdoor cooking and dining with a view.
  • Gated Park: The park is "gated to keep it private," offering an added layer of security and exclusivity for guests.
  • On-Site Store / Snack Stand: A "General Store" and "Snack Stand" are available, providing convenience for basic supplies or quick refreshments.
  • Wildlife Viewing Opportunities: The park is noted for having "a lot of wildlife" and "plenty of places to hike and walk to see it all," suggesting a natural environment for nature lovers.
  • Nearby Dining/Drinks: The "Minnow" restaurant located next door provides immediate access to "basic drinks and eats," enhancing the convenience for campers.

While the services generally aim to provide a comfortable lakeside RV experience, potential visitors should be aware of the specific rules regarding boat parking at campsites, which may require using designated overflow areas rather than parking at individual sites.
