Lake Success Mobile Lodge Introduce
Lake Success Mobile Lodge is a prominent RV Park situated in the Central Valley foothills of California, offering a convenient stop or base camp for travelers and outdoor enthusiasts exploring the Tulare County region. Located directly on State Route 190, the lodge is named for its close proximity to Success Lake, a popular recreational reservoir managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This facility caters primarily to the RV community, providing a designated space with essential amenities for both short-term stays and extended visits.
The park's main draw is its location: an incredibly short distance from the lake’s recreation area, which includes public campgrounds and a marina. This makes it an ideal launch point for activities such as fishing, boating, and exploring the Tule River area. The lodge is positioned strategically near the gateway to the breathtaking Sequoia National Forest, making it a compelling alternative to the often-crowded campgrounds within the forest itself.
However, potential visitors and residents must be aware of certain conditions that define the experience. Success Lake, as a flood control reservoir, is subject to significant water level fluctuations, which have been noted by multiple guests to be “grossly low” at times, impacting the available surface area for recreation. Furthermore, the park's immediate surroundings include a mining operation next door, which can lead to noisy weekdays—a crucial factor for those seeking absolute silence. Community feedback also suggests that maintenance of communal facilities, specifically restrooms and showers, may be an inconsistent challenge. The experience here is fundamentally tied to the fluctuating conditions of the natural environment and the industrial surroundings, providing both an affordable price point and unparalleled access to the outdoors.
The location of Lake Success Mobile Lodge is one of its strongest selling points for the California traveler. The park is situated at 30464 CA-190, Porterville, CA 93257, USA, placing it just off the main highway leading from the Central Valley floor up into the Sierra Nevada mountains. This positioning offers exceptional accessibility for RVs and towing vehicles, making for an easy in-and-out experience.
Crucially, the lodge is less than a mile from the Success Lake Recreation Area, which contains boat launch ramps and the Tule Campground managed by the Army Corps of Engineers. This means guests have immediate access to the lake's amenities without the necessity of staying in the public campgrounds. The nearby town of Porterville provides essential services, dining, and shopping options, typically only a 15-to-20-minute drive away.
For adventure seekers, the RV park is located on the road that directly leads to the Giant Sequoia National Monument and the vast, beautiful expanse of the Sequoia National Forest. This makes it a perfect staging point for day trips to see the magnificent Giant Sequoias, explore hundreds of miles of trails, or engage in high-elevation activities in the Southern Sierra region. The easy highway access, paired with its location in the rolling, scenic foothills, makes it a highly convenient hub for regional exploration.
Lake Success Mobile Lodge provides the core services expected of a functional RV Park, accommodating the needs of travelers who are either passing through or establishing a longer-term base to enjoy the area.
- RV Site Essentials: The park provides sites that include basic necessities for RV camping, such as access to essential hookups (though specific amp details are not publicly detailed).
- Campground Comforts: Each designated site typically includes key items for an enjoyable outdoor experience, such as tables for dining and preparation, and fire rings for traditional campfire cooking or relaxation.
- Communal Facilities: Essential communal facilities are available to all guests, which include showers and toilets. This is a critical service, although customer feedback indicates that maintenance and cleanliness levels for these facilities can be inconsistent.
- Price and Value: Guests have noted the park for its price, suggesting that it offers a cost-effective option for RV stays compared to other facilities in the region.
- Outdoor Amenities: The property includes amenities that enhance the usability of the sites, such as shade provided by trees or structures and lamp hooks for exterior lighting and decor.
The unique highlights of Lake Success Mobile Lodge center on its unparalleled proximity to a major recreational hub and its potential as an affordable, accessible base for Southern Sierra adventures.
- Direct Lake Proximity: The most significant feature is its location on CA-190, less than a mile from the main Success Lake area. This offers easy access to the marina, boat launch ramps, and the various water-based activities of the reservoir, including fishing for bass, crappie, catfish, and stocked trout.
- Gateway to Sequoia: The park is a highly convenient starting point for exploring the Giant Sequoia National Monument and the high-country wonders of the Sequoia National Forest, bypassing the lengthy drive into the mountains from the valley floor.
- Affordable Base Camp: It provides a great price point, making it a very accessible option for budget-conscious RVers who want to be near key natural attractions without paying premium resort rates.
- Individual Site Features: Campers appreciate the provision of dedicated fire rings and tables at sites, allowing for traditional outdoor activities and mealtimes.
- Shaded Areas: The presence of shade on certain sites is a valuable feature, especially during the hot Central Valley summers, offering a welcome respite from the California sun.

August 19 · Reania NormanPrice, showers, tables, fire rings, shade, lamp hooks. Mining operation next door makes for noisy weekdays. Not much of a lake anymore. Two part CG and again they closed the good, quiet side with the giant playground, for the season. Hmm
November 04 · Bill E ShearsWas staying less than a mile up the road, visiting from out of town. Wanted to walk to the lake since it wasn't far. A short piece of my walk was along the 190, so I pulled off that road as soon as I could and into what looked like just a camp ground with trailers/rvs.Ok, seems like a walking path through here to the lake, nice! As I was minding my own business, no loud music, not smoking, drinking, or literally even talking, just walking right on through, a man comes out of his trashy trailer labeled "manager" and begins to call me over telling me "young man, you can't walk through here!." I'm sorry? This is an open rv park, right next to a lake, I'm simply going from point A to point B and wasn't trying to bother anyone. He repeats himself sternly, clearly unhappy with his miserable life and overcompensating by trying to control my wonderful day.I'm a 5'4", white, athletic, dude in his late 30s. I was wearing a beanie that said "smile" and a harry styles hoodie carrying a water bottle clearly on a walk. Not exactly the picture of intimidating or threatening and yet here I am being yelled at by a "manager" in his pajamas at 4pm on a Monday as if I'm some criminal roaming the streets. Get a life, or a real job you loser.
