Lake Rousseau RV Resort

10811 N Coveview Terrace Office, Crystal River, FL 34428, USA

4.0
Called and was told they have nice primitive campsites and a boat ramp. Booked a night, site unseen, for $80!!! Most expensive campsite of my life. I get there early Saturday to discover the boat ramp is completely weed choked and unusable. So have to trailer to a different ramp. The campsite they gave me was sandwiched tightly between RV's, with one's "stinky slinky" emptying into the ground on my site. No way, complained, and they gave me a new site, right between 2 RV's, on the main drag. NO. They won't refund my $80. I had no choice but to take the hit. This place is as crowded as a Walmart parking lot. You will not find peace. They do not have an operational boat ramp. And they're so hungry for money, they will not refund you. Steer clear of this crappy destination. - D.P.C.

Features / Highlights

  • Friendly Staff and Community Vibe: Many guests consistently praise the "nice" and "wonderful" staff, including Mr. Corky, Ms. Barbara, and Ms. Lori, for their helpfulness and care. The resort is often described as having a "small community" feel, with friendly residents who contribute to a welcoming atmosphere, making it feel like "living the life of a small community."
  • Well-Maintained and Peaceful Environment: Reviews highlight the resort as being "well maintained and peaceful," offering a serene setting ideal for relaxation. The presence of majestic live oak and cypress trees draped in Spanish moss adds to the natural beauty and provides ample shade, enhancing the overall tranquil experience.
  • Exceptional Fishing Opportunities: Lake Rousseau is highly regarded for its fishing, particularly for trophy-sized bass, crappie, and bluegill. The lake's calm waters, due to the presence of stumps that deter high-speed boating, ensure a peaceful fishing experience. Access to both freshwater and saltwater fishing (via a nearby public brackish water launch) is a major draw for anglers.
  • Amenities for Comfort and Convenience: The resort provides essential amenities such as a heated swimming pool, clean restrooms and showers (with AC), and a well-equipped laundry room. The on-site bait & tackle shop and LP gas services add to the convenience for RVers.
  • Direct Lake Access: The private boat launch offers direct and easy access to Lake Rousseau, which is a significant advantage for those with boats, kayaks, or canoes.
  • Potential for Crowding and Site Issues: One highly critical review indicated an experience with very crowded conditions, comparing it to a "Walmart parking lot," and a lack of privacy between sites. This specific guest also reported an "unusable" and "weed choked" boat ramp upon arrival, leading to frustration and the need to use an alternative ramp. This suggests that site availability and boat ramp conditions may vary.
  • Refund Policy Concerns: The same critical review mentioned a refusal to refund the booking fee despite dissatisfaction with the site and amenities, raising concerns about the resort's refund policy.
  • Emphasis on Relaxation over Activities: While some find the peacefulness appealing, one review noted "There isn't much to do at this site, but the dock (fishing), and the pool were good enough for us to relax and enjoy," suggesting it's more suited for those seeking quietude rather than a packed activity schedule.
