This can be perfect for those who prioritize a beautiful setting and outdoor activities over extensive modern conveniences. Understanding what this park offers, from its location to its specific features, will help you determine if it's the ideal spot for your next Louisiana RV getaway. This article aims to provide a clear, factual overview of La Maison Des Chenes & Mermentau RV Park, allowing fellow Louisianians to make an informed decision about their next camping destination.
La Maison Des Chenes & Mermentau RV Park is located at 40522 E Lakeshore Rd, Gueydan, LA 70542, USA. This address places it directly on the shores of the Mermentau River, a prominent waterway in Southwest Louisiana. Gueydan, often referred to as the "Duck Capital of America," is a small town deeply rooted in its natural surroundings, offering a peaceful and authentic Cajun experience. The park's location provides direct access to the river, which is a significant draw for fishing and boating enthusiasts.
While the exact distance from major highways isn't specified, its location on E Lakeshore Rd suggests a more secluded setting, allowing for a quieter experience away from the constant hum of interstate traffic. However, it's essential for RVers, especially those with larger rigs, to be mindful of local roads and potential low-hanging branches, as one past visitor noted issues with oak trees. Planning your route and perhaps contacting the park in advance for specific directions regarding large vehicle access could be beneficial. The beauty of this location lies in its connection to the Mermentau River, offering scenic views and a tranquil environment that truly captures the essence of Louisiana's bayou country. Its proximity to natural wildlife refuges and the unique culture of Acadiana makes it a prime spot for local exploration.
Services Offered:

- Water Access: Its riverside location means direct access to the Mermentau River for boating and fishing activities.
- Pier/Dock Access: Based on reviews, there appears to be a pier or dock, which could offer fishing opportunities or a place to moor small boats. However, it's important to note one review mentioned a pier in disrepair.

- Beautiful Scenery: The park is highlighted for its "beautiful scenery," emphasizing its natural appeal along the river.
Features / Highlights:
- Riverside Location: The primary highlight is undoubtedly its position on the Mermentau River, offering picturesque views and direct access to fishing and boating. This is perfect for those who love water-based activities.
- Natural Setting: The park's environment, surrounded by nature and potentially large oak trees, contributes to a serene and authentic outdoor experience.

It is important for prospective visitors to be aware of mixed reviews. While one guest highlighted the beautiful scenery and hospitable owners, another expressed significant dissatisfaction regarding the park's upkeep, specifically mentioning a deteriorating pier, a rotten bench, and low-hanging oak trees that rubbed against their 13'5" tall 5th wheel. These concerns suggest that the park might be more suited to certain types of RVs or visitors who are prepared for a more rustic or "natural" environment, or those who prioritize the scenic beauty and direct river access above pristine facilities. It is advisable for RVers with tall rigs to inquire about tree clearance and overall site conditions before booking.

La Maison Des Chenes & Mermentau RV Park Reviews
The reason why I'm even giving it one star is because it was 4th of July weekend and that's all that was available! The owner evidently doesn't take pride in his place. Not friendly at all. We stayed by a pier and half of it was falling into the water, outside bench was rotten and totally leaning to one side! Trying to get out with the a 13'.5" tall 5th Wheel was crazy!!! The Oak Trees were hanging so low that it rubbed along the top of our new camper roof😡 Don't ever plan to go back there again! Let all the attached photos be the Judge!
