Hwy 22 RV Park Introduce
For many Texans, RV travel is more than just a hobby; it's a lifestyle that embodies freedom, exploration, and the joy of the open road. Whether you're a full-time RVer, a weekend warrior, or someone seeking a quiet long-term stay, finding the right RV park is crucial for a comfortable and enjoyable experience. In the heart of Central Texas, a short drive from the charming towns of Hillsboro and Whitney, lies Hwy 22 RV Park, a smaller, well-maintained option that has garnered attention for its peaceful atmosphere and dedicated management.
This article aims to provide a clear, engaging, and informative overview of Hwy 22 RV Park, based directly on the feedback of its guests. As a professional content writer specializing in local business SEO, my goal is to give local users in Texas a realistic and comprehensive understanding of what this park offers. We will delve into its strategic location, detail the services available, highlight its key features, and address some important considerations, all presented with a friendly, professional, and factual tone to help you decide if it's the right fit for your next Texas RV adventure.
Hwy 22 RV Park is conveniently located at 3083 TX-22, Hillsboro, TX 76645, USA. This address places the park directly on State Highway 22, a major thoroughfare that connects Hillsboro to various points west, including the popular Lake Whitney area. Hillsboro itself is a historic city in Hill County, known for its iconic courthouse, antique shops, and as a convenient stop along the busy I-35 corridor between Dallas-Fort Worth and Waco/Austin.
The park's location offers a strategic advantage for travelers. It's described as "a short drive from either Hillsboro or Whitney," providing easy access to amenities in both towns. Hillsboro offers essentials like grocery stores, local dining, and some retail options. Whitney, further west, is a gateway to Lake Whitney, a popular destination for fishing, boating, and various water sports. This means residents and guests can enjoy the tranquility of a smaller park setting while still being within reach of necessary services and recreational opportunities.
Being "right on the road" (TX-22) ensures excellent accessibility for RVs of all sizes, making arrivals and departures straightforward. However, it also means there might be "road noise," particularly from "big-rigs operating the Jake brake" or "kids hot-rodding in the middle of the night." While one reviewer notes that "With the AC running in the RV, I barely ever noticed anything outside," this is an important consideration for those sensitive to noise. Despite this, its position provides a good balance for those who value easy access and a clear route to explore Central Texas.
Hwy 22 RV Park provides a focused set of services aimed at making RV stays comfortable and convenient, particularly for its size. Based on guest feedback, the park offers:
Full RV Sites: The park features 12 RV sites, implying that each site comes with essential full hookups (electricity, water, and sewer connections) necessary for modern RV living.
On-site Laundry Facility: A "small laundry facility on site" is a highly valued amenity for RVers, especially those on extended stays, allowing them to conveniently refresh their wardrobe without leaving the park.
Manager/Owner Oversight: The park is managed and operated by individuals described as "nice people who take their guests seriously" and who "keep everyone to some very reasonable rules." This indicates an active and attentive management presence that contributes to the park's well-kept nature and ensures a consistent experience for all guests.
Wi-Fi Availability (with caveats): Wi-Fi is available at the park for a "reasonable fee." However, a detailed review highlights significant issues with this service, including low signal strength inside RVs initially and severe bandwidth throttling to "nearly pointless transfer speed" after a few hours. While the manager did offer a refund, this indicates that park Wi-Fi should not be relied upon for critical work or streaming needs.
While the park offers these key services, it's important for prospective guests to directly contact the park to confirm current rates, site availability, and any specific policies, especially regarding internet and cellular service expectations.
Hwy 22 RV Park boasts several features that contribute to its appeal, as well as some notable areas for consideration:
Cleanliness and Maintenance: A significant highlight is that the park is "rather well kept." This commitment to cleanliness and tidiness ensures a pleasant and inviting environment for all guests, a crucial factor for a positive RV park experience.
Reasonable Rules and Good Management: The manager/owner's dedication to "reasonable rules" that ensure "the enjoyment of everyone there" is a strong positive. This indicates a well-regulated environment that promotes a sense of order and respect among residents, preventing common issues found in less managed parks.
Peaceful Atmosphere (Despite Road Proximity): Despite being "right on the road," the park is consistently described as "very peaceful" and "nice and quiet." This suggests that the impact of road noise is manageable for most, especially with an RV's AC running, allowing for a relaxing stay.
Small and Intimate: With only "12 RV sites," the park offers a smaller, more intimate setting compared to larger resorts. This can foster a closer-knit community feel and provide a quieter experience.
Sense of Security: One reviewer notes that it "doesn't have a lot of janky rigs occupied by persons of questionable intentions," suggesting a generally safe and respectable environment. However, the same reviewer cautions that "things have and will 'walk off' if left in plain sight" due to being on the road, emphasizing the need for vigilance.
Key Considerations / Areas for Improvement:
Limited Cellular Coverage (AT&T Specific): A significant drawback for AT&T customers is "almost ZERO wireless voice or data coverage" in the area. This is a critical point for those who rely on AT&T for work or personal communication, as cellular boosters were ineffective.
Unreliable Wi-Fi Speeds: While Wi-Fi is offered, the experience of severe throttling to "nearly pointless transfer speed" makes it unreliable for activities like streaming or internet voice calls. This is an area explicitly identified for improvement by a guest.
Management Communication Style: One review describes the manager as "rude" and lacking understanding regarding "tight income," particularly in relation to SSI. This indicates potential issues with customer service and empathy that prospective guests on fixed incomes should be aware of.
These factors combined provide a comprehensive view of what to expect at Hwy 22 RV Park.

For Texans seeking an RV park experience, Hwy 22 RV Park in Hillsboro presents a suitable option, particularly for those who prioritize cleanliness, a peaceful environment, and well-managed grounds, while being mindful of its specific characteristics.
Its primary suitability for locals stems from its well-maintained nature and the consistent efforts of its management to enforce "reasonable rules" that ensure a pleasant atmosphere for all. This creates a secure and orderly environment, which is a major draw for RVers who value a sense of calm and a respectful community. For Texans looking for a "clean and safe RV space to live in for a bit," whether for a short stay or a longer period, Hwy 22 RV Park aligns perfectly with these fundamental needs. Its small size, with only "12 RV sites," also lends itself to a more intimate and less crowded experience, which many seek in an RV park.
The park's location on TX-22 offers practical accessibility to both Hillsboro and Whitney, providing convenient access to local amenities and the popular recreational opportunities around Lake Whitney. This balance of being "a short drive from either Hillsboro or Whitney" makes it convenient for Texans to stock up on supplies, enjoy local dining, or engage in outdoor activities without venturing too far.
However, local Texans considering Hwy 22 RV Park must be prepared for the specific challenges noted by past guests, particularly regarding connectivity. For those relying on AT&T for cellular service or needing reliable internet for work or entertainment, the reported "almost ZERO wireless voice or data coverage" and the unreliable Wi-Fi speeds are critical factors. This means that Texans choosing this park should come prepared with alternative internet solutions or be comfortable with limited connectivity. Despite this, for many Texans, the core benefits of a "nice little RV park" with a "peaceful" ambiance and diligent management often outweigh these technical limitations. It's a place recommended for those who prioritize a well-kept, quiet spot to relax, rather than a tech-dependent hub. Texans looking for a simple, clean, and safe base for their RV adventures in Central Texas will likely find Hwy 22 RV Park to be a solid choice, provided they manage their connectivity expectations.

Hwy 22 RV Park Reviews
This is a very nice little RV park a short drive from either Hillsboro or Whitney, Texas with 12 RV sites and a small laundry facility on site. While it is not very big, it is rather well kept, and the manager/owner keeps everyone to some very reasonable rules to ensure the enjoyment of everyone there. The folks that own and operate this park are nice people who take their guests seriously. I would definitely stay here again. There are other parks nearby, but this one is nicer by quite a bit, and doesn't have a lot of janky rigs occupied by persons of questionable intentions. However, it is right on the road and things have and will "walk off" if left in plain sight. The road noise is only a nuisance when the occasional big-rig operates the Jake brake driving past, or kids hot-rodding in the middle of the night. With the AC running in the RV, I barely ever noticed anything outside. This is a good little RV park for what it is/costs, but I can't give it 5 stars for a couple reasons. The first reason is of no fault of the owners, but the second is an area they could improve.First off, this park is squarely in the middle of an area that AT&T has almost ZERO wireless voice or data coverage. Being an AT&T customer, I found it difficult to make/receive phone calls without problems inside or even outside the RV. . . and wireless data/internet, well, that's even worse. Since I travel for work, its important that I have good phone and internet available. I even spent a bunch of money buying cellular booster systems for my RV and vehicle, but as they say, you can't boost zero.Secondly, there is wifi available at the park for a reasonable fee. Initially, I wasn't able to make it work inside of my RV because of the low transmitting power of my devices. After a couple weeks, I got a wifi booster setup that made it work GREAT initially. However, somebody decided that park guests don't need anything more than roughly dial-up modem internet speeds, and my bandwidth was throttled to .4 mbps. This is my only real gripe. There was no guarantee made about internet speeds, but it worked perfectly normal for the first few hours I had things running, but then I was throttled down to a nearly pointless transfer speed (so slow that everything timed-out, no chance in the world of streaming a video or even making an internet voice call.) Rather than change the settings to something reasonable, the manager elected to give me my money back. Fair, but not the result I was hoping for. This is the one area that could be easily improved, and I hope for the sake of future guests, will be.In all, this is a great spot for folks who just want a clean and safe RV space to live in for a bit, and I wouldn't hesitate to send friends there or stay there again myself. Just be aware ahead of time that you'll need to bring your own phone/internet service, and that AT&T sucks a fat one in that area.
