Gulf Coast RV Park provides a range of essential services designed to cater to RVers. Based on available public information and customer feedback, here are some of the key services you can expect:
- Full Hookup RV Sites: The park offers full hookup sites, including 30 amp and potentially 50 amp service (though one review notes 50 amp sites may not be eligible for certain discounts), with water and sewer access at each site.
- Gravel Parking with Cement Pads: Sites feature gravel parking with cement pads, providing a stable and somewhat level surface for RVs, and are accompanied by picnic tables.
- Laundry Facilities: On-site laundry facilities are available for guest use. However, some reviews indicate that "most of the washers and dryers do not work," and the laundry room may be "filthy."
- Bath House/Restrooms and Showers: A bath house with restrooms and showers is provided. One review mentions "clean facilities," while another states the laundry room is "filthy," which might also pertain to the bathhouse condition.
- Recreation Room: There is a "large rec room" mentioned, which could be used for crafting or other communal activities.
- Pet-Friendly Policy: The park welcomes pets, indicating it's suitable for those traveling with their furry companions.
- Tent Camping: The park states it offers tent camping, though details about specific tent-only sites are limited.
- Discounts: Discounts are available for Passport America, Good Sam, and Military with valid ID, though certain restrictions (e.g., not valid on weekends/holidays, seasonal limitations, 50 amp sites) may apply.
Gulf Coast RV Park offers several features and highlights that shape the guest experience, alongside some significant concerns raised by previous visitors. It's crucial for prospective campers to consider both aspects:
- Proximity to Bon Secour River: A distinct highlight is being just "300 yards from the serene Bon Secour River," offering opportunities for fishing, kayaking, or simply enjoying the peaceful water.
- Close to Gulf Shores Beaches: The park's location "only 5 miles from the beautiful beaches of Gulf Shores" is a major draw, providing easy access to the area's primary attraction for swimming, sun, and sand.
- Shade Trees: Many sites boast "lots of beautiful shade trees," which can be a valuable feature, especially during Alabama's warm summer months.
- Spacious Sites: The park features "large RV and tent camping sites," offering ample space for campers.
- Potential for Friendly Staff (Conflicting Information): One positive review notes "Staff friendly," indicating some guests have had pleasant interactions.
- Dog-Friendly Area: One review specifically mentions bringing "the pups and they loved it. Especially swimming at the lake dog park!!," suggesting a dedicated area for dogs to enjoy. (Note: This specific amenity "lake dog park" might be referring to a general dog-friendly lake area nearby, as the park itself is primarily near a river and doesn't explicitly state having a lake on-site for dog swimming in its listed amenities).
- Concerns about Maintenance and Cleanliness: Multiple reviews highlight significant issues, including "trash scattered everywhere," "filthy" laundry room with "most of the washers and dryers do not work," and an office that "smells like a truck stop and looks like one too."
- Electrical Issues: A critical concern raised by a customer is a "faulty shore power station" that reportedly "fried our converter in our camper (even with a surge protector)," leading to prolonged runarounds from on-site "maintenance."
- Unprofessional Staff Conduct Allegations: One extensive review describes "extremely unprofessional" behavior from staff, specifically an inability or unwillingness to address power issues and a general "run around" for days.
- Misleading Online Pictures: A strong caution from a previous guest states that "The pictures online in reviews are misleading," and encourages prospective visitors to view actual current photos to avoid disappointment.
- Appearance: Described as looking "like a Kid Rock music video complete with trash scattered everywhere, cars on blocks and trump flags galore!" suggesting a cluttered and unkempt appearance.

Gulf Coast RV Park in Gulf Shores, Alabama, presents a mixed bag for locals within the Alabama region considering an RV stay. For Alabamians seeking a highly affordable option to access the popular Gulf Shores area, its location offers undeniable convenience. Being just five miles from the famous white-sand beaches means easy access to coastal recreation, and its proximity to the serene Bon Secour River provides additional opportunities for water-based activities like fishing and kayaking, which are highly valued by many locals. The presence of large, shaded sites could also be appealing to those looking for a more natural setting compared to open, paved resorts.
However, it is crucial for local residents to be aware of the significant and consistent negative feedback regarding the park's maintenance, cleanliness, and, in some cases, staff professionalism and electrical reliability. While one review points to "super nice" facilities and friendly staff, multiple detailed accounts describe issues like "trash scattered everywhere," "filthy" laundry rooms with broken machines, and critical problems with faulty power hookups that damaged RVs. These concerns suggest that while the location offers convenience and potential affordability, the overall quality of the park's infrastructure and management of amenities may not meet the expectations of all RVers. For locals, if the primary goal is a budget-conscious stay very close to Gulf Shores beaches and the Bon Secour River, and they are prepared to potentially overlook or manage issues related to park upkeep and services, then Gulf Coast RV Park might serve as a base. However, a thorough personal visit before booking, especially for longer stays, is highly recommended to assess if the actual conditions align with their personal standards for an RV experience in Alabama.

Gulf Coast RV Park Reviews
This place looks like a Kid Rock music video complete with trash scattered everywhere, cars on blocks and trump flags galore! The pictures online in reviews are misleading so I took the liberty to upload several in hopes that it would save somebody money and time! The very first day we got there we fried our converter in our camper (even with a surge protector) because of a faulty shore power station. Had to run our power off of another lot, then a battery charger to keep our 12v topped off while the on site 'maintenance' men gave us the run around for three days on fixing it. We had to employ someone separate to come and fix it because the people who work at this park couldn't be bothered to do their alleged job.Extremely unprofessional. The laundry room is filthy, most of the washers and dryers do not work. The main office smells like a truck stop and looks like one too.We spent 30 days here and it was the worst experience.Had I of seen pictures of what this place actually looked like, I would not have booked here.
Sep 29, 2024 · PatrickSuper nice. Great state park. Clean facilities, nice sites. Staff friendly. Will be back. Brought the pups and they loved it. Especially swimming at the lake dog park!!
Aug 21, 2024 · Harold GussmanGreat place to stay!! Friendly staff and lots of shade.
Mar 27, 2025 · Holly BrownVery good place to stay and staff is friendly. The building where the office is very messy inside and out it definitely needs to be cleaned up. The washers and dryers worked great it’s just very hot in that room. The bathroom is decently clean just hot in there as well. I feel like if you took a shower in there you’d burn up because of the heat. Otherwise everything was great and we would stay here again.
Jun 16, 2021 · Hailey FelkinsNice little hidden gem! Awesome shade, clean restrooms and laundry facilities, and friendly staff! It is tight but we didn’t have any problems with our camper and truck. The shade is a great thing to have in the summer heart to help keep the AC from running non-stop. Sites were not level and that made it a bit difficult but we made it work. There was a plank of wood next the site that we realized as we were pulling out was probably there to help with that. Quiet as far as residents but neat nature sounds at night!!! The only addition I could think of would be a pool, but wasn’t a deal breaker. Will definitely be back here!!
