Gotta Getaway RV Park

4888 US-20, Bellevue, OH 44811, USA

4.0
This campground can best be described as unusual. The sites are everywhere at all different angles and directions. The pull-though section we were in was bumper to post alternating. So, Camper 1 – would pull-though Camper 2‘s site all the way to the other side stopping with their bumper lined up with the power box. Camper 2 would come from the other direction and drive through Camper 1’s site all the way to the other side stopping with their bumper lined up with the power box. Because someone might need to drive through your site we always felt like we had to make sure everything was always out of the way. There was another site that shared a deck area and others that shared a site/yard area because they are parked bumper to bumper at a 90-degree angle. The roads are just as strange. They are lined very tightly with trees making it impossible to get into some sites. Also, they run in the wrong direction to get to the dumpster or dump station. Creating a problem when cleaning up. If you don’t go backward around the campground you will need to go around the entire campground twice, once to get the dump station and dumpster and the second to get to the exit. The site all have water and electric. The restrooms looked like they had not been cared for in a while. The buildings appeared to be old and a bit run down. It is home to tons of Spiders, and webs Nothing about the restrooms are handicapped accessible to enter you must go up a step and there is a large step up to get into the shower. If you are over 6 feet tall your head is going to be between the rafters when showering so you will get to know the spiders very well. The pool was well cared for and they had a lifeguard on staff. They had a ton of things for people to do as well as planned activities. The campfire rings are small and the firewood for sale on site was expensive for what you got. It was a few pieces of scrap but no real logs or good cuts of wood. The sites are very well kept they were constantly mowing. We love the fact they let you enjoy your time. We strongly believe booking a campsite is like renting a piece of grass! We feel many campgrounds overstep and want to know way too much as much and want to control too many things. Even hotels that are providing everything don’t want to know that many details. Most campgrounds in the area charge for EVERYTHING as well as think they have the right to dictate what you do, how you do it and when you do. We never felt like we were being micro-managed or watched just waiting for us to do something wrong. They checked us in and allowed us to go to our site and take care of what we needed to do. They respected us as adults traveling and needing a place to park the rig and rest our heads. This is the only campground in the area that respects the fact camping is for families and they allow 6 people before they charge.Good campground just a bit strange. - Prentice Family

Gotta Getaway RV Park Introduce

For RV enthusiasts and families in Ohio seeking a memorable camping experience, Gotta Getaway RV Park in Bellevue offers a unique blend of abundant activities and a relaxed atmosphere. While some aspects of its layout and facilities have drawn specific observations from past visitors, the park stands out for its commitment to providing a fun-filled environment where campers feel respected and free to enjoy their stay without excessive oversight. This approach caters well to those who value a laid-back camping style with plenty of entertainment options.

Reviews highlight a vibrant activity schedule and impressive amenities. The "well cared for" pool with a "lifeguard on staff" is a significant draw, ensuring a safe and enjoyable swimming experience for all ages. Beyond the pool, the park boasts "a ton of things for people to do as well as planned activities," indicating a robust program designed to keep guests engaged. These planned events, alongside facilities like a fishing pond and various sports courts, create a lively and entertaining atmosphere that many campers actively seek.

However, it's worth noting that the park's layout and some of its older facilities have received specific feedback. Descriptions of "unusual" and "strange" site angles, tight roads, and basic or dated restrooms suggest that while the park provides a wealth of activities, it might appeal more to those who prioritize engaging experiences and a hands-off management approach over perfectly uniform sites and brand-new facilities. The recurring theme of feeling "respected as adults traveling and needing a place to park the rig and rest our heads" underscores a key philosophical difference that sets Gotta Getaway RV Park apart from others in Ohio – a focus on freedom and enjoyment over strict rules and micromanagement. This makes it an ideal spot for those who truly want to "get away" and enjoy their time without feeling overly restricted.

Location and Accessibility

Gotta Getaway RV Park is conveniently located at 4888 US-20, Bellevue, OH 44811, USA. Bellevue itself is a charming city that provides essential services and local flavor, while its proximity to major highways ensures easy travel to broader regional destinations.

The accessibility of Gotta Getaway RV Park is one of its strongest selling points for Ohio visitors. Situated directly off US-20, the park offers straightforward access for RVs of all sizes, though some internal roads and site layouts require careful navigation as noted in reviews. For daily needs, Bellevue offers local grocery stores, gas stations, and a selection of dining options, ensuring convenience during your stay.

What truly enhances its location is its proximity to major recreational and entertainment hubs. The park is described as a "perfect campground near Cedar Point, Lake Erie, Put-In-Bay," making it an ideal choice for thrill-seekers and water enthusiasts. Cedar Point Amusement Park, often dubbed the "roller coaster capital of the world," is just a short drive away, promising days of adrenaline-pumping fun. Lake Erie provides opportunities for boating, fishing, and lakeside relaxation, while the vibrant atmosphere of Put-In-Bay is easily accessible for day trips.
