The experience is often noted for its quiet country setting and the convenience of having essential services within easy reach, making it a functional choice for any RV traveler in the region.
The management is generally noted for being responsive and friendly, striving to provide a helpful experience for visitors. While some guests have had minor navigational issues due to reported discrepancies with the address on an invoice versus actual map data—a minor detail that can be easily overcome by using the park's name in GPS—the overall goal is to offer a smooth and hassle-free check-in and stay process. Knowing the area and confirming the location by park name is a simple tip for a seamless arrival.
Downey RV Park is situated right in the town of Downey, Idaho, a small community located in Marsh Valley in the southeastern corner of the state. Its specific address is:
308 1st S St, Downey, ID 83234, USA
This location offers an important balance: easy accessibility from major travel routes and proximity to local conveniences, while still retaining the peaceful atmosphere of a small country town. Downey is positioned near Interstate 15, which makes it an ideal overnight stop for those traveling north or south through Idaho. For local users and visitors from nearby areas like Pocatello, Preston, or even Northern Utah, Downey is an easy drive for a quick weekend getaway.
The park is strategically located near services within the town, including a convenience store right next door, which adds a significant layer of practicality for stocking up on supplies without needing to drive far. The accessibility includes:
- Easy access for large RVs and big rigs, thanks to spacious pull-through sites designed for straightforward navigation.
- Proximity to local town amenities, reducing the need for extensive travel to find basic necessities.
- A central location within the region, making it a good basecamp for exploring greater Southeast Idaho.
Guests should be mindful that like many RV parks, site conditions can vary, with some spaces featuring asphalt pads while others may have more gravel and weeds. It’s a classic Idaho country setting, offering views and a quiet atmosphere, though individual site specifics are best confirmed during booking if you have particular needs.
Downey RV Park provides essential amenities and services crucial for a comfortable and self-sufficient RV experience. The focus here is on utility and convenience for the traveling camper.

- RV Camping: The core offering is well-maintained RV camping sites, including large, easy-to-use pull-through sites that simplify parking and maneuvering, especially for larger rigs.
- Laundry Facilities: The park features a dedicated washer and dryer building, providing a significant convenience for long-term travelers or those who prefer to do their own laundry on-site.
- Shower Facilities: Clean and well-maintained shower facilities are a key benefit, particularly for those whose RVs have limited water or tank capacity.
- Pet-Friendly Area: An open field is available for running pets, catering to travelers with dogs and ensuring they have a space for exercise.

The park is also a reasonable distance from other regional highlights such as Red Rock Pass, the site of the ancient Lake Bonneville Flood.
- Functional Utilities: Power, sewage, and water systems are reported to work reliably, ensuring a basic but critical standard of comfort.
While the park offers a practical experience, it's worth noting an important distinction brought up by a guest: some sites may be narrow and situated near permanent residents, which can occasionally lead to issues with space, visual clutter, and dog activity. For residents and visitors in Idaho, Downey RV Park offers a compelling combination of features that make it a worthwhile choice for your next RV trip. The primary value lies in its functionality and convenient location. It is a reliable basecamp, especially for those who prioritize a simple, well-equipped site over a resort-style experience.
The park is an ideal stopover point for travelers on I-15 and an excellent launchpad for regional exploration. Key reasons to choose this park include the absolute convenience of full 50/30/20 amp hook-ups in spacious pull-through sites, which alleviates the stress of parking a large vehicle. You can be assured of functional utilities and dedicated facilities like the clean laundry and shower building, essential amenities that contribute significantly to a restful stay.
Furthermore, the park's setting offers a quiet, country respite from the road. While nearby residents and pets are a factor to consider, the overall atmosphere is one of a small, tranquil town. When you factor in unique amenities like the seasonal horse paddocks and covered RV storage, and the bonus of a convenience store next door, Downey RV Park distinguishes itself as a practical, resourceful, and friendly option in Southeast Idaho. It is a solid, no-frills destination focused on providing the necessary infrastructure for a worry-free RV camping experience, perfectly positioning you to enjoy the outdoor activities and attractions of the Idaho High Country.
It is important for guests to manage expectations; while it is a functional and friendly park, it is set in a rural town, and some sites may present the reality of shared community space, including close proximity to long-term residents. However, for the traveler seeking full hook-up utility, easy access, and a quiet night’s rest in Southeast Idaho, Downey RV Park remains a highly recommended and reliable option.

May 22 · HansWorst RV park I have ever stayed at, would not stay again. I would rather park in a dirt lot than go here again.Pros:* Easy to access once you know where to go (address is wrong).* Friendly neighbors, at least on one side. Only heard yelling from the other one time late at night.* Has a washer/dryer building with good lawn around it.* RV pad was asphalt.* Reserving was easy.* Power, sewage, etc. all worked as expected.* Convenience store right next door.Cons:* Address on invoice takes you to a spot about a half mile away. Had to use the name only in Google maps to find it.* Boxed in between two 'permanent residents' that were very messy, dog fences, satellite dishes, all infringing on the site I reserved.* Narrow sites* Water for my site was hooked up to neighboring site, they were using two.* Trees are really short and growing across RV pad. Scratching side of RV even before I used my slide outs. It literally was growing half way across the RV pad, had to break thick limbs to use slide outs.* A lot of DOGS! Some residents had up to 4 dogs.* No lawn around the sites, just weeds and gravel.* Pricey for what you get.
