City of Blackfoot RV Park Introduce
For Idaho residents and visitors exploring the southeast region, the City of Blackfoot RV Park presents one of the most practical and location-savvy options for a temporary stop. This city-run facility is designed specifically for self-contained RVs, offering essential hookups at a highly competitive daily rate. Situated at 1300 E Airport Rd, Blackfoot, ID 83221, its location provides a unique blend of convenience—being close to the city airport and major roads—and access to premier local recreation. This is not a secluded, deep-woods campground, but rather an efficient, urban-adjacent base camp for maximizing your time in Blackfoot.
The RV park is an excellent choice for those seeking a "no-frills" experience where the focus is on a quiet, safe parking spot with utility services, rather than extensive, costly amenities. As one customer noted, it is a "Nice, quiet place at the airport" and "Easy in and out." The design philosophy centers on providing the necessary infrastructure, such as water and electric, while leveraging the fantastic nearby public parks and recreational facilities for entertainment and activities. This approach keeps the camping fee low, ensuring an affordable stay for every traveler, whether you are visiting family, attending a local event, or just need a restful overnight stop on a larger Idaho adventure.
The City of Blackfoot RV Park is an affordable, seasonal camping resource provided by the City of Blackfoot, Idaho. It operates typically from April to October, catering primarily to short-term RV stays with a maximum limit of 14 nights. The park offers a total of 18 dedicated RV spaces, each equipped with electric and water hookups. While some customers have noted the reservation website can be challenging, the park provides an easy alternative through an on-site drop box for cash payments, especially after 1:30 PM daily. The core value of this RV park is its simplicity, low cost, and, most importantly, its exceptional proximity to some of Blackfoot’s best outdoor recreation areas.
The RV park is best suited for self-contained units, as the primary public restroom is located nearby, and there are no dedicated shower or laundry facilities on site. The cost is highly appealing, with sites generally available for a low nightly camping fee. The atmosphere is generally quiet and relaxed, providing a restful spot, which one reviewer described as the "perfect spot to stay when you’re in town visiting the in-laws." It is important for visitors to note that, as a city facility, it operates with clear rules, including the requirement for leashed pets and prohibiting certain types of grills and open flames.
The City of Blackfoot RV Park boasts a highly strategic location that dramatically enhances its appeal. It is situated at 1300 E Airport Rd, Blackfoot, ID 83221, USA, placing it on the outskirts of the main downtown area near the local airport. This position ensures easy access for large recreational vehicles entering and exiting the site without navigating congested city streets.
Beyond its transportation convenience, the park is an outdoor enthusiast's dream, as it is located adjacent to several key recreational facilities:
- Blackfoot Golf Course: An 18-hole championship course is right next door for golf lovers.
- Jensen's Grove: Within easy walking distance, this area offers a lake for swimming, boating, and fishing.
- Greenbelt Access: The park connects to a paved, 6.5-mile greenbelt path that encircles Jensen Grove Lake and passes by the golf course, ideal for walking, jogging, or biking.
- Baseball Complex: Adjacent to a complex of six baseball fields, making it an ideal base for families attending seasonal games or tournaments.
The combination of being close to major roads and services while also having direct access to miles of recreation makes the location truly unique for short-term Idaho stays.
The City of Blackfoot RV Park focuses on delivering essential services to ensure a functional and comfortable stay for RV travelers. These services are streamlined to keep costs low and maximize utility.
The core services provided include:

- RV Water Hookup: Running water connections are available at the sites during the seasonal operation months.
- Public Restroom: A public restroom facility is available nearby, though the park emphasizes its suitability for self-contained RVs.
- Tent Sites: The park also includes designated areas of grass for traditional tent camping.

It is crucial to note the park's policy against gray water dumping on the ground, which ensures the maintenance of the city's property and local environment.
The appeal of the City of Blackfoot RV Park extends beyond its basic hookups, resting heavily on its community integration and recreational features.
Key features and highlights include:
- Recreational Hub: The park's central feature is its direct proximity to major recreational assets, including the golf course, baseball fields, and the extensive Jensen's Grove area with its lake and greenbelt.
- Affordable Camping Fee: The low daily rate is one of the most compelling reasons to choose this park, offering superb value for money compared to many private facilities.
- Dog Park Access: The site is conveniently located near an awesome dog park, providing a great space for pet owners to allow their dogs to exercise off-leash.
- Pet-Friendly Policy: Dogs are allowed in the RV park, provided they are always leashed and their waste is picked up, accommodating travelers with pets.
- Big Rig Accommodations: Several sites are designed as pull-through spaces, with specific sites (1 through 7) offering 50-amp service and suitable size for large rigs, simplifying the process of setting up camp.
- Picnic Amenities: Some sites feature a picnic table, and the general area includes a shared, elevated charcoal grill for guest use.
- Shade Trees: Despite being described as a parking lot, the park has a "few small trees" and "large shade trees" which offer limited but appreciated shade during the warmer Idaho months.
These features demonstrate the city's effort to provide more than just a place to park, giving visitors a functional and recreation-focused base in Eastern Idaho.

For the RV traveler in Idaho, the City of Blackfoot RV Park is definitively worth choosing for three primary reasons: unbeatable value, prime recreation access, and strategic location.
First, the value proposition is clear. The daily camping fee is exceptionally low, providing electric and water hookups—the two most essential services—at a fraction of the cost of many private campgrounds in the region. The proximity to a FREE city dump station further enhances the cost-effectiveness, appealing to the budget-conscious traveler or the long-term RVer adhering to the 14-day limit.
Second, no other RV park in the area offers such immediate access to diverse recreational amenities. Within walking or biking distance, guests have an 18-hole golf course, a major baseball complex, and the sprawling Jensen's Grove which provides a lake for swimming and fishing, picnic pavilions, and the scenic 6.5-mile greenbelt. For those traveling with children or seeking active recreation, this location turns a simple RV stop into an instant vacation base. The inclusion of a large, nearby dog park is an equally valuable feature for Idahoans traveling with pets.
Finally, the "easy in and out" location near the airport is a massive convenience for travelers passing through Eastern Idaho on major routes. It serves as an ideal launchpad or recovery point for exploring regional attractions like the Idaho Potato Museum, the Craters of the Moon National Monument, or as a layover spot on the way to Grand Teton or Yellowstone National Parks. If you are a self-contained RV owner looking for a clean, quiet, and amenity-rich base without the high price tag, the City of Blackfoot RV Park is the best choice in the region.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1A very big parking lot near the airport. Their website for renting spaces is total garbage and way too difficult. They should have a sign with a QR code on it for renting spaces. There’s a free dump station on site, some spaces have a picnic table and there’s a few small trees. Seems like the perfect spot to stay when you’re in town visiting the in-laws. 0 frills.
July 22 · Curt Marler, PhDNice, quiet place at the airport. Electric and water plus dump. $35 bucks. There are plenty of empty sites when we visited on a Tuesday. The internet site to make a reservation was difficult to operate, I gave up and made arrangements to pay the city via cellphone. Easy in and out.
August 14 · Bud HammWe stayed here for a week in August and really enjoyed this area. Power and water were reliable, and there is a nice dog park nearby. Some planes will be landing and taking off, mostly during the day, but they weren't an issue. This park is, after all, next to an airport. We camped at City of Blackfoot RV Parking in a Fifth Wheel.Update: We stayed here again in August 2023 and found a negative. Their sprinkler system leaves horrible mineral water spots on our truck and RV. They need to make sure the sprinklers do not touch the paved areas, only grass. Pleased to see they added a dump station though, although they also raised the nightly price to $35
July 22 · David BottomleyMade a reservation for this park on the city website and it was great. Only water and power available, and the closest dump stations is a Love’s in Idaho Falls (if you’re headed north).Went and ate at Tommy Vaughn’s just down the road, best chicken fried steak you’ll ever have and the Walmart is close by if you need supplies. The WWII and Vietnam era tanks in the park were cool as well! Pretty quiet and felt safe in the area. Wouldn’t hesitate staying here again.
July 02 · John UGoogle says this RV park is Temporary Closed go on line and reserve they are open April 22 2025.Nice park to rest before heading north.
