Cedar Ridge RV Park Introduce

For Texans on the hunt for their next RV destination, especially in the charming and attraction-rich area of Glen Rose, finding the right RV park is key to a successful trip. Cedar Ridge RV Park, located at 4475 US-67, Glen Rose, TX 76043, USA, aims to provide a convenient and affordable option. Glen Rose is renowned for its unique blend of natural history and family-friendly attractions, drawing visitors from across the state.

However, like any business, an RV park's true suitability is often best understood through the experiences of its past guests. Recent feedback for Cedar Ridge RV Park presents a mixed, but largely challenging, picture. While some aspects, like the reported warmth of the manager, offer a glimmer of positivity, other critical points regarding site spacing, cleanliness, and maintenance raise significant considerations for prospective visitors. It's crucial for Texans to have a clear and factual understanding of what to expect to make an informed decision for their hard-earned leisure time.

This article will provide an honest and detailed overview of Cedar Ridge RV Park in Glen Rose, TX, based directly on publicly available customer reviews. We will cover its geographical location and accessibility, outline the services it reportedly offers, discuss the key features and, importantly, highlight the significant concerns raised by recent visitors. We'll also provide contact information and, in the conclusion, synthesize this information to help locals determine if this park aligns with their expectations for an enjoyable RV experience in Texas.

Location and Accessibility

Cedar Ridge RV Park is situated at 4475 US-67, Glen Rose, TX 76043, USA. Its location directly on US-67 (also referred to as West Highway 67) offers straightforward access for RVers approaching from various directions. Glen Rose, often dubbed the "Dinosaur Capital of Texas," is a popular tourist destination known for its prehistoric footprints, wildlife centers, and scenic river activities.

The park's position on a U.S. highway generally ensures easy navigation for all types of RVs, including large Class A motorhomes and travel trailers. From major Texas cities, the drive to Glen Rose is manageable. For instance, from Fort Worth, it's approximately a 1-hour to 1-hour 15-minute drive southwest. From Dallas, the journey typically takes around 1.5 hours to 1 hour and 45 minutes, depending on traffic. Even from Austin, while a longer trek at approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, it's a popular route for those heading to this unique region.

Being on the outskirts of Glen Rose, the park offers relatively quick access to the town's attractions, including Dinosaur Valley State Park, Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, and the historic downtown square. This balance of being close to attractions yet slightly removed from the immediate hustle of town can appeal to many RVers. However, proximity to a highway can sometimes mean ambient traffic noise, a factor to consider for those seeking absolute quiet. The park states it has "3 entrances off US Highway 67," making entry convenient.

Services Offered (Based on Reported Information and Reviews)

Cedar Ridge RV Park advertises a range of services typically expected from an RV park, aiming to provide essential conveniences for its guests. Based on available public information and customer feedback, the park reportedly offers:

  • Full Hookup RV Sites: The park states that "All RV spots include full hookup, including electricity of 30 or 50 Amp, city water and sewer connection at all spaces." This is a fundamental offering for most RV parks, ensuring power, fresh water, and waste disposal.
  • Pull-Through and Back-In Sites: The park indicates it has "pull through sites to support large class A motorhomes with a tow behind vehicle and also smaller back in spaces for truck campers and trailers." This offers flexibility for different RV sizes.
  • Restrooms and Showers: The park reportedly offers "Restrooms, showers, and laundry and Wifi free for all guests." However, recent reviews raise significant concerns about the condition and maintenance of these facilities, with one reviewer stating, "restroom/showers are… you see in my pics" and "Absolutely no maintenance on the bathrooms/showers whatsoever." Another noted, "Had to wait at least a week for 2 of 3 of those items to even be seen."
  • Laundry Facilities: "Laundry" is listed as a free amenity. However, a review mentions, "the (free) laundry took forever to do and were constantly being used and ppl using other ppls plugs that would make our breakers trip." This suggests potential issues with capacity, equipment, or electrical infrastructure.
  • Wi-Fi: "Wifi free for all guests" is advertised. No direct reviews confirm or deny the quality of the Wi-Fi.
  • Trash Services: Dumpsters are reportedly "located directly behind the main building as well as the rear-east corner of the park." However, a review critically states, "Trash took a little over 2 weeks to even get taken care of, and I had found out that, we as the tenants of the campsite, need to inform the manager or whoever that the trash needs to be taken out instead of having a schedule with the trash company."
  • Long-Term Stays: The park mentions welcoming guests "needing a place to stay for work," implying availability for extended stays, with "Monthly base" rates listed.
  • Pet-Friendly Policy: Pets are allowed, with a rule to "Clean up after your pet. All pets must be leashed."
Features / Highlights (and Significant Concerns)

Based on the provided customer reviews, Cedar Ridge RV Park presents a stark contrast between what is offered and the actual guest experience, highlighting critical concerns that potential visitors should be aware of.

  • Positive Mention of Manager (Paula): The most significant positive highlight from the reviews is the manager, Paula. One reviewer stated, "Ugh the ppl here were amazing, Paula the 'manager' felt like home she was the best part of the place." This suggests a potentially warm and welcoming personal interaction with the manager.
  • Site Proximity: A major concern is that "The spots are uncomfortably close together, we could hear everything." This indicates a lack of privacy and potentially a noisy environment, which can detract significantly from a relaxing RV experience.
  • Pest Infestations: Multiple severe issues with pests were reported, including "fleas out small child were come in with bites," "numerous feral cats that reproduced like rabbits," "Roaches, fleas, and small black bugs that weren’t ants invaded the entire campsite." This is a significant health and comfort concern.
  • Sewer Smell: Another highly problematic issue was that the "sewer smell was horrendous." This indicates potential issues with the park's sewer system or its maintenance, leading to an unpleasant environment.
  • Maintenance Neglect: Reviews strongly suggest a lack of maintenance for common facilities: "Absolutely no maintenance on the bathrooms/showers whatsoever." and "Had to wait at least a week for 2 of 3 of those items to even be seen." The issue with trash collection ("Trash took a little over 2 weeks to even get taken care of") further points to systemic maintenance deficiencies.
  • Electrical Issues: "Ppl using other ppls plugs that would make our breakers trip" in the laundry area points to potential electrical system strain or improper usage, leading to inconvenience.
  • Affordability (with a caveat): While one review acknowledges that the place is "inexpensive" and another notes "Great price," this positive is heavily outweighed by the negative experiences. The sentiment "whoever wants to try and save a couple dollars here better know about this place" clearly warns against choosing the park solely based on cost.

Conclusion: Why This Place May NOT Be Suitable for Locals

For Texans looking for a pleasant and comfortable RV park experience, particularly in a popular destination like Glen Rose, Cedar Ridge RV Park, based on recent customer reviews, presents significant drawbacks that make it questionable for suitability. While the Glen Rose area itself is rich with attractions like Dinosaur Valley State Park and Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, and the park’s location on US-67 offers easy access to these spots, the overwhelming negative feedback regarding the park's internal conditions cannot be overlooked.

The complaints about "uncomfortably close" spots leading to a lack of privacy and audible disturbances are a major detractor for those seeking a peaceful escape. Even more critically, the severe issues with "fleas," "roaches," "small black bugs," "feral cats," and a "horrendous" "sewer smell" point to fundamental problems with hygiene, pest control, and infrastructure maintenance. The reported lack of essential supplies in restrooms ("no toilet paper/paper towels/hand soap"), the condition of showers, and the infrequent trash collection ("Trash took a little over 2 weeks to even get taken care of") further paint a picture of neglect that is far from the standard expected by RVers.

While the manager, Paula, received a positive personal mention, the systemic issues described by multiple recent guests suggest that individual friendliness may not compensate for widespread operational shortcomings. The advice from a reviewer to "either save your money, or spend a little more for a better location" resonates strongly. Ultimately, for Texans prioritizing cleanliness, comfort, and a pleasant environment for their RV adventures, the information available about Cedar Ridge RV Park in Glen Rose suggests that exploring alternative options in the area might lead to a far more enjoyable and stress-free stay. There are many other well-regarded RV parks in the wider Glen Rose area that might offer a more consistent and positive experience for your valuable leisure time.
