Casey's RV Hideaway Introduce
Casey's RV Hideaway, officially managed by the Elizabeth Park & Recreation District, offers a straightforward and convenient basecamp for RV and tent campers looking to explore the scenic Elbert County region of Colorado. Nestled among the beautiful **Ponderosa Pines** within the 103-acre Casey Jones Park, this spot provides a comfortable, no-frills camping experience that emphasizes accessibility to local recreational amenities. It serves as a practical stopover for travelers or a peaceful retreat for local Colorado residents seeking an escape without straying too far from the Denver metro area and Colorado Springs.
The atmosphere at Casey's RV Hideaway is often described by visitors as "meat and potatoes"—functional, clean, and providing the essential services needed for a comfortable stay. The campground is relatively small, featuring around **21 to 24 sites**, which helps foster a quieter, more manageable environment. The emphasis here is on the natural surroundings and the expansive recreational opportunities immediately adjacent to the park, rather than luxury amenities typically found in high-end resorts. It is a community-focused campground offering a simple, well-maintained place to call home for a short-term stay, or potentially for full-time residents who occupy a portion of the sites.
It is important for prospective visitors to note the operational distinction of this park. As a property managed by the local park and recreation district, its primary value comes from its direct integration with the larger Casey Jones Park and adjacent Evans Park facilities, offering unparalleled access to publicly managed sports and recreation spaces. The staff is consistently noted in reviews for being friendly and helpful, contributing to a welcoming and positive visitor experience.
The park is open year-round for RV camping, although tent camping availability may be seasonal. It offers a much-appreciated shaded environment due to the mature pine trees, a valuable feature for summer camping in Colorado.
Casey's RV Hideaway is ideally situated for easy access in East Central Colorado. The address is **4189 CO-86, Elizabeth, CO 80107, USA**. This location places the park conveniently off State Highway 86, making it easily reachable for travelers on the move. Elizabeth, CO, maintains a small-town atmosphere while offering necessary services and supplies only a short drive away.
The park is strategically located in relation to major Colorado population centers: it is approximately 40 minutes southeast of Centennial and roughly an hour from both Denver and Colorado Springs, making it an accessible weekend getaway for residents of the Front Range. The elevation is approximately 6,545 feet, offering a true high-plains Colorado camping experience.
A significant highlight of the location is its immediate proximity and attachment to the extensive recreational facilities of Casey Jones Park and the adjacent Evans Park. Guests can step out of their RV and quickly access:
- **Casey Jones Park:** 103 acres featuring ballfields, an equestrian arena with overnight corrals, a dog park, and a 1.4-mile equine-friendly trail.
- **Evans Park:** An additional 60-acre park accessible nearby that offers a splashpad, playground, skatepark, disc-golf course, fishing pond, and pickleball courts.
The campground itself demonstrates a commitment to accessibility with the following features:

September 01 · DIY Real Estate InvestingVery MEAT & POTATOES camp site. Pictures are accurate; shaded spaced out sites. The park backs up to a rodeo and baseball field. Water and power provided each clean site. Quite a bit of road noise but park is quite.1/3 of the park looks like it is occupied by full timers. Nothing interesting or unique about this campground. It is very strange there are no public bathrooms or shower on premises. You have to walk over to the rodeo to go to the bathroom. The whole website talks about the park 1/2 a mile away… that should have been a red flag. Rec room thing is a slab with a roof with 1 full wall and 2 1/2 walls unfinished overlooking a field. I guess it’s more of a shade structure.Overall a step above staying in a Walmart parking lot.
July 13 · JTSmall campground with huge camping sites that are very well maintained. The park is close to a horse arena and baseball park with a large playground for the kids. No sewer but that have a dump station.
May 29 · comet1996We love this campground for a last-minute weekend getaway from the city. Sites and restrooms are always clean. Beware of people from the adjacent baseball fields. If there is a game, people will always ask you for the code to the restrooms doors. We have even had an adult man try to convince my young daughter to give him the codes. He was an umpire at a softball tournament.
