Cal Expo RV Park distinguishes itself as an urban RV park, providing the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay while keeping you close to the city's attractions and events. It's an ideal spot for those attending events at Cal Expo, visiting Sacramento for business or pleasure, or simply needing a convenient stopover with essential services. While you might be "in the city," the park aims to offer a secure and functional base. We understand that finding an RV park that balances accessibility, convenience, and necessary facilities is key to a successful trip, and Cal Expo RV Park strives to meet those needs for our local Californian travelers.
Cal Expo RV Park is prominently located at 1600 Exposition Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95815, USA. This address places it directly on the grounds of the California State Exposition, commonly known as Cal Expo, which is a major event venue in Sacramento.
The accessibility of Cal Expo RV Park is one of its most significant advantages, particularly for travelers navigating Sacramento. Exposition Boulevard is a major arterial road, providing straightforward access from various parts of the city and nearby freeways, including Highway 80 and Business 80/Capital City Freeway. While one reviewer mentioned it was "a bit of a challenge to find" despite signs, once located, its central position offers excellent connectivity. For those attending events at Cal Expo, the park's on-site location means unparalleled convenience, allowing easy walking access to the fairgrounds. Furthermore, being "in the city" means residents have quick access to urban amenities. Grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, and other essential services are just a short drive away. While you can expect "to hear trains and planes" due to its urban setting, reviewers also note that this noise is "not enough to keep us awake," suggesting a tolerable level. This combination of central location and easy road access makes Cal Expo RV Park a highly practical choice for RVers exploring Sacramento and its surrounding areas.
Cal Expo RV Park offers a range of services designed to provide a comfortable and convenient stay for RVers. These services focus on essential needs for both short-term and extended visits:
Full Hookups: The park provides full hookup sites, typically including electricity (30/50 amp), water, and sewer connections, essential for most modern RVs.

Laundry Facilities: On-site laundry facilities are available, also described as "clean," providing convenience for longer stays.
On-Site Management/Hosts: The park benefits from "very welcoming and nice" hosts, and the "check In was great," with an employee meeting campers at their RV with paperwork, indicating efficient and helpful on-site assistance.
Pet-Friendly Environment: While not explicitly stated, most RV parks are pet-friendly, and a large urban park like this would typically accommodate pets, though policies (e.g., leash rules, waste disposal) would apply.
Security: As part of a large exhibition complex, the RV park typically has a level of security in place, although specific measures are not detailed in reviews.
Accessibility: The park is designed to accommodate various RV sizes, making it accessible for a wide range of vehicles.
Cal Expo RV Park provides several key features and highlights that enhance its appeal as an urban RV destination in Sacramento:

This offers unparalleled access to events, concerts, the California State Fair, and other attractions hosted at the venue. For attendees of these events, it eliminates travel time and parking hassles.
Convenient Access to Sacramento Attractions: Being "in the city" means campers are minutes away from downtown Sacramento, the State Capitol, Old Sacramento, museums, dining, and shopping. This proximity makes it an excellent base for exploring the capital city.
Friendly and Efficient Staff: Reviews consistently praise the "very welcoming and nice" hosts and the "great, very efficient" check-in process. Attentive and helpful staff significantly contribute to a positive guest experience.
Essential Clean Facilities: Despite some facilities being described as "old," the consistent mention of "clean" showers and laundry facilities ensures that basic comforts are met, which is highly valued by RVers.
Open Year-Round: As an urban RV park, Cal Expo RV Park typically operates year-round, offering a consistent option for RV travelers regardless of the season.
Accessibility for All RV Sizes: While sites might be close, the park is designed to accommodate various RV lengths, ensuring most rigs can find a spot.
Urban Environment (a feature for some): While some campers prefer remote nature, the urban setting is a feature for those who want easy access to city amenities and do not mind the ambient city noises (trains, planes) that are common in metropolitan areas.

Cal Expo RV Park Reviews
The hosts are very welcoming and nice. The night is $75 I think… the showers and laundry are clean but old. The spots have sooo little shade and so close to each other. You are in the city though.
Jul 07, 2025 · Angelica CamargoEven with the campground signs, it was a bit of a challenge to find. We did hear trains and planes, but not enough to keep us awake. Clean park. The check In Was great, the park employee met us at our camper when we first pulled in, with all the paperwork, very efficient. Would stay there again!
May 14, 2025 · Holly OlsonHas bathrooms with showers. $20 key deposit that is refunded back when you check out. Has a security guard that does his rounds at night. And during the day management does rounds. They have a laundry room but it's only open til 4pm. The best feature is the dog park. Very friendly people, it's quiet, clean and good customer service.
May 08, 2025 · Kelly AndrewsWas here in November, so note that your experience may vary. Despite it being a "parking lot," it more than met our needs for a week, and with a fair price of $300 for the week. On the first night, they crammed us together despite half the park being empty, but as the week went on, the neighbors were more spaced out, and we had a little more room. Park was quiet and felt safe and secure despite the lack of amenities. Flooding was an issue after rain. Dog park was adequate. Staff was friendly. When making reservation over the phone, I thought it odd that they not only collect credit card but also your drivers license information. The possibility of them not securing this personal information with your credit card along with the cvc# could possibly lead to identity fraud in the future if this info gets into the wrong hands. I'm not sure why they would also need your drivers license when making a reservation. I've never been asked for that before. Otherwise, it was an overall pleasant stay. If you have bikes, then it's even better with direct access to the American River path.
Nov 16, 2024 · Richard FryCENTRALLY LOCATED, SACRAMENTO METRO AREABig-rig friendly for getting around in the park, flat, graveled, (some paved sites), full hookups. No shade in the center (majority of spaces). Shade is on edges near fences. Check Google Maps if shade is important to you. This location is quiet for being surrounded by a busy and bustling business district. Food and shopping is very close. My Favorite: The people at the front desk. Funny, quick to laugh and professional. Thank you all!
