Blueberry Hill

6233 Lowery St, Bushnell, FL 33513, USA

4.0
We stayed here for an endurance race, never saw anyone working here. Which is good and bad. Good because it was an easy check in, bad because we had a neighbor that stayed up partying one night, then got mad at us for being up and out the door at 6am. I called the office twice, left a message, never heard back. I would stay here again though. Also, management please upkeep your propane fire pits, ours was full of water and didn't work. - Dunning Kruger

This article will provide an in-depth look at Blueberry Hill RV Resort, drawing on publicly available information and customer reviews to help you determine if it's the right fit for your RV adventures in Florida.

Location and Accessibility

Blueberry Hill RV Resort is strategically located at 6233 Lowery St, Bushnell, FL 33513, USA. This position in the cozy town of Bushnell, within Sumter County, offers an excellent balance of a peaceful setting and remarkable accessibility to key Florida destinations and everyday conveniences. Bushnell itself is known for its rural charm while benefiting from strong connections to major roadways.

A significant advantage of Blueberry Hill's location is its close proximity to Interstate 75 (I-75). Being "within minutes of I-75" provides unparalleled ease of access for RVers traveling from various parts of Florida or across the country. This major interstate allows for straightforward journeys to both Tampa, approximately 60 minutes away, and the world-renowned attractions of Orlando, about 70 minutes away. This makes the resort an ideal base for day trips to theme parks like Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and Busch Gardens, as well as cultural sites and Gulf Coast beaches.

Beyond regional accessibility, the immediate surroundings of Blueberry Hill RV Resort are particularly convenient. A standout feature, highlighted by customer reviews, is the "Walmart across the road," making grocery runs and essential shopping incredibly easy, often within walking distance or a quick golf cart ride. Additionally, residents mention restaurants, an ice cream shop, and "much more, all within walking distance," adding to the convenience for daily needs and casual outings.

The resort is also close to popular local attractions such as the famous Webster Flea Market, a massive and vibrant market known for its diverse offerings. The Withlacoochee State Forest, offering opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking and biking, is also nearby, catering to nature enthusiasts. Furthermore, the Florida National Cemetery and Dade Battlefield Historic State Park are close by for those interested in history. This blend of local convenience and regional accessibility makes the location of Blueberry Hill RV Resort a strong selling point for many RV travelers and long-term residents.

Services Offered

Blueberry Hill RV Resort provides a range of services designed to make stays comfortable and convenient for its guests. While core services are standard for RV parks, details about their implementation can vary based on operational practices, as sometimes reflected in customer feedback.

  • Full Hookup RV Sites: The resort offers full hookup RV sites, which typically include 30-amp and 50-amp electric service, water, and sewer connections. These sites are designed to accommodate RVs of various sizes, including pull-through options that can handle large rigs up to 45-65 feet with slide-outs, often featuring paved asphalt pads and picnic tables.
  • Diverse Accommodation Options: Beyond RV sites, Blueberry Hill also provides various lodging options, including "Premium 1 Bedroom Cottages" and "Standard 2 Bedroom/2 Bath Bunk Houses." These furnished rentals come with amenities like air conditioning, flat-screen cable TV, WiFi, private bathrooms, and full kitchens, offering alternatives for those without an RV or seeking a different experience. Long-term stays and vacation home sales are also available.
  • On-Site Laundry Facilities: For the convenience of guests, laundry facilities are available at the park, located near the main office area.
  • Propane Services: Propane is available for sale on-site, a common and essential service for RVers. However, one review mentioned an instance where no staff were available to pump propane, indicating potential inconsistencies in service availability.
  • Recreational Facilities Maintenance: The park manages the upkeep of its recreational amenities such as the pool, shuffleboard courts, and billiards room. While these facilities are generally well-regarded as "clean," one specific complaint noted a "propane fire pit" that was "full of water and didn't work," suggesting that maintenance on all features may not always be consistent.
  • WiFi and Cable TV: Sites are equipped with cable and WiFi service. However, some reviews indicate that WiFi quality can be poor, with "terrible" service and recommendations not to pay for enhanced service, suggesting reliance on personal cell data might be necessary.
  • Pet-Friendly Policies: Blueberry Hill is a pet-friendly resort, indicating that guests can bring their pets, likely with specific rules regarding leashing and waste cleanup.
Features / Highlights

Blueberry Hill RV Resort boasts several appealing features and highlights that draw guests to its Bushnell location. However, it's also important to consider feedback regarding certain operational aspects to get a full picture of the experience.

  • Large, Well-Equipped Spots: Guests appreciate the "large spots" at the RV park, often described as "spacious enough to accommodate RVs of any size" with "super leveled concrete" pads. These full hook-up sites provide comfort and convenience for all types of RVs.
  • Excellent Amenities for Recreation and Socializing: The resort offers a variety of amenities that foster an active and engaging community. These include a "pool," "shuffleboard," "billiards" (game room), a "clubhouse with Banquet Hall," library, card room, horseshoes, bocce ball, pickleball, and cornhole. A robust activity schedule is also a highlight, with "evening entertainment, pot luck dinners, BINGO, crafts, games, or just meeting with friends" promoting a "close-knit community culture."
  • Convenient Proximity to Local Establishments: A major highlight is the park's fantastic location "Walmart across the road," along with other "restaurants, ice cream shop, and much more, all within walking distance (or golf cart ride)." This makes daily errands and casual outings exceptionally convenient for residents.
  • Accessibility to Major Central Florida Attractions: The resort's location near I-75 means easy access to significant Florida attractions. It's "60 minutes from Tampa and 70 minutes from the Orlando attractions," including major theme parks, and close to the famous Webster Flea Market and Withlacoochee State Forest.
  • Generally Quiet Environment: While one review mentioned a neighbor partying, the overall impression for many is that it is a generally "quiet campground," suggesting a peaceful atmosphere.

However, customer feedback also points to some areas that could be improved:

  • Management Responsiveness and Communication: Some residents reported difficulty reaching staff, with calls going unanswered and no follow-up on messages. This lack of visible staff and responsiveness for issues like noisy neighbors or malfunctioning facilities (e.g., propane fire pits) can be a significant drawback.
  • Clarity and Enforcement of Rules: A notable concern revolves around "overbearing on rules" and "unclear" rule infractions. Residents reported receiving "violations for unclear rule infractions" without prior clear explanations, such as specific distances for vehicle parking from power poles. This suggests a need for clearer communication of park rules and a less abrupt approach to enforcement.
  • Maintenance Consistency: While facilities like the pool are noted as "clean," specific maintenance issues, like the non-working propane fire pit, suggest that upkeep may not be consistent across all amenities.

Conclusion: Why Blueberry Hill RV Resort is Suitable for Locals

For Floridians, especially those in Central Florida looking for an RV park that balances convenience with amenities, Blueberry Hill RV Resort in Bushnell offers several compelling reasons for consideration. Its suitability stems from its strategic location and strong recreational offerings, though prospective residents should also be aware of past concerns regarding management communication and rule clarity.

Firstly, the resort's location is a significant draw for locals. Being "within minutes of I-75" provides effortless travel to and from various parts of Florida. For residents of Tampa or Orlando, it's a relatively short drive to a more relaxed setting. The immediate proximity to a "Walmart across the road" and other "restaurants, ice cream shop, and much more, all within walking distance (or golf cart ride)," is incredibly convenient for daily needs, a major plus for any Floridian seeking ease in their daily routine. This excellent accessibility means less time spent on the road and more time enjoying their stay.

Secondly, the extensive list of amenities – including a "pool, shuffleboard, billiards," and a variety of planned social "activities like evening entertainment, pot luck dinners, BINGO, crafts, games, or just meeting with friends" – caters well to the active and social lifestyle often desired by Floridians. For retirees, snowbirds, or families seeking a community atmosphere with plenty of engagement opportunities, Blueberry Hill provides a vibrant setting. The "large spots" are also a benefit for those with bigger RVs, ensuring comfortable accommodation.

However, locals considering Blueberry Hill should also factor in the feedback regarding management responsiveness and rule enforcement. Concerns about unanswered calls, unaddressed noise complaints, and "unclear rule infractions" leading to "violations" without prior clear explanation indicate areas where the park's operational consistency might impact the resident experience. While many enjoy their stays, the potential for these issues should be weighed.

In conclusion, Blueberry Hill RV Resort offers a strong foundation for an enjoyable RV experience in Central Florida, particularly due to its prime location near essential amenities and major attractions, coupled with a wide array of recreational facilities and a community-oriented atmosphere. For Floridians prioritizing convenience, an active social calendar, and comfortable RV accommodations, it holds significant appeal. However, a proactive approach in understanding and clarifying park rules and management's communication practices before a long-term commitment would be wise to ensure a truly suitable and stress-free stay.
