★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My wife and I are from Colorado and recently moved to SC. Nearly every year my family, along with my siblings, their spouses and kids, and my parents, rent cabins for a weekend at Blue Mesa Outpost. I've been missing home since moving to SC and could not have gone to a more perfect place to spend time with family. The views are absolutely astonishing. You have a perfect view of the lake, and the sunsets over the water are something out of a postcard. The cabins are cozy, clean, and have everything you may need for your stay. What makes Blue Mesa Outpost truly special, though, is the atmosphere—it feels both peaceful and welcoming, like a hidden gem that you want to share with your loved ones but also keep to yourself. Whether you’re sitting by the fire, grilling outside, spending time with family or just taking in the fresh mountain air, every moment feels restorative. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive, going out of their way to make sure your stay is memorable. Steve, the owner, will ensure you have what you need to make your stay as comfortable as can be.It really does feel like home away from home. After moving so far from Colorado, finding a place that reminded me of the family traditions and beauty I grew up with was priceless. We’ll definitely be back again and again.
August 17 · Cody PalmerThe location of these cabins is incredible! Waking up to the breathtaking view of Blue Mesa Reservoir is an unforgettable experience. It's conveniently located, with a short drive to the water and easy access to Gunnison. However, the one major downside is the comfort of the beds and no AC in the cabins. The beds are extremely firm, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep. If you prioritize a stunning view over sleeping comfort, this place might be worth it, but be prepared for a less-than-comfortable sleeping situation.
July 27 · Kristen PalmerSteve, the owner, was very friendly, helpful and genuinely concerned about our comfort and enjoyment while there! Will definitely return! We stayed in one of the cabins that overlooked the reservoir; beautiful view! The cabin was nicely furnished and very clean.
July 14 · Del BirkMake sure that you check all the reviews before booking here, including TripAdvisor. True colors don’t lie, when dealing with an owner that doesn’t care about his guest! New owner, poor attitude! Below is another horrible review to add to his collection…Worst experience ever checking in! A skinny man named Steve (Owner) during check-in was very confrontational and rude!! How he has a job is beyond me, he stating can’t you read this sign don’t pull up here. Stated that we had to check in before we got to our site. Hence the reason why we were in the office meanwhile he told us to leave saying we were confrontational. Zero stars if allowed!! Place also looked very trashy!!
August 03 · Zach LindbergThe cabin was better than I expected. The view from the front porch was so beautiful. The entire place was very inviting. The host showed me where an access road was too a beach. The fishing from there was great. Having a dog friendly resort allowed my wife and I to bring our dogs and enjoy the reservoir and Gunnison together. Coming back from fishing one day a strange truck was parked in front of our cabin, but the host Steve was there as well. Having that kind of presence allows peace of mind to leave a cooler on the porch and fishing gear out to dry. I definitely recommend booking here. I will be back this seasonEdit. My wife and I returned here again. Once again we were not disappointed. The dog friendly environment allowed us to bring our dogs. The easy access to multiple beaches for fishing allowed me time to truly relax. The owner Steve made a couple recommendations about places to eat in Gunnison and where to fish. He did not disappoint, the food and fishing were excellent. It's nice staying in such reasonable and complete cabins that are so dog friendly. I went up to the game room and played some pool and area 51(one of the best arcade games ever made). This is definitely on my our list of destinations that stick out.
