birds creek campground tennessee
For Tennessee locals and visitors planning an extended stay or a convenient basecamp to explore the wonders of the Great Smoky Mountains, Birds Creek Campground in Sevierville offers a unique and appealing option. This "nice, small RV/camping 'extended stay' park" provides a cozy and often tranquil setting, making it an excellent choice for those looking to immerse themselves in the region without the constant hustle and bustle of more crowded tourist areas. While it caters significantly to long-term residents, it also welcomes short-term campers, offering a functional and affordable solution for your Smoky Mountain adventure.
Birds Creek Campground is more than just a place to park your RV; it’s a community. Many of its spots are dedicated to "regulars" who 'live' here, creating a stable and friendly atmosphere. This extended-stay model contributes to a quieter and more peaceful environment compared to transient, high-turnover parks. The management is consistently praised for being "pleasantly professional," ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for all guests. The sense of community and the attentive management are significant draws for those seeking a more settled and comfortable stay.
One of the campground's most compelling advantages is its affordability, especially for longer stays. In a region where accommodation costs can quickly add up, Birds Creek Campground stands out as a budget-friendly choice, making extended exploration of the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge areas more feasible. This economic benefit allows visitors to allocate more of their budget to experiencing the area's myriad attractions, from Dollywood to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park itself.
While the approach roads into the campground, being in the mountains, can be "VERY narrow" and may require careful navigation for larger rigs, the payoff is worth it. Once you arrive, you'll find "big spots" with "nice concrete patios," offering ample space and comfort for your RV setup. Though some sites may not be perfectly level, as noted by some visitors, the overall quality of the individual sites and the peaceful setting are highly valued. The campground is nestled in a "beautiful green meadow, on the banks of Birds Creek," providing a serene natural backdrop.
Ultimately, Birds Creek Campground is ideal for those who prioritize a quiet, affordable, and well-located base for their Smoky Mountain adventures. It provides a comfortable retreat after a day of exploring, allowing guests to relax and recharge. Its unique blend of extended-stay convenience and proximity to major attractions makes it a practical and charming choice for many types of travelers, from families looking for a longer vacation to individuals seeking a peaceful temporary home in the mountains.
Birds Creek Campground, Tennessee, is ideally located at 3620 Old Birds Creek Rd, Sevierville, TN 37876, USA. This address places it strategically in the heart of the Smoky Mountain region, providing exceptional accessibility to the area's most popular destinations. Despite its mountain setting, which means some "VERY narrow" roads leading in, the campground's primary advantage is its direct proximity to both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.
Reviewers consistently highlight that the campground is "set directly between the two main places, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge," making it "pretty close to whatever you want." This means that world-class attractions like Dollywood, The Island in Pigeon Forge, countless dinner shows, and the vibrant arts and crafts community are all just a short drive away. Furthermore, access to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, with its endless hiking trails, scenic drives, and natural beauty, is also incredibly convenient via the Gatlinburg, Wears Valley, and Townsend entrances.
While navigating the mountain roads with a large RV (such as a 37 ft diesel pusher with a tow vehicle, as one reviewer mentioned) requires attention, especially regarding potential low-hanging limbs or narrow shoulders, this is often an expected part of traveling in such a mountainous region. The short, manageable drive to these major hubs far outweighs the minor navigation challenges for many. This exceptional central location means less time spent in traffic and more time enjoying your vacation, making Birds Creek Campground an excellent logistical choice for exploring the entire Smoky Mountain area.

Birds Creek Campground, Tennessee Reviews
Nice, small RV/camping 'extended stay' park. I think that all the spots here are for regulars that 'live' here and the one spot available to camp at is how they maintain the ability to probably keep the status as being a campground instead of being a 'permanent' park. The roads to get here were VERY narrow, as one would assume considering this is in the mountains. I use the app called copilot to navigate considering we have a 37 ft diesel pusher and we have a tow vehicle too. It was our first time taking it out through some roads like these. I wish the roads would have had a little bit more of a shoulder and there weren't so many limbs sticking out and down to scratch the rv but that's also to be expected. Just not something we thought about when planning to come here. The campground is nice. Big spots. Nice concrete patios. Not very level, keep in mind as our front tires are way off the ground. Not really good for the RV Jack's to have this much weight on them but we didn't have much of a choice. Not much else here. But, it was definitely affordable. The road that runs by it can be noisy and not much scenery to look at, but, we're didn't come here for that. We are set directly between the two main places, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. That's the big plus! Pretty close to whatever you want. Definitely would recommend to others, as long as they knew what to expect.
Sep 26, 2022 · Shelly HamPleasantly professional management. Beautiful place in a fantastic location.
May 01, 2025 · Theresa DowdyWe lived there for about 2 years Larry and Yasmin the owners were extremely nice and always on top of any issue that came up. The grounds were kept up nicely and laundry room was always clean and nice. We stayed in site 2 which had a great yard and was very quiet. They also had free entertainment and pizza nights for all their guests! Had I not gotten cancer we would probably still be there. Thank you for the wonderful memories :) Lauren & Charlie Nichols
Aug 09, 2022 · Buckhorn InnWe stayed here for 10 months (in our 5th wheel) while our house was being built. What a wonderful campground! It’s picturesque, well kept and has a great, small community feel. The amenities that are included for the price are almost unheard of nowadays and everyone is very friendly. There is a manager that lives on site and the owners are very hands on as well. We’ve made some good friends living here and would highly recommend this campground to anyone looking for an affordable, pet friendly, clean place to live. PS They also have a cabin for rent on site for family and friends.
Jul 14, 2023 · Kathleen RyleGreat basic campground we enjoyed staying here. Robert is friendly, attentive, and quick to help with anything needed. We stayed in spot 15, which felt gigantic and was great for our kids to have alot of play space. There is a creek that runs along the back side which our kids loved to play and fish in. It also provides the most peaceful relaxing sounds. Extended stays welcome, lot rent on the higher end but you get electricity upto $100, fiber optic wifi, laundry room, water and septic included. School bus picks up kids for Caton Chapel Elementary and Gatlinburg Pittman High School.Cons: Campground backs up to a popular wedding venue so there is loud music that will go until 11pm on most weekends and some week nights and it is More active in the summer. The creek does flood site 15 in very high rains in February. Overall we had a great extended stay.
