Introduction / Overview
Atchafalaya RV Park is a relatively new and still-developing RV park located in Plaquemine, Louisiana. It stands out with a unique feature: "The entire park is concrete except for a small apron around the outside," which is a significant advantage for those concerned about mud, especially given Louisiana's often wet climate. This concrete surface contributes to a "clean" appearance and ease of maneuvering for RVs of various sizes.
The park is owned and operated by "Mr. Glynn and his Son Sam," who are praised by reviewers for doing "everything they can to make it an enjoyable stay." This hands-on, friendly ownership approach suggests a commitment to guest satisfaction and a welcoming atmosphere. While it is noted that the park is "new... and things are still under construction," implying ongoing development and potential future enhancements, its current state is described as a "nice park." A key aspect of its appeal is its proximity to local conveniences, with a "convenience store, fuel, and bar next door," as well as "all the fishing you could desire right next door." This integration with local businesses provides immediate access to daily needs and leisure activities, distinguishing it from more isolated campgrounds.
Location and Accessibility
Atchafalaya RV Park is conveniently located at 65435 Bayou Rd, Plaquemine, LA 70764, USA. Plaquemine is a historic city in Iberville Parish, situated on the west bank of the Mississippi River, just south of Baton Rouge. This location offers a blend of small-town charm with relatively easy access to larger urban centers and the famed Atchafalaya Basin.
The park's address on Bayou Road suggests its close connection to Louisiana's characteristic waterways, enhancing its appeal for those interested in fishing and other water-based activities. Its proximity to major routes allows for relatively straightforward access for RVs traveling through the region. While specific highway proximity isn't detailed, being in Plaquemine means it's within reach of US-1 and other state highways connecting to Baton Rouge and beyond. This accessibility is a clear benefit for transient RVers. For longer-term residents, the location provides access to local amenities in Plaquemine, including the historic Downtown Plaquemine area, the Plaquemine Lock State Historic Site (an engineering marvel), and the Iberville Museum, all offering insights into Louisiana's rich history and culture. The area is also known for swamp tours, providing opportunities to explore the unique Atchafalaya Basin, which is America's largest river swamp and a diverse ecosystem for wildlife viewing and outdoor recreation. While one review notes "lots of traffic at all hours" on Belleville Rd nearby, indicating potential road noise, the overall convenience of the location for both local exploration and regional travel remains a strong point.
Services Offered
Atchafalaya RV Park offers a core set of services tailored for RV travelers, with a few notable considerations based on direct customer feedback.
- Full Concrete Sites: A significant service feature is that "The entire park is concrete," providing a clean, level, and mud-free surface for RV parking, which is a major convenience in Louisiana's climate.
- Utility Hookups: As an RV park, it is expected to provide essential hookups, including electricity (likely 30/50 amp), water, and sewer connections at each site, though specific details on these are not given in the reviews.
- Laundry Facility: One review explicitly mentions the park "have a laundry facility." However, another states "There is no laundry facility," indicating a potential discrepancy, or that this amenity may be under construction or limited. Prospective visitors should confirm the current status of laundry facilities.
- On-site Management/Ownership: The park benefits from active ownership by "Mr Glynn and his Son Sam," who are noted for being hands-on and working to ensure an "enjoyable stay." While one review mentions "no onsite manager," this might refer to a separate, dedicated management office rather than the owners' presence.
- Adjacent Convenience Store & Fuel: Directly next door, "Jack Miller's Landing" serves as a "nice quick stop for gas or drinks," adding significant convenience for residents and travelers.
- Adjacent Bar/Lounge: "Jack Miller's Landing" also features a "lounge that serves steaks and whatnot," providing an immediate dining and social option without leaving the immediate vicinity of the park.
- Fishing Access: The park offers direct or very close access to fishing opportunities, as reviewers note there is "all the fishing you could desire right next door."
It's important for visitors to confirm the exact availability and condition of the laundry facilities prior to their stay, given the conflicting information.

Oct 09, 2023 · George BurchThis is a nice park, especially if you are concerned with mud. The entire park is concrete except for a small apron around the outside. There is a small local store called Jack Miller's Landing out front that is a nice quick stop for gas or drinks prior to work. They also have a lounge that serves steaks and whatnot that I hadn't tried. However, at night this place can be loud. I was there for a month and there was an outdoor party with A DJ that was bumping until 2am. Belleville Rd has lots of traffic at all hours ranging from trucks with Jake brakes to lots vehicles just wanting the fastest 0-60 time. There is no laundry facility and no onsite manager. I should add that this is a new park and things are still under construction so this review is really only good at the time I'm writing it.
